@jessicabecause3717 why do you have to be rude? Does it make you feel less insecure? I don't understand why people are so hateful to people they don't know. You're way too comfortable being rude to strangers you disagree with. If you have something of value to offer to the conversation....then please do. I'm certainly not opposed to others having opinions. It is strongly apparent that you are.

A lot of people testified seeing the gun cart looking sloppy. If that's true, then the big wigs on set like Joel Souza here did, too. He says they emphasized "see something say something" on set as part of their safety protocol. Seems plenty of people saw something and said something, and ended up walking off the set.

Certain crew and cast members would shoot at things (cans, bottles, whatever) with real bullets between scenes. Question is: who made the live rounds possible? Who requested them , and who provided them? There's your guilty party, responsible for the young mom losing her life on a movie set (working to provide for her family). It's heartbreaking. What makes it worse: This was nothing more than a lousy, Hollywood western flick. Supposed to be make-believe. Pretend. A person is dead. Drugs should never have been part of the equation.

I don’t think there was any deliberate intention here. Negligence, unprofessionalism, maybe if true ; the drugs that have been mentioned , all played a part. Whether it looks as though people don’t care or not what the tragedy was still doesn’t make it intentional. There does have to be some kind of consequence but it’ll never ever be able to make up for the loss.

I tend to empathize with most defendants and had I not given up on law school I would have chosen to be a criminal lawyer. However, I’ve watched the body cam footage from the day and am rattled to a degree by Ms Gutierrez immediately bemoaning what a failure SHE is. The fact her concern went directly to her own career when someone was bleeding out on set and possibly even deceased at that point when they sat her in the cop car….i dunno…just gives me an icky feeling.

Yea ok, so the man who has written and is in the process of directing the Low Budget independent film is now to blame for the criminal act of bringing live bullets onto a set. The man cannot be in every phase of the production and hired professionals to do their job .. and he took a bullet in the shoulder that went through a woman who died. He admitted he was looking at a scene of gun being used and he knew Hannah was not present for that scene yet they continued to rehearse scene. Joel knew there were safety complaints that caused workers to voluntarily leave job and guns going off before at wrong time. Therefore, he cannot say it's impossible for this to happen and that he was shocked. If he wasn't shot he would've been also looked at with scrutiny. Have you ever worked on a movie set (at 26) with Alec Baldwin (about 63 at the time) yelling at YOU to hurry up with more bullets? (This was caught on camera and I saw the footage). Now of course there should never have been live rounds mixed in with the dummy ones in first place. And in the end that is her fault, but there is supposed to be a safety check every time the rounds are loaded and unloaded and when possession of the firearm changes.... I could go on an on.... But Alec's behavior prevented her from operating at a pace comincerate with her job.. partly his fault for creating a stressed/rushed environment (also caught on video)
But the whole thing would never have happened... neither would Brandon Lee have been killed by a gun on set (Making The Crow) if movie firearms were totally and absolutely incapable of accepting or firing live/ real bullets. Brandon's case was a bit different in what let up to him getting shot but if prop guns were made differently so that they can NEVER accept OR FIRE lethal rounds he'd be 59 today... instead of dying at 28... We make a lot of things idiot proof. Seatbelts, steering wheels, electrical outlets, plumbing etc... Why can't we make these props guns idiot proof?

Watching this, I can't help being reminded that I probably knew more about firearms at 14 years old thanks to the Boy Scouts of America than most of the people on this set knew as adults. First rule- every gun is always loaded!. Second rule- don't point a gun at anything you don't want to kill... I had a single action revolver at 17, and fired it thousands of times without incident. The fear and avoidance of firearms by most people baffles me... I learned about guns for the same reason I was taught about cars, or deep water, or strange dogs, or electrical wires...... "Could be very dangerous - you need to know about these basics.....duh!"

The prosecution was generating sympathy for the witness and the victim while weaving a narrative where Gutierrez-Reid is the sole person responsible for gun safety on set. The defense was introducing reasonable doubt by revealing that Souza has no expertise in gun safety, no direct awareness of whether or not the armorer was even there, and that in the absence of the armorer, it's actually the first AD and producer (Alec Baldwin) that are ultimately responsible for gun safety. That's why they're asking questions "in a different way". Both did a very good job.

If indeed Hannah G. checked all ammo and it was all dummies, there is reasonable doubt about who did what with the pistol after Hannah passed it off in the church and was instructed to leave the church. They needed another full time armorer on this set and for some parts maybe more than 2. Hannah really should have packed it up and left after Sarah Zachry fired a blank while lading a pistol , too bad she didnt fire a live round... then they would have known to check the ammo boxes. Inexcusable the DA gave immunity to people who were liable for this miss hap making it impossible for Halyna H. to ever have justice for her life.

photo shoots, films, are made of of pretty much all independent contractors. Those people hire more independent contractors. Studio have very few people on the payroll that are FTE. The Producer(s) are the ones making sure all the parts are in place, paid for, and aligned prior to production. Producers are not experts at any or all the parts of a production. They might be experts at acting in the case of Baldwin but they may know next to nothing about how a camera works. Trying to do stuff on the cheap is a great way to have a disaster. Even the producers have the financial backers behind them demanding the film get done so they get their money back. There is huge pressure to get something for nothing. That is why I am so shocked that this kind of thing does not happen more often. However if you look at how much it costs to insure people who work behind the scenes on films or TV, you can see that insurance companies know the dangers. Its also another reason why unions have power, since the people doing the work also know how dangerous it can be.

Vinny is a shill for ‘the system.’ His bias against Alec Baldwin screams. How about some objectivity?! Geez

This dude will never produce another film or direct another film in his life. His career is pretty much over.

Because he got shot? Because Baldwin's production cut corners wherever possible and hired an incompetent armorer who brought live rounds to set? You've got to understand the degrees of separation in responsibility here. Joel was there to direct a movie. To tell the cameras and actors what to do. He's not the first assistant director who is in charge of safety on set or the armorer who is in charge of guns. Those are the two people on this set who will never have a job in movie making. Souza bears no responsibility for their failures that caused Halyna's death and his injury.

Only one person was in charge of all the guns and bullets the armorer. It was Hannah Gutierrez responsibility.

I believe that too. I think the whole thing is very sad but an accident --

Of course it was an accident. But it was preventable and someone died. Negligence must be punished. Guilty.

So you think negligence leading to death should not be punishable?
What if this was done to your family member? It’s established that Hannah was doing drugs in the evening - even the night before the incident.

Not all shootings are purposely done, this was done because of carelessness and that is also criminal
