Awesome value, literally last of the old school vehicles on the road. No stop/start BS, no turbo to break, no hunting for the right gear transmission, 87 octane, best in class.
I have a 2023 TRD Offroad Premium...I say, just buy i!!!
Looking at one now 2024, how is the ride quality and cabin noise?
Probably the most desirable vehicle toyota makes currently.
It's certainly desired by me. 😁
Bought one of these today. Traded in a 24 tundra TRD pro. Old school is better than new tech IMO. My tundra experience hasn’t been good
I agree! I picked up the ORP Gen5 before they are gone, I’ll pass on the Gen6.
Is it old & dated? Yes. Does it have cylinder deactivation & the awful annoying stop/start? No..Will it last forever? Yes
Great points! So true
People act like “Dated” is an insult. No, it’s an insult SOMETIMES. And sometimes “Dated” is a compliment.
Love this generation of 4runner
A solid vehicle for those who enjoy off-roading. Not really for those of us that enjoy driving on pavement although it does retain its value extremely well.
Just picked up my 2024 4Runner Off Road Prem today. Awesome!! Get them while they last. Dealer I bought from only had 1 other in stock
Congratulations, I got one 5 months ago for same reason, so thankful to be able to have it!!
Bought a 2015 SR5 brand new for like 31.5K. Crazy the 4runner still basically looks the same! Great vehicles.
This is a great SUV for the money Toyota is asking for.
For sure, it is a good value. Actually, my family has 2 4Runner Off-Road Premuim vehicles (2015 & 2020)...they are bullet-proof. Toyota QDR makes it happen.
Definitely love the looks of the 4Runner definitely glad that Toyota keeps like look of the 4Runner it is a great look
I like the analogue gauges
Me too :) I want to tell my kid that we were that cool…it’s one of the features I love about this vehicle. An old brand new suv.
The 5th gen 4Runner is the best vehicle on the road by far. Bulletproof and timeless design!
Its a nice car if you can get one without a $5k markup. All the Toyota dealerships near me are still adding on a $5k "Market adjustment".
Around me, it's a $10k mark up
I just bought one this past weekend for $1500 under MSRP for a TRD OffRoad 4x4
Still 5K markup around here as well.
Wow ! Still markups? So sorry to see this. In CO on the front range I have found some 2023 4Runners actually discounted a few thousand dollars.
In my area they got a bunch on the dealership and some are a few thousand less then msrp. Washington state
Heck yeah it's a good value, you'll spend way more for a Jeep or Bronco loaded up, and this 4Runner will last twice as long and retain a higher resale value.
*KDSS makes this 4runner Off-Road a winner*
This gern 4Runner has been around for awhile. I think a lot of automakers are overdoing it with all the black colored options but the black badges signal to everyone looking at it that it's a newer model year.
Everything you said strikes a cord with me - I like that I can take it on the beach and be confident that I can get though some deep sand - just wondering how it is on the highway for those 3-4 hour runs when needed? Steering feel/comfort at highway speeds - is the the engine rpms OK with just the 5 speed there as well?
I bought a 24 trd premium a few months ago. Coming from a 13 tacoma with no options, i love this 4runner. I drive the highway to work everyday and am very impressed with the ride. I feel like im sitting on my couch.
They are all SR5 packages
Including the pro and limited
Main advantage of off-road is the kdss which disconnects the sway bar for greater wheel travel off-road and because the sway bar can be heavier it gives a more planted feel on the road.
But they are all SR5 with same engine and transmission.
I owned a Limited and traded it in for a Palisade ... It was a terrible road trip vehicle requiring alot of input from the driver to keep it from drifting and the suspension wears on you after more than a few hours behind the wheel . Theres also no height adjustment for the passenger front seat which for anyone over 6 ft is a problem because your head hits the roof over any dips or bumps in the road ...It's a bulletproof vehicle but you're sacrificing a ton of comfort
95 % of drives are under 20 minutes, so long ride comfort is almost never an issue. Having said that, we bought a Highlander and have no regrets, other than the depreciation will be greater.
@@dawsonnovak It's been a better and more reliable vehicle than the Toyota I had ...
This should have had an interior refresh and a couple more gears years ago. Toyota is sad in keeping their vehicles fresh.
It’s a great choice
It looks likes a off road suv
Superb very strong SUV Dear brother ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
I'm choosing between a 2021 Chevy Tahoe LT premium w/ 44k miles for $41,350 or a 2022 4Runner TRD offroad premium w/ 41k miles for $38,700....it's a hard choice
Unless you need more than seating for 5 it’s an easy choice, 4Runner.
Towing might also be an important factor
Chevy you are out of warranty and they have lifters collapsing due to the cylinder deactivation system.
Toyota will last you 200-300k miles. If you got money to spare, Tahoe
@@jimmyneutron3055 we're going with a 2024 4RUNNER
it looks just like my.....2023 4runner...that looks likes my buddies 2017 4runner.🤣
That's the real reason they keep their value, they never change.
Came for a car review, not a long commercial for lawyers. Killed the review. And by the way, "short people" are normal people too. The strap is for closing the back from the inside!
Normal people don’t get triggered by someone’s speech. Only non-normal people get trigger by words that mean nothing. Maybe he should have said average height or below average height, but you also should understand what was meant and not be triggered about words. These actions make you worse than him. His was unintentional, yours was intentional making you look way worse than he ever did. You can gain way more respect with kindness than hatred.
Its an ad bro skip it or zip it 😂😂
I took one for a test drive. Almost got hit leaving Dealer parking lot as the vehicle hardly moves unless you mash the accelerator pedal 3/4 of the way down. The things a dog. It needs a 6 cylinder twin turbo.
It needs a V8.
it’s not a sports vehicle..
@@bakfixxthen get the GX
I’ve fallen in love with my 23 and am obsessed with it sooo much more than any other vehicle I’ve ever owned. It’s not a dog at all. You just need to get used to the gas pedal compared to whatever vehicle you’re used to. My first test drive of the 4Runner was very different that how amazing it becomes
This ford guy gotta lie about the 4Runner
“Everytime you get in this car… it starts up.” -4Runner
And still no automatic headlights….
Lol you lose one man card
Yep. It's a cheap upgrade that makes life easier.
Trd pro and limited have auto headlights. Seriously though, something I don’t personally care too much about even though mine has it
@@norsemanix2358 I like auto headlights ad the tech is cheap and reliable.
around 45k near me for one of these over 12k less than the trd pro
This was a let down. Last year they at least added the heated steering wheel. I don’t even see a front facing camera.
Use your eyes.
"I only need four wheels and a steering wheel at this point."
Goes and buys a G-wagon. (sry, had to)
LOL😆😆😆
Did you say “5 speed” for the transmission?
Yes
@@BenHardyCars
Seems like it should have 8-10 gears in it like most trucks / SUV’s now a days
5 speed works. Why change it? I don't want to come off as a know it all but I kind of am. New transmissions that aren't proven are a really bad idea. Ask any dealer tech about engine or trans updates. Bad news
so has there been any changes from the 2023 ? ive been waiting for the 2024 drop to see if any changes have been made.
I have 2022 and is the same 😂😂😂
I get my 22 brand new love it sr5 premium 7 seats 4x4 black trd wheels no better suv out the no way 😂😂❤
The annoying thing is that dealers seem to be only buying the Premium models and not the regular Off-Road model. I'm in southern California. I don't want or need heated seats or vinyl upholstery. I prefer cloth seating as it's cooler and more durable. The regular models are as rare as dragon's teeth in the dealerships.
I just wish fuel economy was better as I commute an hour to two a day
The new generation 4runner will out sell all SUVs and off road vehicles!
It does not have remote start 👎
Great, if dated truck, not in any way shape or form a great (driving) car. Mushy handling, lackluster performance, pathetic ergonomics/infotainment and cramped interior. But a classic trail crawler.
As someone who is 6’3 that’s muscular. I find it more spacious than a Jeep Wrangler. But not as spacious as a Bronco. It’s not bad, but not the best
It's a truck, not a car.
@@timalan7406 yeah, but it drives even clumsily for a truck, really a poor handling and performing vehicle on pavement, which, even for a 4-Runner, is where it is being driven 98% of the time.
@@tpolerex7282Name a truck that doesn't fit your description? It has to be a full frame truck for $40,000.
@@tpolerex7282 Just what I thought, a lying turd Bata male. Keep your KIA sport, it suits you fine.
So is the final verdict that kdss is worth the extra 1700 plus ? this one doesnt have it correct.
It's not worth it.
You're not even going to notice it.
Most people don't even know that they have it and get all happy when they find out that they do lol It's worthless especially if you're going to do crawling. It's mostly for high speed off-roading turning etc. It's also more difficult to make any modifications with KDSS. Most mechanics don't even want to touch it.
Nice truck, bad commercial
What color is that?
👓
Did the vehicle you reviewed have KDSS suspension? I’ve read that it’s an option on the Offroad trim, but not standard.
It didn’t. You can see a KDSS light when you start the vehicle
KDSS is so overrated.
People are paying extra for something they don't even know they have, want or need.
Think about it Why doesn't the pro model have it if it's so great?
4 Runner ✖️
Slow Runner ☑️
No one ever bought a 4Runner for speed.
@@timalan7406 No one ever brought 4 runner only for trails too
@@motogene9367 There are people who bought 4Runners for trail running only.
@@timalan7406 Too bad .. If you are looking for trails wranglers are far better .. 4 runner always stands a good balance between trails and roads , mostly roads .. Almost 16/17 years old V6 terribly tuned for fuel economy makes 4 runner ridiculously slow on highways
@@motogene9367 Like it or not, that is what makes Toyota such a great truck- keeping the same engine for years and years and years without change. Engineers at Ford can't tell you all of the engines they have put in the F-150 over the last 16/17 years. Same with Chrysler/Jeep, GM. They never perfect what they have; just move on to something else. Jeep Wrangler is a far better off roader because it's short wheel base with the axels pushed out to the ends of the vehicle. It ends there for the Wrangler however, and the 4Runner owns every other category. Toyota makes trucks that could compete the the Wrangler off road but, they're not sold in the US and other than reliability they would suffer the same problems the Wrangler does. I like Jeep, I just wish they would fix some of the problems.
Still built in Japan!
The TRD Pro is a better trim level for the 4 Runner, it's more of a base model vs a luxury or off road
Not so, KDSS on the Off-Road is better for off-roading. Add more upgraded tires than the PRO and suspension. Result less money more off-road worthy.
Looks like Jack got triggered!
If you don't care about vehicles, why are you reviewing vehicles?
So glad I waited for the 2025 this interior looks like 1980... hahahahahahah
Good❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ak 47 of trucks......
Way to expensive….Times are changing 50.000 is no deal it will be evident next year…….Even Toyota will have hard times ahead
That $50K car will last longer than any turbocharged 4 cylinder hybrid engine
@@tedrickrumohr1261 let’s not argue the obvious that’s not my point……the car market is crashing and Toyota will fill the pain just like all the other car manufacturers they will be forced to lower their prices……..period
@@brads1545 You are clueless and have no idea what is going on in the car market try talking about things you understand……
@@byronrios4005 Actually, prices are going to go up. $35 per hour jobs are a dime a dozen. This truck is relatively cheap.
@@timalan7406 obviously you are not looking at the big picture it doesn’t Matt if people are making 35 an hour you will see soon the car market the housing market are in the early stages of the crash by next year we will have massive job losses …people won’t be able to afford much…. If you understand the coming financial crisis like I do it would scare the hell out of you…….
