Thank you so much for your tutorial. I really understand now, what I am doing wrong. I like to groom my own dog, but always a little nervous when doing her nails. You are so thorough. Thanks again so much.

For my 10 lb dog, the rounded safety would make maneuvering around their curved inner nail very difficult and made me worry about pinching the meat of her paw. Although not good with a finicky dog since it has a sharp point, I decided to use a $50 Godhand SPN-120 nipper made for cutting hobby plastics that I had for my other hobbies and found it superior to any pet nail clipper for sharpness and precision. I usually shine a flashlight through her nail to identify where the living tissue is and than use the nippers to cut. Since the nippers are so sharp and silent, the dog has no idea when the nail is cut.

We cut Great Dane nails with the Millers Forge. We don't use the safety, we tape it back. Unless you use a product, you can't make a comment about it.

@Sacha Parker ...... Can you tell us what you use as treats?? They look very small and just what is needed for 'encouraging' ours to put up with getting used to doing stuff to his feet. Btw, thank you for your videos, they are useful practical videos. Also btw, what happened with the mini great dane, Ian?? I can't see any other part than Part 1

Oh gosh, I have no idea what I would have used 2 years ago. It could have been Prime100 rolls cut up into small pieces.
Ian the Mini Great Dane was adopted by a Melbourne family, he grew into a healthy regular sized Great Dane :)

I can’t believe it. I got some cheap clippers and they were so annoying and cheap. I just had to find something better so I watched your entire video until your #1 pick. Low and behold, those are the ones I was using! I’m going to give them another chance. Maybe it’s the process I’m finding difficult and not necessarily the clippers.

Thank you for all the information. Also how to clip the nails, in what position the dog has to be. Front and back legs. Today I tried to trim the nails of our Dachshunds with my husband, but it was really difficult and forcing the dogs laying down on their sides gave me the best view of the nails. One of them has a bad back I think because clipping the back leg nails are difficult, she's moves like she is in pain when I hold her paw up.. So having her lean on my leg is interesting to try, I'll give that a go next time

Never considered the thickness of the cutting apparatus would hinder an effective cut. Very informative indeed as my 144 lb. Rottweiler doesn’t care for the dremel grinder, even as just a file. Thank you!

The red Millersforge are amazing, I also taped the lock on them haha. But they're only good for dogs with medium nails like medium GSDs Husky, Pitbull, Lab, etc. Anything large like a large German Shepherd, Malamute, Dane, etc you can only do their dewclaws, and maybe 1-2 other ones.

I LOATHE miller forge with the orange plastic handles. they are the same as the generics and the metal is softer. This idea that they are not sharp are fixed with a chainsaw file and three passes on each side. These are all very easy to sharpen.
    Do NOT buy
