- In this video, we look at the current market for CGC graded vintage movie lobby cards. What are they and are they worth collecting and investing in?
More videos about Movie Poster collecting!
Im a young 22-year-old movie poster collector from Spain.
I collect mainly horror/sci-fi movie posters from 50's-60's and some 70's&80's.
I am proud to be able to conserve pieces as an original one sheet of the premiere of "War of the Worlds" in 1953.
I discovered your channel two weeks ago and I think you provide very valuable info for anyone interested in investing in collectibles.
Keep the great work!
Very interesting... I had no idea
Hi Sean I have an original lobby card set for raiders and indiana jones 8x 10 and Star Wars too. Thanks for the intersting video
Hi! Any news on your upcoming music collecting video? This is my new FAVORITE channel here on youtube:D
It’s in the works...
I have been looking for Lobby card protective cases. DO you have any you would recommend?
No, but you could try Bags Unlimited. They may have what you are looking for.
@@ReservedInvestments Thank you
Hello. I have one question, how much do you think a graded Planet of the apes 1968 lobby card would cost ?
Your best bet is to check comps on Heritage and eBay. My opinion on this matters very little.
Thinking of commentating on current events having a possible impact on the collectibles market?
Given the fact that I am in Pennsylvania and less than 45 minutes from Philly that has 39 confirmed cases and rising, yes, I most likely will do a video on this because it is important...
We're original mini lobby cards ever 8X10? I have a bunch of 60's cards but don't know if someone just printed them.
Yes, some were…
yeah it always comes back to real money, a 10,000 years history of real money versus a 140 year old art form, I'll take the coins thank you very much lol ;)
Do you collect Magic the gathering cards?
Actually, yes. I did however, sell off the majority of the high grade collection I had several years ago due to the fact I thought the market was way to high. I was right, but now I am thinking of getting back in over the next 1 to 3 years. Prices even on most high grade PSA and BGS have dropped a little across the board with few exceptions...
@@ReservedInvestments you have Facebook I can contact you at from the other cards?
I have no other positions in MTG except vintage factory sealed booster boxes...
@@ReservedInvestments i collect that stuff. Let's talk
I am trying to find information on Exhibitors Campaign Manual. I also have character photos with the scene synopsis actor /character name movie production and other info as well as other markings..I am wanting to know what all this means. This particular set of posters is all from one movie and the movie is from the 60s the main character is well established he also wrote the movies and the producer is also a huge entertainer/ actor. Any suggestions?
It's so true! Coming from a family of poster/lobby card collectors it's really surprising how much of those types of vids on YT don't exist. Thank you YT algorithm for sharing this vid with me years later 😅
Help I have a a Tom Holland (director) poster autographed I wanna get graded any suggestions what grading service I should I use any help would appreciated!!
Hello I have a really nice Revenge of the Jedi movie poster I would like to know were I might get it graded and if you think it would be a good idea to. Oh ya it is a rolled Poster.
There is no encapsulation/grading company fro movie posters at present time. Sorry...
Thank you Shawn, your videos continue to broaden my horizons.
Hi Shawn, great content!
Last spring I was lucky to get a set of Star Wars lobby cards unopen and still in the 1977 envelop.
While doing my research to get one set, I have notice that there is spanish, french, german lobby cards too … I’m planning on collecting the first trilogy, my favorite of this Star Wars dumpster fire...
Is the language on the lobby cards influence the value?
Absolutely! English language versions are the most collectible.
@@ReservedInvestments Thank you Shawn!
Now that was a helluva find!
As a millennial who's into classic films from the 1930's-1960s, I've collected LC's since I was in my teens. They are a great way to own original advertising from a favourite film. Unlike comic books, LC's (and other ad formats such as one-sheets, half-sheets, inserts...) were never meant to be available to the public. At the bottom of most LC''s, there is a message stating the card is the property of National Screen Service and must be returned to them once the film has concluded it's theatrical run. One of the more unique traits among LC/poster collectors is that restoration is not looked upon as negatively as it is in comic books...as long as the restoration is done properly and fully disclosed. I think one of the reasons why CGC grading never took off with LC collectors is because they didn't want to replicate what happened in the comic book field and have prices sky rocket by outside speculators.
Great video and you are Brandon Routh :)
Lol!
Had no idea that was a thing/ category. Do you think as we move forward, now that movie posters have become very boring and formulaic (big heads, similar colour palettes, no rwl interesting design), next generation just wont be into them and value will fall?
Interesting....I have several movie posters that I enjoy. I will never, ever sell them. I have an original Star Wars Episode IV signed by the entire cast. This poster also has George Lucas's autograph as well. I have an Empire Strikes Back poster with the same cast signatures (minus Lucas). I have Alien and Aliens posters that are signed. All are in mint condition and framed. I was aware of Lobby Cards but I do not have any. Hell, my Alien posters are in a bit of a shrine in our home arcade. I have a Predator helmet, Pulse Rifle, and Facehuggers all to scale surrounding an AVP arcade cab (working). What can I say, I'm a sucker for anything gaming and iconic films.
Dose CGC grade sports posters?
Concert posters only. Check out their site.
You would need to have a big ass house with lots of free walls to collect (and display) those things.
On the other hand, if I had a big ass house it would have a private theater with a replica lobby there I can display these all day long.
Great video! thanks, and I enjoyed watching and learning. It looks like the case is flexible, I thought it would be stiff like the comics.
I believe lobby cards are still popular in Europe or at least were well after they were phased out in America. I have a set of Team America World Police lobby cards somewhere.
Does CGC grade autograph posters?
Nice video, always learning something everytime u put out a video
Thank you, I have something to look for😂😂
I have small lobby carts, that are huge.
Does anyone know his ebay username?
I went to college in the late 90s in a town that had an ancient movie theater. The guy that owned it would let anybody into his back room and would sell you any movie poster you want for $5. He had everything. As a college kid, I bought some I thought were cool and put them on my dorm wall. If only I had a time machine...
Cool!
Where would you recommend selling movie posters?
Depending on condition and rarity - Heritage Auctions.
Emovieposter.com is far better than Heritage as they don't charge a buyers premium...allowing buyers to spend more $ on bidding.
