Hi Eric, sorry to hear about your goby, I think some strains of cyano can be toxic and might have led to his demise , high phosphates and iron can cause outbreaks and it tends to grow faster in warmer water , but higher alkalinity tends to discourage it, hope this helps and if it was easy where would the fun be, stay positive happy reefing, working and keeping a reef tank is pretty hard work
Thank you Jim! I really appreciate the insight!! Going to do some more water changes this weekend depending on what my nitrates/phosphates look like today. I really liked that goby. Not going to replace him until the cyano is gone though. Thanks again and happy reefing!
Hey thanks for watching! Yes good point. I don't have any crabs in either tank for that matter. Might be a reason to go to the LFS on a rainy day like today :)
After you run chemiclean, you need to add good bacteria back in, or it will happen again. A good one is seed from aquavitro. I would also use it whenever you do a water change. I dont know what you dose for alk but kalk works wonders and can help raise ph which can also help with the algae not coming back.
Thank you very much for the information! I was not aware that you need to add good bacteria in again. Shows how much I use Cheimclean.. Really appreciate the input!
Hey there! Thanks for watching! Yes I am still dosing AFR. I don't think I will change as it seems to work well for me. I'm currently dosing 35ml a day.
