Outstanding review sir, the little details peeking out of the sketchy shadows had me laughing, well done. I've bought several flashlights with side button controls recently and I don't think I'll buy another, I simply can't find the buttons when I need to, so I definitely appreciate this one with the tail-only controls...that said one of my most used lights has a side control and a massive magnet on the tail. I definitely agree that there needs to be an ultra-low setting added to this light, whether it's to extend the battery life in an emergency or just to prevent waking up a partner while you're scrounging around at night, it really is a must have.
enlightening review. ive been noticing that my flash light game is lacking. and my best head lamp just broke. this may very well get into my pocket/bag
This is a great EDC flashlight. Tip from another Nitecore fan I've appreciated is to unscrew the back a bit so you don't accidentally turn it on. It's a helpful tip. I'd like them to add a strobe and lower lumen feature as well.
Great review and I agree, I'd like to see momentary on and a lower low. Otherwise I love the form factor and ability to take common AAs. I'm slowly moving away from CR123s and 18650s now that the tech has advanced enough to make AA and even AAA viable options.
Not two, only one 14500 and a dummy AA to transmit the energy through it because otherwise you'd fry the led with 8,4 volts. Nevertheless you would get about half the runtime so it seems kind of nonsense.
@vp2747 that's not my issue, it's mode memory. I would want it to always come in on Hi and then change settings from there. That would make it ideal for me personally.
I wish it had momentary… and like you said a 10 lumen or lower option. How hot does the bezel get after 5 minutes or so on 1K lumens? I’m guessing they opted for no momentary to keep the cost down and I will add I’ve had some lights get drained because the pad was pressed in a pack. I’ll also tell people you CANNOT use that lithium pack in any other AA device. Don’t be putting that battery in anything other than this light.
I have it now for over the month and have the same criticism and expectation as you describe. But I like it very much and I love to have it in my hand surprisingly ! love the grip! Way to improve it, and were thinking using the chargeable battery to decrease the level of the low mode (but still have to check) Using a small diffuser? But I agree the UI need to be worked out
Honestly I totally agree with your con points. I’m going travelling for a few months later this year and I thought this would be the perfect choice of light to bring when it was announced. But the UI is really bugging me. The original MT2A UI is still way better IMO. And 50/60lumens is too high for a “low” mode. Great review dude 👍
@@tacticaltavern I just ordered hahahaha I'll let u know I'm sure it's going to be awesome I do use my current flashlight which is a Protac 1L-AA @ 350 lumens as a force multipler & Kubotan
You sold me on one. They should thank you I had no idea it existed. Streamlight makes the dual fuel 1aa and it’s ok. But it’s only 350 lumens and too fat. Their pen light is only 350 lumens. The wedge has internal batteries idk about that. Same as the edc27 has internal batteries that scares me away
Nah. The WK05 rear switch only controls on/off. So to get to the level you want, you click the tail switch, then move your thumb to the front. Then to turn it off you bring your thumb to the tail switch again. Ridiculous UI

Great review man. Own this light, and it’s my primary defensive travel tool. Such a great value.

I wish it could be programmed to start on high/low instead of memory, for tactical applications
Me too!!
After seeing your review, I got mine. I agree. It is fantastic. Thank you.
Awesome! Glad it helped in your decision
Appreciate you sharing the update 👊🏽🔥
Ordered mine off Amazon today. Paid $39 after tax/shipping
Love mine! So far the best EDC flashlight I've ever had
Rock on!
This would be a great addition for my range bag . Great review Tomas 🔦 🔥
Excellent choice! And on the go you have those AA batteries at the ready 😏

For sure! Plus the more comfortable carry size and easy replacements if traveling ✅
Updates?
@@rmcf3972 Updates on what specifically?
Great video! Would you happen to know if this flashlight is able to take 2x14500 batteries instead of the 2xAA?
I can't confirm from personal experience but nitecore doe shave a list online for what batteries it can take - I would look there for more info

Its definitely good, I wish the UI was a little better.
Agreed!💯
I think there is a way to modify it to have momentary on/off, but requires to disassemble the tail switch.
@vp2747 that's not my issue, it's mode memory. I would want it to always come in on Hi and then change settings from there. That would make it ideal for me personally.
Definitely needs the momentary !!
Right!? C’mon Nitecore!

It really doesn’t get superrr hot but certainly warm- it has good temperature regulation 👍🏽

Hopefully enough people agree and they make some improvements

Awesome thank you for watching Matthew!
You're looking jacked my guy.
Sheesh thank you👊🏽🔥
Paid $39 shipped on Amazon today ! Get it tomorrow morning 🎉
Rock on!! Great score🔥
@@tacticaltavern paired it with CIVIVI Mini Praxis. $30 !! Both arrive tomorrow. Will feel much safer just having a good light and poker just in case
"if you're looking for a flashlight - even a family member or a friend.." that was pretty funny to me😅
Hard to make quality friends
Dude! Check out the Acebeam Terminator M1,.... just picked one up 🔦⚡🔦
I have this flashlight and I think it is a good light.
Me too✅
Dude, I like it! However, check out the new EDC 33 and EDC 35 by Nitecore! 🔦⚡🔦
I just got mine
Nice, how do you like it?

Do you have 1000 lumens in your pocket or are you just happy to see me.

@@tacticaltavern spot to flood feature?
@@tacticaltavern adjustable??
Nope
@@tacticaltavern :( I'm still thinking about getting one tho, looks bright
No strobe so no tactical
Strobe is cool but I don’t think 100% needed to just be considered a tactical light - sometimes high candela can also be very effective too
SOFIRN and WURKKOS lights are way way better and way way cheaper
Agree and 18650 is better in runtime.

That sounds like an interesting User Interface that is not intuitive for the average person but I would have to check that out
Too many modes which for a tactical minded person like me I have no time for hahaha! I just want High n Low n that's it
