Hi Tugboat Willy, what are the spec's of the Capt Brian, length, width, weight, engine power, electrical supply, fuel capacity and price to fill.speed knots, how long can a full tank of gas last. the most dangerous job you experienced, is Capt Brian the biggest Tugboat in your port, do you or the crew live onboard fulltime? curious subscriber.
Hey now! Thanks for your enthusiasm and support! She’s about 100 ft long by about 40ft wide /400gt /about 7000hp/she holds about 50k fuel / fastest I’ve had her is 15kts/ she is one of the biggest tugs in the harbor/ we live aboard full time for 2 weeks then go home for 2 weeks.
I have questions. I can understand the part where you push the ship out into the channel. What I don't understand is when you are attached by rope to the ship, but apparently just sailing alongside. I can't see that you are pulling, pushing or steering. I am really enjoying your videos, but I would really appreciate explanations of what you are doing and why. Thanks.
Hey now! I that point we are just an escort. So if they need us to slow the ship down in a hurry we can back on the line. Also we can help turn the ship if necessary
Hey @TugboatWilly , Can you do a video on how you got into this industry and what it takes to do this career? I’m looking at changing my career path over to the commercial maritime industry, and would love some insight! Thank you!
Hello Captain, where can we get a drinking mug like you are using ? Great video and I like the way you let things work out without constant narrative. Just explaining the needed information. Stay safe Captain!!
Another great video. Loved the view from the bow. And you can’t miss TimbatSea on the radio! You should see if you can sit down for a chat with him one day. Would be some good stories to tell between you I am sure.
Do you own your ship? If so, can you give us a detailed walk around? Maybe another video explaining all your controls and knobs from the captains chair? LOVE these videos. Excited to see what the winter looks like!
No I do not own the boat but I love driving it around! There is a couple of videos explaining the wheelhouse and a walk around of the boat up on my channel
#60 I watched you manipulate the controls like a Surgeon. At the Sault Ste. Marie Locks in the Sweet Water Seas, some vessels require tug assist to keep them against the sliding wall. Very well done, Dr. Willy, er Captain Willy! Yup!
The variety of ships you work is amazing to me. This one looks like it has had rust longer than it had paint. But the other day, you worked a RORO that looked like it was spotless. Great stuff!

I'm curious... what is the working lifespan of this tug? How many years will it last before it is scrapped?
Hey now! I’m not really sure but I do know we have some tugs from the early 70’s that are still going strong. Thanks for watching!

10:03 "Full ahead" heck yeah!
Love to let her eat!!
Hey TW question why is more maintenance not done to these ships the amount of rust seems crazy
It’s doesn’t take long for the rust to come. Probably just a few months. They probably do there best to keep up with it. Also depends on the crew.
How much do u make a year? Or hour
I’m not going to go into all that but it’s pretty good money. Thanks for watching!
love these videos, super indepth / informative. i keep them playing on my second monitor
Hell yeah! Love hearing that!! Thank you 🤙
How come these ships can't come and go by themselves?
They are really big and really heavy. Thanks for watching!
Would’ve been fun to see some of the journey from the yard.
I will make that happen in the future! Thanks for watching 🤙

That’s the swing meter. When the boat gets to swinging really good that thing gets to beeping
