Dude, because of you I got Nexomon 1 and 2, Coromon, Casette Beasts and Monster Sanctuary! I feel so dumb for only playing Pokémon for so long when there are so many other cool monster taming games. So thank you for your channel existing! :)

siralim ultimate is on the switch also and has a lot and i mean a lot of content.
casette beasts i never buyed, time to go for that.
azure laine is cool! and if they do an rpg its great! and about the gocha mechanic? its free in that game. so i hope that i will come on the switch also
If Wolk crap bugs, you don’t get Cassett beasts has pronouns and crap in it which is unnecessary to have in video games time to wake up y’all two genders
If you liked those titles so much, i suggest you to take a look at pokemon fangames and romhacks scenes, there's a lot of really good unofficial fanmade non profit based projects in the making or that are done. Pokemon Uranium is one of the few finished exemples but it's really nice!
Try Monster Crown it's a great game as well

My wife has been an adamant Pokémon only gamer since she was a kid. I finally convinced her to try out Nexomon 1 and 2 by "accidentally" downloading it in her switch, and now it's impossible to get her to put her switch down! Needless to say, she's no longer just an exclusive Pokémon trainer, lol.
let her try out cassette beasts too , you 2 can play co-op .
Monster Sanctuary is by far my favorite one of the list. It really scratched that itch with "monster customization" through skill trees and the tactical battles were really well done.
Nexomon 3 is also upcoming, no release date but it is being made.

I really look forward to seeing more of these games and others.
Only thinking about Cassette Beasts makes my heart skip a beat. Maaan, what a beautiful game it is. I have it in my top 12 games of all time, and I play all genres. It is that good.

Lmao it was more so just to let monster taming fans know that the genre is still called monster taming, but creature collectors are a sub category of that
I liked TemTem, but I got annoyed with the fact that on switch I have to play online with subscription. It's like a waste of my money to HAVE to do the online payment if I'm only playing ONE game and don't even use the online features for it.
So, I haven't even finished the storyline since I stopped playing a year ago 🤷♀️
Lesson learned, I'm not getting another creature collector game that forces me to use online mode when I just wanna have a good single player experience.
Honestly I feel your pain my problem isn't that I don't want to pay for online
I have online for several games it's not that big of a purchase for me
The problem for me is that Nintendo's online. Sucks. Blatantly so it always has.
And forcing a game to be connected to online 24/7 in order to play means you're constantly disconnecting and losing progress because of Nintendo's crappy service
Tem tem desperately needs an offline mode

Cassette beasts I found to be good but! I had trouble getting out of the main city when you first start playing because the soundtrack for the city “wherever we are now” is such a beautiful song I often find myself just listening to it on repeat and dozing off
Was finally ready to get a new mon game and decided on Monster Sanctuary cause of this video. Will note that its on sale for 4.99$ till April 15th 2024. Could not have had better timing! Thanks Ed!
Loved Monster Sanctuary and Cassette Beasts. Really keen to try the Nexomon games (just bought the physical double pack!) and Moonstone (when it hits consoles). 🤞 Think you turned me onto all of these... 😅
On a separate note, would be cool to hear you use some non Pokemon XD/Colosseum music, so much good material in other monster taming soundtracks that could be highlighted 🎶
I can't wait for Kindred Fates, that's the most innovative game on this list as with Azur Promilia but, Kindred Fates being able to play as the monsters has always been a want in monster taming games for me.

I got cassette beasts and monster sanctuary thanks to you, they were amazing. Eyeing on nexo,coro and anote but i don't have the budget for them yet
I grew up playing pokemon but also play a lot of indie games
My favorite genre of indie games is monster catchers but it really seems like no monster catcher has been wble to catch the charm that i really love about pokemon
Most monster catcher games fixate hard on the monsters themselves with some kind of gimmick (farming is what i see most of the time which i do love but it seems like either the farming mechanic sucks or the monster catching sucks)
But the thing i always liked about pokemon was their stories. I dont just want to mindlessly fight i want to hear the story and lore or this world about these monsters. I want to know the people who live along side these monsters... And yes i really really adore any game with a scary villain which is sooo difficult to find in monster catcher games it feels.
Monster taming games are so much fun I am glad I got quite a few of them during the previous steam sale. It scratches that Pokemon itch while also being fresh at the same time!
10/10, already knew all of them and already beat half of them; are these enough badges to challenge this Gym?
Oh I did not know Siralim Ultimate was on the Switch (and mobile). I'll probably have to pick that up sometime since I'm always looking for new monster taming experiences I can take on the go.
Monster Hunter Stories remaster is coming out june 14th! Monster Hunter stories 2 was absolutely wonderful and my favorite monster taming game for sure!
Coromon takes the cake for me. No other pixelated Pokemonesque games that come close imo. Can't wait for a future Coromon 2 to build off the original.
New to the genre. What monster tamer would you recommend? For context, the only one I played briefly was Temtem. I turned away from this genre because I didn't like the stamina system (why can't monsters rest out of combat?), the slow progression (maybe because it was an MMO), and the art style that felt like a rainbow threw up on my screen. All in all, Temtem was a bad experience. Is there a monster tamer on Steam where I get to summon some actual badass monsters instead of weird, bubbly squirrels? Thx!
This was a solid lineup! I've played most of these game and I have to agree a lot of em were really fun! I especially liked Monster Sanctuary and Casette Beasts 😁
I love Siralim I have followed and played them since the second game. Plus it will be interesting to see what the next game will be.
This is a great list of games that everyone should check out I’ll also add monster hunter stories wings of ruins and dragon quest monsters the dark prince

So monster hunter 1 is releasing soon on switch and I’m beyond excited. It’s just my favorite and I can’t wait. I’m buying the Nexomon bundle of 1 and 2 for switch this week because I relate to the other commenters wife lol super excited!

For people who also likes tactical-RPG with monster collection you also have Fae Tactics.
I'm a big siralim fan and it's amazing to see the creator is not done with ultimate and just announced resumed development. Highly recommend to try that game out if you didn't yet.
Main game I'm still hype for is Thylacine Studio's new game... whenever that get's properly announced. Can't wait to see the Siralim followup.
I like the list but would like to see a list of games what hasn't released yet (i.e. 2024 and beyond with games like Aethmancer, Nexomon 3, Ova Magica, Lumentale, Myth Caller etc) as most of these are Past or Present titles.
Coromon is absolutely amazing. Idk why but it has the exact art style I love and want in a game, it's just so visually pleasing. And the mechanics are perfect, the shiny system is very fun, the option to not evolve coromon and still keep them strong is fantastic, and overall battle mechanics are so fun. 10/10 we need more like this
I've played pokemon since the beginning and I loved it. But it's gotten stale since the last 2-3 releases.... So, TemTem, Palworld, and others are inspirations for a new look into the monster collecting games. One day I hope DokeV comes out too.
Until then, the items off this least I liked were: Nexomon, Kindred Fates (a must have!), Coromon, and Cassette Beasts. All look great!

It's literally the same franchise that started off the entire genre
I didnt miss it, I've covered it a lot of the channel, its not as much about collecting as the others, I was focused more on heavy collection elements, smt has limited storage and stuff.

I have checked out anode heart and it's quite fun indeed. But the level cap that forces to reset (kinda like digimon cyber sleuth) is rather annoying

Which creature collector game would you recommend for someone who only ever played Pokémon but got bored of it because it’s too easy?

I really wish Moonstone Island didn’t have a genderless main character, because I would have bought that game. I just don’t want to play as a nonbinary mc.
Nexomon extinction is just one of the finniest games to play. The story was a treat 😂.
Currently doing a playthrough Cassette Beasts, and the battle system is easily one of my favourites when it comes to turn based games. Easily recommend for those who haven’t tried it yet. It’s darn pretty too.
Monster Sanctuary is next on my list. Looking forward to that game

For monster sanctuary, you probably want to do a little research before starting. Get a Yowie as early as possible

For Cassette Beasts I would recommend getting the game and DLC together so it flows together with the base game seamlessly. Get DLC on sale if possible.
@CasualKeem there's definitely a lot to experiment with. Tons of possible teams and there's a lot of depth to the battle system

I would not recommend Temtem, but that's due to its closure and how it treated its remaining audience.
Is there offline Temtem?
Tried temtem on switch, continuously kept crashing. And switch prevents any kind of refund if u install the game
Monster sanctuary beat me....I love to finish it, but kicked my butt
Never played the full Nexomon - didn't want to pay for it I guess. Monster Sanctuary was incredible. I may need to grab Moonstone Island. I'm massively disappointed with Temtem - loved it originally, but disagree with the direction it went in and the intentionally slowed down pacing.

I played some of these (nexo 1 and 2, coromon and monster sanctuary) and some of these are interesting but I will PASS anything that contains "waifus" or gacha mechanics.
My sentiments exactly. Monster taming is my favorite genre. I don’t want it “tainted” with waifu and/or gacha elements.
If only I could drag my Mum away from farming games and onto monster taming ones, lol.

Is there a monster tamer game with a more adult art style? Or sth. coming up? I like the tactical decisions in games like pokemon, coromon etc. but i want to play cool or dangerous looking monsters not cute squishballs.

Monster Sanctuary convinced me to play a turn-based game after avoiding them for years.
The combo system, and synergizing debuffs rejuvenated a system that had lost its flavor for me.
If the graphic is true on Azur Promilia is that Palworld is excluded from PS but Azur is excluded from Xbox so each one of their Consoles has a Palworld like exclusive of sorts. The waifu game isn't for me though.
Wonder why no one is making Monster Rancher anymore..
They made one in 2022!
I would love a nexomon that doesn't have level scaling - that game is most certainly not relaxing and stress free to play.
azur is just a waifu simulator with gacha mechanics. definitely nothing to look out for monster taming wise. and you cant even play as a male character
