Dark Matter is the very first Porcupine Tree song that ever hit my eardrums. It was played for me by my favourite singer and since he died, this song has more meaning to me than ever before. He was thrilled and liked PT very much and talked about his appreciation while he put the song up. I encountered a struggle because I did not like it at all. But he kept on convincing me and said: " Iris, really, you're listening with wrong ears. I know you will love this band." I did not give PT any notion after that first encounter. And a year later In Absentia was born... The rest is history, I'm hooked on PT ever since. ♡
I guess im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
What are your top 3 PT songs? I know it's hard to choose but if you were put a gun on my head, it would be Lazarus, Anaesthetise and What happens now?...
Raul Raphael~ Thank you for your unforgettable video journey perfectly fitting for this unforgettable musical masterpiece! Dark Matter is perhaps my favorite and most hopefully, inspired & enchanting song from the Porcupine Tree catalogue 🎶❤️
Agreed! The video compliments & encapsulates the song. This song has become my personal favorite. Not only the time signature changes, but the mood changes are really unique. Love this band...
So much better with headset! I've listen to this so many times (one of my fav songs of PT), but now, with headset, I realize how much even better it is!
The original is simply sublime. I saw this song live during the FOABP tour, and it was just OK. Some of their songs really shine live, but not this one. The studio magic wins this time. :-)
This song was composed and sung by Andrew Hopkins' friend Mattie who also plays guitar. Andrew is on the drums. This recording was posted anonymously and then used by others under the Porcupine Tree name.
+Jim Hopkins Err I think you are thinking of another band. This is very much written in the style of Porcupine Tree. +ehlmarmo Maitland. His name is Chris Maitland.
+IntermediateJesus Years ago, Andrew started posting some of his songs under the name of Porcupine Tree anonymously. Steven Wilson took these songs and basically called them his. The lyrics are his; everything is his.
+Jim Hopkins Who is this Andrew Hopkins? I try google him but there's no article about him associated with any kind of band. PT started with Colin Edwin, Chris Maitland, Barbieri and S. Wilson at the end of 1993. If you're kind of sure about this information, please give us a link or some source we can read to verify it. In other hand, maybe, maaaaybe you're making a reference to one of the musicians in Tarquin's Seaweed Farm (1989) such as Mr. Jelly, The Expanding Flan or Sir Tarquin Underspoon ._. I dunno.
Absolute genius! And with some really great musicians around him (SW)
