Ask your bank teller for old paper or dollar coins. They sometimes have shit they'll just give you at face. I know one guy who got a 1954 devil hair $1000 note. Like a $20,000 value bill. Canadian banks are nuts for old stuff. Best to go to a bank in an older community area.
All those bills are definitely out of circulation, and are becoming more difficult to find outside of the collector market. I’d love to get my hands on that stack!!!
I’m Canadian living in Toronto. We don’t use 2 dollar bills anymore. Some of the 5 bills are newer, and we recently updated our 10 dollar bill to have viola Desmond. Now, we have a 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 500 dollar bills, and no pennies anymore. We use nickels, dimes, loonies, quarters, toonies. Also we dont use 1 d bills. Now all our bills aren’t notes, they are a special type of kind of shiny sea through paper. If you have any questions about Canada please ask me, anyone! Ps we still have cool collector coins. Thank u so much for not butchering Cana, and being nice! And yes we only colourise most of our collector coins at the Winnipeg coin mint.
Wow. That's a great overview with a lot that I've been able to learn! Interesting fact about the Winnipeg mint. I visited my uncle in Montreal area and was impressed with the new currency, but while it was a fun one-time experience, I think I prefer the American composition of currency.
money that comes in bill form is now made of plastic , so paper money is not common anymore here in Canada , also we us a totally different design now on all our modern bills that are made of plastic, paper money that you say is modern is still not in circulation and has a totally different design .
You prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
We do all our own colouring of coins too as we are the first country in the world to colourize our coins. The Royal Canadian mint also strikes coins for 40+ countries as well.
@@TreasureTownCoins it delivered Christian! Omg so jealous right now lol love them Victory 5 cents, georges and young heads! Thank you very much p.s, if you havent found someone to buy those coins, let me know 😊👍
All those banknotes are super hard to find in circulation, the only ones you’ll see are the journey series ones (2002-2012) but still difficult to find as we do not use paper banknotes anymore.
From Nova Scotia, the dollar bills were taken out of circulation all together for coin called the loony and the two dollar bill was later also removed and replaced with a coin called the toony. The majority of those bills are no longer used as currency Canada is now using a polymer type of paper as currency. So these are all collectible
I've never seen most of this currency in circulation. It seems like Canada is really quick to update their bills. I'm only 17 and the bills that were new when I was younger (the 5's with the guys playing hockey on the back) have been completely purged from what I see. You'll never see paper money, at least here in western Canada. Hell even the 10 dollar bills i mostly see nowadays are the vertical ones and those are brand spanking new
2000 and 1999 where monthly series for the 25 cents (24 total). The second one (I think) was a canada wide school contest for the design of the new millenium
The 1954 banknotes, look for the devil's face design in the hair. The first series of banknotes with Elizabeth Il was in 1954. When the bills first came out, there was a pattern in the Queen's hair that resembled a smiling devil. Those banknotes are known as Devil's Face, and they carry a premium. Shortly after issuing the 1954 series banknotes, the design in the Queen's hair was modified to remove the pattern that resembled the smiling devil. Those notes are called modified portrait. Modified portrait do not carry much of a premium.
For the 1954 notes as a whole, pay attention to the Queen's hair as there could be what is known as "David face" notes which are worth more than regular notes of the series.
I'm a Canadian coin collector. From the quick view I got most of the bills are common except for the 1937 bills. @9:00 the two dollar coin is from a low mint year, I would call it an uncommon coin. @9:21 it's a loon, that's why it's called a loonie. 1923 nickel is worth about $12. US, 1931 nickel $8. 1867 1967 penny, the bird is a dove and the off center strike is not unusual. There is a rare version of the 1973 quarter worth over a hundred buck but I'd need to see the Queen side of the coin to tell you. Good video thank you.
Thanks for the input! I no longer have a lot of these but interesting to learn. Definitely don't know too much about Canadian coins... would love to learn more!

Watching this as a Canadian thinking about getting into coin collecting. I didn't even know we had a $1 bill, lowest I've ever seen on a note is $5. I kind of miss the old $20 bills, the new ones have a plastic part in the middle that just doesn't feel the same. @9:18 you're looking at one of our dollar coins and say the bird on the back is 'probably a swan' it's actually a loon, that's why Canadians refer to that coin as the 'loonie'. The two dollar coin we call the 'toonie'.
Also check 1's n 2s from 54 for face of the devil in the queen's hair very rare 73 quarters with the mountie r made of silver low nickel also the Nichols pre was or with v are pure nichol also v is for victory to mark winning ww2 not 5 like u said lol the silver coins with loons are worth 20$$ last I saw most of the Bill's aren't worth nothing the king George's r beat up to much
I’m sad that you spent all those paper ones ): all of them are worth more than face because we don’t make paper anymore as they are COMPLETELY out of circulation you will never find them unless you get really Luckey at a bank. All of the old bills from 1954 are also surprisingly valuable the 1 dollar bills bringing in 5 dollars a piece in circulated condition. Also Canada does colonize their own coins which I think is pretty cool (:
The dix dollars... those look kind of rare and I'm from Canada and other places to but yeah! I'm a number man myself... there's a young head right there on the top of the pile! Some of those got a lot of use and what is a birthday note? I recently got sooooo many different Canadians I found and other things. You should spend old money for people too. Canadian history and cool and some older nickels and pennies and funny comments and stuff!
I haven't seen a paper bill in Canada circulating for many years. I would have kept them all, except the extremely bad conditioned ones. No idea where they went, the banks probably took them out of circulation.
The 1973 quarter's might have an error on them if so they are valuable. Also the 1953 nickle can be valuable if the have a certain size date and shoulder fold or not. And the 1982 dollar coins might be very very valuable. I'm sure there were others I missed or you didn't put in the video. I dont know much about bills though. Great video.

The one and 2 dollar bill were pulled from circulation and replaced with the loonie and toonie coin, save those along with the other paper bills

those commemorative Canadian quarters are so cool to collect and also those Vancouver Olympic ones!

Older Canadian bills with a star in front of the serial numbers are worth money and one's with the devils face in the Queens hair are valuable.
From Nova Scotia, the dollar bills were taken out of circulation all together for coin called the loony and the two dollar bill was later also removed and replaced with a coin called the toony.

1973 is for the anniversary of the mounties. (That 25c can be expensive depending on the bust (small vs large))

Silver was removed from Canada's money supply in 1968 but roughly 50 percent made it through the year process as silver
