court tv, I implore you to try to understand youtube.
As a Cameraman who is fourth generation, 40 year, member of the movie making industry, I’ve worked on big movies, little movies, big TV shows, little TV, shows, commercials, etc. I’ve even shot two westerns at this particular location. No one got shot, no one got hurt… because the WHOLE crew were pros. it’s been said before already, but this particular project is indicative of what the movie business has become. Hiring people with very little experience and putting them in positions that they’re Unqualified for. Dave Halls has been around and he knows better. But he’s also one of the people in the business that liked being a bully and that didn’t have regard for the below the line crewmembers. In all my years in the business, I have probably been shot at thousands of times… By blanks. And every Armorer I’ve ever worked with had always communicated with me and the rest of the crew about what blanks were in the gun, how many shots, etc. They also guarded the guns like everyone’s life depended on them… because it did. there are protocols in place that have existed for decades to keep something like this from happening. The essence of this particular project is… “let’s go as fast as we can, cut every corner and if we run this crew into the ground, we don’t care because it’s only three weeks and most of them don’t know any better”. Production thought Dave Halls will just steamroll the rookies and that’s just what he did… Thankfully, there were a few pros on the show but not enough in important positions. Of course Hannah is responsible, but so is Dave Halls, so is Gabrielle pickle and so is Row Walters and in the end, so is the executive producer, Alec Baldwin for hiring these incompetent people. All for the sake of saving a buck…
It’s a microcosm for what the business is now. These people should ALL pay a severe price. But to me, it should be Dave Halls and production that should really be punished the most for their cavalier attitudes…
Very interesting!
He should be I. HANNAHS seat. Liar and pled nolo for a reason. He was supposed to hand baldwin the gun weather he did or not.
Why the producers such cheap skates ?
Thank you for describing how a set with guns should have been handled. This was a tragedy and shouldn’t have happened. It’s horrible how sloppy they were.
@@tonystevenson26cheap film
I was an AD. This set was a disaster waiting to happen. Too many people unqualified at their position and too many people not doing their jobs. Shameful. Horrific.
I’m convinced a Botox Party was held the day before trial started.🤣🫦👄💋
NAILED IT! The set was a cluster fk. Alec wanted everything on the cheap cheap. Alec wanted a rush job. Yes, the girl was "the weapons chick" but nobody agreed to get training. The girl was given another job as well...ALready had a film crew bounce and I believe they wanted to complete movie finished in 12 days. This was a complete unprofessional negligence disaster. This girl messed up, yes, but she is not solely to blame by a long shot.
The rot is from the top
when they filmed Rambo they had the Canadian Army on set to look after the guns, on this set they hired her 😂

The film should be re-named: "Rush".

Should be renamed 'Whoops!'
Very sad to see people in the comments go after this guy when he is literally the only one who has owned up to any fault and plead "No contest" to charges of negligence.
The armorer haven't owned up. The actor firing the weapon hasn't owned up. This guy did. He admitted he should have checked the gun and didn't.
@@demi8890 I don't think you understand the word "gaslighting". He admitted to negligence. If you think the sentence for that isn't harsh enough so be it but this guy didn't write the law. If the prosecution thought they could go after him for more they would have. That's how the justice system works.
Also his job wasn't to babysit the armorer at every turn. She was hired to be in charge of gun safety and didn't keep the guns safe. How much clearer do you need it spelled out?
@@demi8890 You may be the only one baffled over the fact that the armorer is seen as the one most responsible for a gun related incident. Her job description is literally to ensure that people aren't getting injured by guns on set. And yet you can't comprehend why she would be the one most responsible. Amazing.
Read my post above. There is a video on crime. Circus showing him, take something off the armor cart and slide it in his pocket. What was he sneaking off that cart?
That gun wasn’t to only be checked by the armorer …. It gets double checked so he was just as responsible and it should be that Alec had a responsibility to check it as well. All 3 failed in safety measures but this guys owned it. If that was my job to check it and I didn’t do it properly and someone died I would own it bc that is hard to live with. Disgusting how someone’s life is disregarded…. The live round didn’t get there by itself and not one or two but 3 people missed it 🤬
He admitted to a lesser charge. They dropped his involuntary manslaughter charge for his testimony. He’s a fraud. He’s as guilty as she is. He keeps changing his testimony when it turns on him.
I don't understand why there would be live ammo on a movie set🤷♀️
That's the real mystery.

I’m not in the US, but some people have commented that New Mexico is an open carry state, so they couldn’t exactly ban it.
@@Ad-Lo even in an open carry state there are limitations that can be imposed by the owner or operator of property that is their responsibility. For example, I’m not aware of any bar that doesn’t impose a No Weapons rule because of the storied history of people drinking and becoming trigger happy and angry. The set of Rust could have insisted on any conditions they made clear, and although I’ve never worked on a movie set, any script that requires guns be used would be literally playing Russian roulette with the number of dummy rounds or blanks potentially getting mixed up with live ammunition.
Excellent point. Strange how the most obvious question
I used to think this guy was a bad guy. My opinion has changed. He is a normal guy who was A) negligent in not checking the gun and B) the ONLY person who was moral enough to accept responsibility.

In his testimony for his plea deal he said that HE handed the gun to Alec Baldwin, now he says SHE did! How was he allowed to get away with changing his story?
It doest matter who handed baldwin the gun. It matters who loaded it. Do you agree?
@@festo512 I think it only matters who loaded it if this was intentional, the checks are supposed to prevent things like this, she should have done the correct check but he should have insisted on it when he watched her do it. When he handed it to Baldwin he knew that proper check was not done, he was the last line of defence at that point but Baldwin never should have pointed that gun directly at anyone and definitely not that close! He’s lying about his actions here though, why would he do that?
THIs is what the prosecutor wanted!!!
There were numerous firearm safety violations on set and Halls was oblivious to all of them. There is video of him strolling through set between takes with actors pointing guns at each other and he did nothing. As safety director he should have resolved these issues prior to filming.
There is a video out there, showing him taking something off the armor cart and slipping it in his pocket after the shooting. I want to know what he was doing with whatever he took off that cart.

Shame on her father for recommending her , full well knowing she was a mess ! Drugs , no regard for safety…
Such a tragedy loss of life !
I'd be willing to bet that her father had created those live rounds because the headstamp on the cartridges was from a company that does not manufacture live ammunition.
She's young, timid, and inexperienced, which means she isn't respected on the set. Unfortunately, an armorer needs to be respected to be effective.
I also think she didn’t know what she didn’t know. It’s a classic example of the Dunning Kruger effect. I’m not saying that her ignorance in any way absolves her of her responsibility as a professional (which she pretended to be). My point is, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
She is old enough to decide whether the responsibility is too much for her and walk away... Nobody forced her to the position... A precious mother died and a colleague was wounded... They were the victims...
An amorer also can't be blitzed on coke to be effective. 😢
She clearly wasn't qualified. Daddy got her the gig. She looks like a movie star in court, in the footage of the set, she looks like a stoner who just rolled out of bed, put on the same clothes she had on the previous day, failed to comb her hair, & went out the door. Her attitude makes her look like a child. This unfortunate incident will hopefully make her grow up. Unfortunately, that wont bring back Halyna Hutchins.

They were both offered deals. He took it. She didn't.
All Baldwin had to do was miss. Simple as that. The first thing we are told as kids, even with play guns is "Don't point it at anyone". He aimed directly at people. The last chance to avoid disaster and he failed the most basic, most overstated, rule regarding firearms.
@nightfall902 you are 100% correct, he also never wanted to be bother to check the gun himself which was his second mistake. They can blame her all they want because she's the easy target but 99% of the blame should be on the guy who had the gun in his possession and recklessly pointed it at people and pulled the trigger. Instead they are throwing the book at an inexperienced new hire who never shot a gun to be accountable for safety and alec Baldwins actions. Has anyone ever heard him loose his temper? I'm sure Hannah was more than terrified of him and David halls
Nicolas Cage was “visibly upset” when Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer under scrutiny over last week's fatal “Rust” shooting, fired guns without warning on the set of “The Old Way,” a different western movie filmed in August, a key grip for the production told Inside Edition.
“There were some incidents that kind of raised some red flags with me,” Stu Brumbaugh, the grip on the set of "The Old Way" said.
Brumbaugh says the young armorer was the subject of gun safety complaints on the western starring Cage.
“[Cage] just said, ‘Can we please make an announcement when we’re firing guns? You blew my eardrums out.’ He was visibly upset and walked off,” Brumbaugh continued.
Didn’t he get immunity, strike a deal and only pay a $500 fine?
Wasn’t he the one who wanted to continue filming after Helena got shot?
he is the 1st AD that's not his call
hes the one who also set up brandon lee an h.b halicki
There was No expectations of the armorer and no expectations as to how weapons and rounds would be stored. Hannah was a cheap hire & it was a free for all on that set.
How did live bullets get scattered among the rest of the ammo? How can the armorer defend that?
This is inconceivable. There should never be any live rounds anywhere any movie set. NEVER
With there being so many makes and types of bullets, and the dummies looking nearly identical to live ammos, I can imagine if the armorer was scatterbrained and not focused on their job that a mistake could be made very easily if proper procedures weren't taken, which it seems they weren't. Not only was she overworked, but she was new to the scene, and she was not making sure everything was perfectly organized and was not following proper procedures. I think production should have hired someone with more experience for a movie like that, and perhaps had her on as an assistant gunner for her to earn more experience. They likely hired her because she was cheaper than most other armorers that have 20+ years experience and come with a hefty price tag. She should have walked away from the job if it was too overwhelming for her and she couldn't do what needed to be done, and production wouldn't let her have more armorer days, but instead she stayed on and tried to juggle everything with her novice skills and it lead to this.
I think she said she was on a bathroom break? She wasn't in the church when the gun went off, but she was somewhere there because police detained her lol@@douglash.8862
@@CraiiZeD I'm not saying she was high during filming, but her text messages implicated her as doing drugs during the time.
The picture I get from listening to these testimonies and watching some clips from the set, is that they basically had a table with bullets laying around and that they all look pretty similar,...It's completely non understandable they did not have it more organized AND a protocol to follow when dealing with things that could mean life or death. It's Russian roulette..
They all seem terrified of “Mr. Baldwin”. Hmmmmm…

It trickles down from the top. It was well known Baldwin was trying to cut every corner possible to make this film as cheaply as possible. Baldwin and his production associates displayed complete disregard for safety in return for saving money. This included hiring an unqualified Armorer to pay less money to.
"Young and vulnerable". Maybe then she shouldn't have taken a job that involved being responsible for gun safety? "He was responsible for all" is a good pretend line because it doesn't mean anything. Productions hirers armorers, stunt coordinators and other professionals for specific tasks because one person can't be involved "ALL SAFTY" in a production. Then nothing would ever get done. Should he also inspect all the sets to make sure the scene rigging were up to code? No. You have people hired to do that.

Have you seen the body cam video when David Halls, right after the shooting, sneaks out, what seems to be gun cartridges, from the prop cart and dropping them into his empty gun holster? Halls is way more guilty than only negligence, he was obviously tampering with evidence. He didn't look sad at the location right after it happened and in court I strongly believe he produce (no pun intended) only crocodile tears.
Why did producer Halls have a revolver holster at him?
On a video of the LE body cam, he looked like he was hiding something in his front pocket (evidence) perhaps while acting like he was trying to calm Hannah down, which I don’t even know why he was there 🤷🏼♀️
He looks guilty for some reason
that's because he is also guilty, as the main person responsible for safety on set.
and also had the weapon in his hand to give it to Baldwin
he already negotiated a plea deal about a year ago
I would love to have someone ask him " how did the production expect The Prop Master and Armorer to TOTE around Loads of Guns and Ammo around an outdoor movie set in NM with gunfire scenes and the like happening here there and everywhere "? Answer should include "we had One Craft Cart". Of course since Hannah Gutierrez Reed had only ever been armor on one other movie set - - she didn't have the experience - mindset and preparations needed to show our on that set the entire first two weeks with any of her OWN STORAGE -- TOTING - Locking Bins - Sorting Bins with Labels for Different AMMO ! ? ! ? ! ? . . . . . The storage and movement of the guns and ammo is a KEY SIGNIFIER that Firearms Were Not Properly HANDLED BY ANYONE - -Including MR Halls. What a Criminally Negligent Film Production. I seriously hope the public does not support watching any version of this film.. No-one should make a single dime off this hapless grouping of negligent and callous A$$H0LE$. Helena Hutchins is Sadly Badly Missed and They are ALL RESPONSIBLE for IT.
You seem to miss the overarching point, she loaded the gun with live ammunition she said she checked and as the more experienced armorer said, Don't take the job.
The victims husband became the new executive producer. So her husband and son shouldn't see money from this movie she died while filming?
Total snake in the grass, the type of dude who would push women & children out of his way to get to the lifeboat first.

Fun fact. A man on the Titanic actually did that. He dressed in women's clothing to get on a lifeboat. When he was found out he settled in Connecticut, was nicknamed "Skirts", and lived the rest of his life in mortification. His house was 15 minutes from where I live.
?
Man she definitely played a role in this, but it kinda seems like everyone is just throwing her under the bus.
Edit: multiple people can be at fault for one situation and share various degrees of fault. Trying to minimize your fault while maximizing someone else’s, is throwing someone under the bus. She’s clearly at fault.
they want her to take the fall so they don't but the 1st AD and the producers are responsible for the safety of the crew. he should have had harsher consequences
I somewhat feel that too. I can't deny she is a bit of a scapegoat. But her job as an armourer makes her the number one suspect regardless.
They had a right to rely on the armorer to ensure a safe gun. There has never yet been a movie made in Hollywood were it wasn't "hurry up, move faster".
I totally agree with you that is her sole job and she should have definitely been more responsible. I'm not saying she's not responsible. She totally is. However, I think they should all be treated equally.
@@gingergamer3270
She does hold the ultimate responsibility, there must be consequences for her. But I agree, she shouldn't be the only one who feels the consequences.
Also, I have to say, I have problems feeling sympathy towards her, when in first of the post shooting video, right after the incident where she speaks with police officer, her only concern is that she blew her career. That's pretty chucpah, given the fact that she's saying that while young mother was still dying at that point due to her atrocious negligence.
He sees the gun, it's empty, he says; Hannah sees the gun with him, he says again that it's empty. She gives the gun directly to Alec, but it's loaded. How does that happen? Isn't that the key question?
That’s where I got lost? I felt his testimony was very shaky. So he is inadequate at checking the gun or he lied. Or trying to protect Hannah.
Not buyin da cryin
When anti gun people make movies with gun violence.
Bingo
This film was budgeted for 8 million dollars. Low budget. You get what you pay for and this was an absolute tragedy. 🙏🏼
And a crappy movie, to boot
Both Baldwin and Hanna can be criminally responsible for the shooting for Ms. Hutchins. It is not a either/or thing.
How about the moment this man says "privately owned weapons" were used on this set and that this weapon was owned by Alec Baldwin.
Why was there a REAL gun on set ??? Are we not intelligent enough to replicate a gun with a fake? There should NEVER be a REAL gun on a movie set. Im so confused
So that it looks real. I imagine in the future there won't be.
Need a real gun to shoot blanks, which they did. There should never be real bullets on set. And if the scene didn't involving shooting, then a fake gun that doesn't shoot should have been used

There's something about his testimony that isn't ringing true for me. His movements of the gun after Helana was shot seem out of line. The cavalier unsafe handling of the firearms on this set is mind blowing.

He said the set medic was with her and 911 had been called. So she was being treated by a medical professional with more on the way and he left to give them space to treat her and to give the crew direction in a chaotic situation, which is his job. This is the only person who has owned up to his responsibility, pleaded no contest, and served his sentence. You may not think that sentence was enough, but that is not his problem. That’s a problem with the law. He can’t be prosecuted again for the same crime and unless Baldwin has paid him off, he has no reason to lie. I believe this man has real remorse for his negligence, has owned his part in this, and served his sentence
In my opinion the only thing he testified to was his own incompetence.
Guns and drugs don't mix.
In my very limited experience shooting revolvers I noticed that pulling the hammer back with the thumb of the gun hand can be a little awkward and the muzzle will rise up. Your response is to squeeze the handle harder. If your index finger is on the trigger guard that's OK but if it happens to be on the trigger you could be pulling the trigger without knowing it. Nothing happens because your thumb is pulling back the hammer. But as soon as the hammer is all the way back and you release your thumb... kaboom!
I've wondered if he sqeezed the trigger without knowing it due to unfamiliarity with pistols. He probably really believes he didn't pull the trigger.
This guy using wrong terms for parts of the revolver then saying he could tell the dummies from live rounds by the color of the brass tells me he put more rounds in when he saw there was only 3. 3 dummies were in so he put up to 3 more rounds going by color & not checking for the hole or rattle, at least 1 of those was a live round.
A guy that never used a gun checks it, and feels so guilty about not checking for all the bullets. Here he wouldn’t be punished, he is no expert so they asked to much of him. The actor wouldn’t be punished, because it’s not his job, the production maybe, if the bought cheap set of bullets or highered someone that hasn’t enough expirience (and here u need a lot of tests to be allowed to work in that job). The 6 live rounds would. Be the biggest part and u could be sure they would get dna and finger print tested. (That shocked me), if u find 3 u still have an idea, if u found it of her father she took it from home……

That's why she is on trial for not doing her job.

Perhaps
When was the gun cocked? Someone must have cocked it! Baldwin wanted realism inclusions of gun, for gun knowledgable film viewing audience, it was said. To be camera-captured. The Script was, Baldwin character was hiding gun on his person in the Church. Who cocked gun? When was gun cocked? What did film crew watching see? This Counsel woman doesn't seem interested to know that detail. Baldwin wanted realism. Script may have affirmed close-up of gun firing. What was condition of gun when armorer handed gun to Baldwin? Cocked or not cocked? Halls or someone should have noticed this. All crew incl. Halls were watching Baldwin. Counsel doesn't even ask Halls eg. 'what did you see Baldwin do with gun after it was handed to him by armorer'. eg. straight in under his coat.
This poor guy!!! I hope he finds peace!!! Bless his heart for standing up and explaining what happened!!!
In the police interview, he said Hannah showed him the gun, he checked the barrel and then Hannah opened the gate and he saw three dummy rounds but he didn't spin the cylinder to check the other three rounds like he's meant to before the gun is handed to the actor
And that wasn't her job before handing over the gun? Please......
@@Leaveit_alone Im not talking about her. Im just saying he changed his story
He's the only one in this shltshow to take any responsibility for what happened and ppl still malign him.
This Prosecutor was aware he was fired in 2019 and was also on the set of Brandon Lee's movie The Crow in which he died.
What is she covering up?
Why was he only charged with negligent use of a firearm? He should not have touched it at all.
Hall was an AP and his main job was safety. Does all of this stink?
I think you’ve got the defense and the prosecution mixed up there genius.
It took 5 seconds, 5 FREAKING SECONDS for me to prove that you're either a liar or a dangerous fool. He did NOT work on Brandon Lee's film The Crow, he worked on the SEQUEL to The Crow - a completely different project.
Next time check your FACTS before you make yourself look like an idiot to the public. Details matter.
He was charged and took his plea deal it’s on UA-cam
P.S. I just noticed your name is "focusintegrity8490". What, did you think it would serve you well to name yourself after things that you did not know the definition of?
He was essentially found guilty but he took a plea deal.
Nasty prosecutor, horrible judge.
He says that he asked her if she's okay .she said I can't feel my legs. she's just been shot ! and he just walks away to go call 911 ....
what a nice guy to leave her dying
maybe there was no phone in the church ? maybe this location is too far from a cell tour ? We don't know
He said the set medic, who is a medical professional, was treating her. What could he do there? He went out to call 911, give them space to treat her and to give the crew outside information and direction in a chaotic situation. Obviously, this guy was negligent. He pleaded no contest to those charges, has served his sentence and can’t be tried again for the same crime. He’s the only one who’s taken any responsibility. there are many things you can say that he did wrong that day but I think leaving that room is a big nothing burger.
It seems as though film and television is made without effort and made for quantity over quality these days. It’s a shame what happened. Sending thoughts to her family.
💯agree
She belongs in jail. This is a perfect example of how nepotism is dangerous in Hollywood and definitely any profession like this. At least he owned up to some fault unlike the people who are clearly more guilty
this guy is a clown
"4 out of 6, good enough, it's safe!"
Everyone on that set it seems. I’m guessing nobody competent in Hollywood wanted to work with Alec, which is how he ended up with this slacker crew. He has a reputation for being an A-Hole.
@@OwnageNoobifyTHAT is aggravating
This must really be effecting his bottom line. He can’t afford a necktie, undershirt or haircut. Poor thing.
Holy s*** this guy didn't read his body language watch what he does listen to his tone change
Horrific play by play by the witness 😢😢😢😢
Show of hands guys :
🦆 =guilty
🐢= not guilty
🦆🦆
Like to get the body language folks on this...
I was wondering if the state offered Hannah a deal?
And the Oscar goes to…David Hall🎉
Why were there live rounds on the set in the first place? To me, that should be the first restriction on all movie sets.
You are correct, there should never be any live rounds on a movie set. Except maybe in guns of security guards that leave them in their guns that aren't used for filming the movie.
My God the lawyer keeps interrupting the emotion of the defendant. Let him weep, this isnt still the movie. On the other hand Hannah doesnt seem to show any emotion
In a make-believe world, why would you not use make-believe bullets?? JS.😮
The live round shell casing was probably discolored by being fired. New ammo is shiny and dummy rounds are most likely a real casing that's been modified, so to me shiny brass doesn't differentiate a dummy round from a live round. If you are modifying a live round to be a dummy round why wouldn't a person remove the gunpowder then punch the primer completely out so if you inspect the round there's just a hole where the primer should be. No primer no discharge.
Dummy rounds (hero rounds) are often old. They are handled and reused over and over. The dummies shown in photos have been primer struck by a firing pin so they are likely spent cases that were taken to be reassembled without powder....one standard practice in making movie inert bullets for period and modern films.
Another method is to drill the primer out after taking the ball and powder out, then returning a rattle bb and the ball (bullet)
So the exhibit dummies and live found on the set show older dull brass of various mfg on the dummies and shiny brass with *-* Mfg brand and nickle silver primers...as if all of them came from one box or source and got mixed throughout the set.
If his testimony is honest, the sheriffs don't know what was in the revolver, because he and Reed unloaded it before the ambulances and deputies arrived
halls is one fried dude.
the producer who testified earlier was one ditzycat too
Her reaction is the real issue ...all about her...playing Russian roulette for fun...she ordered a puller....she put in the live rounds on purpose
Magic Bullets eh. If what he is saying is true, then she loaded a live round into that gun. And he did not pay enough attention to check the firearm, even though there was at least two other incidents with firearms on set.
So the live bullet looked differently.
I just watched her interrogation. It seems like they come to the conclusion that somebody intentionally messed with the bullets because the one that killed her had the imprint of the company that only makes dummies. Yet there was a live round which I think means that somebody intentionally did this. I can't seem to get a good handle on what has actually happened.
That is not quite right. The police corporal investigating made a mistake about the manufacturer of the casing. They told her that they did not make live rounds and she misinterpreted that. The company made casings that were supplied to other makers who used them to make live rounds. Indeed, the police woman said in court that she actually had a casing with that marking in her official work ammunition when she checked.
@themulti-coloredcanary5795 Hannah brought a box of ammo from her house to the set which was labeled Dummies (apparently they were from her father who is an armorer) however there was live ammo in the box mixed with the dummies. She never noticed that and ended up loading the gun without doing the proper checks to ensure all were dummies.
@@wethenorth6437 That is one theory but there is no proof of that.
There are also discussions among crew members and friends of crew members who mentioned there were disgruntled crew members on the set, any number of whom could have added a live round in the gun, for retaliation. There were disagreements over motel lodgings, long working hours, lack of craft services, few breaks, no safety meetings… all archived and publicly online (if you know where to look).
Somebody blitzed on coke could accidentally load a live round. 😮
Alec pointed the gun and fired the gun.
Dude is a terrible actor
The INDUSTRY, is important! In the first place!
We get it Dave Hall me you aren’t responsible for anything.. Yet you have many civil suits against you. Hopefully those suing you will win to hold you accountable! Yes you are responsible! You had no concern on the set for safety.
He literally plead "No contest" to the charges against him. You have a funny view of "not taking responsibility".
The casing would have been thrown out of the gun. How did he see it still in the gun? He has never had or shot a weapon…..that explains it
