2x 30 cameras. This video was shot on two days in Paris In March 2012 with 17.000 fans and they had 30 cameras to film it. So all together the cutter had to handle 60 cameras in total. It took the producer Jonas Åkerlund quite a while to bring this masterpiece together and broadcast this epic video

    • @nobodynemoq
      @nobodynemoq 11 місяців тому +6

Too bad he came up with some silly ideas, like these lightnings or speciall effects in other videos. The number of cuts is really irritating - "Du Hast" is still acceptable, but some other videos are so insanely intensively cut that it is hard to watch them.

@@nobodynemoq he cut this perfectly. The stage show is all the band. If he is editing a live show from 2 shows, 30 cameras, he can only give us what the band gives him.

@@incitingariot9925I disagree, the editing pretty mich ruined the great footage. Just because you have 30 cameras doesn't mean you have to use them all at all times. I am a music video editor myself, and I have to hold back on cutting too fast sometimes when there are too many good shots I don't want to lose, but if you cram them all in, none of them can breath. I like fast paced action and Metal videos, but some of those Songs from the Paris concert are nauseating and frustrating to watch even for me.

I am German, so please excuse my english. When you hear this song as a German you hear "You, you hate, you hate me" all the time. Suddenly you understand he means "you have asked me" and then it gets wild. The direction and the meaning change totally. One of the best German Lyrics I have ever heard! Even after 30 years.

My German was lost when the teacher started explaining how German language has male and female wording, her example was a door and doorway.
A title similar to the male and female in French.
Odd we don't have the terminology in English.
I am curious, did Rammstein take their name from Ramstein air base in southern Germany.
American air base although most NATO forces used it when deployed to Germany.

It's known as "paraprosdokian", a technique where the meaning of a phrase suddenly changes when new words are added. Rammstein using homonyms (two words that sound the same aloud) in order to set it up is an extra layer of genius. The wordplay in Rammstein is often so intricate and brilliant.

This show was recorded with about 70 cameras. The xXx-Song (Vin Diesel) was "Feuer Frei", not this one. I think this one was used in a David Lynch movie. The lightning and of course the slow motion shots are post production. The fire is live. The rocket launcher stunt is visible for the audience even though it is not exactly what it looks like.
Rammstein's first album came out 1995. The line-up has never changed. The song "Du hast" is from their second album "Sehnsucht" (1997).
The first three words are "Du hast mich" (you have me) which at that moment doesn't make any sense in German. But it sounds (intentionally) the same as "Du hasst mich" (you hate me). Later in the song, the first three words are extended to a full sentence: "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt." (You asked me and I did not answer.) And then, to show what he was asked, the chorus is a wedding vow: "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage?" (Do you want to be faithful to her for all days until death do us part?) This is answered first by a kind of female voice "Ja" (yes) and afterwards by Till's harsh voice "Nein!" (No!). These - plus a slightly obscene word play on the wedding vow, that I will not explain here - are the whole lyrics (repeated a few times).
In the making of for this song they said that it's about their connection in the band.

I’m a German teacher - so, your translator was correct. Du hast - you have, Du hasst - you hate. Keep in mind that songs are meant to be heard, not read, so a listener could interpret the lyrics as “You hate me” or “You have me.” The written title is, of course, “you have”, but the brilliance of the song is the dual meanings. I actually use Rammstein a lot in my German classes because, believe it or not, their lyrics are fairly simple and repetitive. I use this one each year when I first teach the conjugation of the verb for “to have” (haben). “Ich will” is another one you should watch. All the pyrotechnics (including the lightening on the keyboard) are live and not done in post, so if you ever have the chance to see them live, GO! Their produced official videos for these songs are also great. Rammstein always has a deeper meaning and a lot to say.

In addition to explosives, meter-high flames and a dazzling light show, the band also brings one of the world's biggest stages. Hello, I have been a Rammstein fan since 2010 and would consider myself an expert. Hopefully this comment will explain some things for you. Firstly, I can assure you that all the fire is 100% real. I've been in the Feuer-zone(front row) 5 times. Unfortunately lightning is not yet a part of their shows. Over the past year I have been following the band around their European tour. This music video for Paris most likely used shots from multiple shows as they usually play in big cities multiple times. The band was formed in the early 1990s and because the band was formed in East Germany their music is inspired by their experiences under the Communist Regime. In 1994 the band won a music festival competition which won them the production of their first album. One of my favourite performances of theirs is of the song 'Mein Teil' which translates to My Part and is about the cannibalism case of Armin Meiwes. When it comes to lyrics I typically find Genius to be a good source for accurate translations. Recently there have been accusations against the lead singer. I don't want to go too far into it but the band has stated that the accusers have their story and the band has theirs. I really hope this cleared up anything that y'all were confused about. Also feel free to ask me any questions, I'd be more than happy to help. Thanks!

Note: In XXX it is "Feuer Frei" which is the command to open fire. The song "Du Hast" is used to wake up Method Man? in the movie How High. By the way, they sometimes use the fire shooting face masks from XXX live as well.
And there is a doble meening in the vows as well. "Willst du bis der Tod euch scheide" means "Do you want until death separates us". But once they sing "Willst du bis zum Tod der Scheide" which translates to "Do you want until the death of the puXXy" ;-)
And check out Electroc Callboy - Tekkno Train! (Fuckboy, Pump It, I got the moves, ...) they are all insanely amusing but really well done songs and videos!

    Re.: Lyrics
Apart from "have" and "hate" being homophones in German, there’s also grammar to take into account.
In German, you don’t have the strict subject-verb-object word order. So it’s a bit like Schrödinger‘s sentence, it lives in a super-position where two meanings exist at the same time. Only as the sentence grows longer does it eventually collapse into one specific meaning.
Let me try to explain: In German, the word order is different. Instead saying “you have asked me”, one would say “you have me asked”.
I’m the song, the sentence grows line by line:
    “You”
    “You hate/have”
    “You hate/have me”
At this point, 99% of native speakers who never heard the song before would hear it as “you hate me”. But once the final word is added, it can only mean “have”:
“You have me asked” (= you have asked me, see above)
    From where he continues with:
    “And I have said nothing.”
So through the use of this homophone, Rammstein create the imagery of a relationship which is possibly abusive, where the man feels hated but at the same time is expected to marry her. Only at the very end does he clearly state “No!”. Of course this can be interpreted countless ways, but I’m only describing the language and the craftsmanship thereof as it doesn’t really translate well into English due to the different grammar.

They use a 7-camera set-up on their live performances. 4 robotic and 3 handheld.
Feuer Frei is the opening song in Original XXX movie.
All of the stage EFX (lightening bolts, etc.) are live. I’ve been to their live show. What you see on the screen is the same as what the audience sees.

Yes, Rammstein has been around for a while. They are from Germany, what used to be East Germany, when it was still East Germany. There is yet more possible translations. Du could be ‘to’ but it also the intimate form of ‘You.’ Germans use ‘sie ’ for the general ‘you’ but they use ‘du’ with close friends and family; loved ones. So Du…du hast….du hast mich, is “You, you have, you have me.” Or “you, you hate, you hate me.”

After over 20 years they have a massive fanbase all around the world with very much germans and countries east of germany up to russia.
This was a small gig, now their concerts begin with about 35k to 50k locations, but the most are about 70k to80k, sometimes up to 130k visitors.
Translating these lrics is damn hard, even in german it is hard to catch what they want us to tell because most of their lyrics are in a very poetic way. It is like reading old books from the 18th century.

@@Hun73rdk Yes, but these coils can create just small discharges up to few centimeters. You can see on some older Rammstein shows, that all you get from these coils is a buzzing glow aound them. To get so huge lightnings, tesla coil would have to be few meters high and wide, and Flake would just get fried if he was hit by the lightning (unless he had a specially designed, grounded full body armor.
And besides that, although this effect is done nicely, you can see it is a postproduction when the camera focuses on Flake's hands

You take reaction videos to another level. I wonder if you would like to hear a different side of these guys? If so, check out the ballads "Ohne Dich" (make sure to watch the video), "Mother" (live in Paris, a Frankenstein humanoid' curse/prayer to the mother he never had - highly emotional) and "Mein Herz brennt" (piano version, the official video! A gloomy sandman who lives on the nightly tears of sleeping children, which makes his heart burn), "Zeit" (best lyrics ever about time and death - graphic content). Bonus track: the Cover version of "Seemann" by Apocalyptica ft. Nina Hagen - the music Video is Amazing, way better than the original.
Bonus Track 2: Listen Till RAP on "Mathematik" it's so good but maybe too controversial for a reaction video.

    [Verse]
You, you have, you've _______ me
You, you have, you've _______ me
You, you have, you've _______ me
You, you have, you've _______ me
    [pre chorus]
You, you have, you have me, you have me
You asked me, you asked me
You asked me and I did not say anything
    [Refrain]
Will you until death do you part
Be faithful to her for all days?
    (Yes) No
    (Yes) No
Will you until death do you part
Be faithful to her for all days?
    (Yes) No
    (Yes) No
    [Verse]
You, you have, you've _______ me
You, you have, you've _______ me
    [pre chorus]
You, you have, you have me, you have me
You asked me, you asked me
You asked me and I did not say anything
    [Refrain]
Will you until death do you part
Be faithful to her for all days?
    (Yes) No
    (Yes) No
Do you want to the death of the sheath
They love even in bad days?
    (Yes) No
    (Yes) No
Will you until death do you part
    Be faithful to her
    (Yes) No
    (Yes) No

(sounds like they say Fire! Fire! while shooting flames off stage) they filmed the scene during a live concert without Rammstein's advanced consent, it was a single take in the movie.
