Thanks again for you videos Don, I love your down to earth training style, no hype, just honest info. Question? When you say to practice with the MACD do you mean with Tastyworks or open demo account and trade!
Hello Carl. Good questions, thank you. The best way is to open an account so you have live quotes and then do practice trades by keeping (only) a journal and make notes about why you trade and how.... I have an entire chapter in my book where I suggest you do 25 successful trades in practice before using real money. My book is on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/dp/169897941X A great many of my videos illustrate how to use MACD for trading signals. Do the paper-trades so you gain confidence before trading with real money. This is very important. "Successful" trades by my definition are just 'win' or 'lose' but mean any trades that 1) make a profit, 2) trade that get a profit and you don't give it back by holding too long, and 3) trade where you keep a close limit on your losses- where you to not resort to 'hope' as a strategy but get out quickly before you lose too much. Any of these are "successful".....practice until you get 25 of those in a row (not easy to do by the way) - and you will gain confidence from your work. Watch my videos, I go over this in some of them. Good luck. - Don

Hi Don! Thank you so much for your lessons. Your videos are amazin in content and production. Congrats! HERE IS A QUESTION: If the Micro e-mini Nasdaq is $2 a point and the TQQQ ETF is levereged 3x, is it correct to say that the TQQQ has more leverage than the Micro e-mini Nasdaq???
As you know ETF trade like stocks: Yesterday on TQQQ ETF, here's the price and change: Your ETD opened at 9:30 am ET at 62.60 and it closed at 65.75, a gain of 3.15. the MNQ margin (full margin not intraday rate) 2062 which would have bought 32 shares of TTTQ. Yesterday the profit on this 3X ETF would have been $103.75. On the NASDAQ (same day) opened at: about 8667 and closed about 8810 at 4pm, a gain ($2 per point) of $286. so 286 divided by 103.75, so the gain on the MNQ was 175% higher. Thus, the MNQ leverage was much higher. As you know (I hope), gains are commensurate with risk. Still the NASDAQ100 futures had the higher leverage by far. I will assume you could have done the math yourself. Just because an EFT is labeled a "X3" doesn't mean that is not a correlation of net leverage with the underlying of the ETF, it only applies to a relative 'rate of change.' You should also know that there is often a significant difference between the 'last trade' and the overnight adjusted NAV (the net asset value.) So the answer to the question is 'definitely not.'
Thank you Don for such a detailed answer. I truly appreciate it. I will continue to see each one of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Would love a video on Stop limits and Trailing Stops. They have saved my bacon a few times these last few weeks but I really don't feel like I know what I'm truly doing with them yet.
Yes! Especially how to do it on Tastyworks. The vids of theirs I've watched shows how to use it trading equities and options, but not on futures. I see an ORDER TYPE menu, but I don't see Trailing Stop in the drop-down that menu.
@@kennethneveski1892 I'm having the same issues as you are. I haven't seen a video on Tastyworks that shows a tutorial on doing future trades. I've tried doing a bracket order on Tastyworks the other day when market was so volatile and had a big loss because I couldn't put a stop loss. Hope Don can help do a thorough video soon on the tastyworks platform. I wouldn't trade with real money right now as you can have a big up or down move within seconds. You'll either be on the right end or wrong end of the trade if you dont know the platform.
Be careful out there! Even the modest $2 per point of NASDAQ100 Micro is fluctuating over $100 in less than five minutes. Very dangerous/risky trading at times. I advise stay on-the-screen and be very, very picky about times to trade. Patience pays. Trade fewer times and wait for very strong signals.more to come.....

Hi Don, I have a question: is the MACD a lagging indicator or does it hold pretty true to what's happening in the moment? Thanks and have a great day! Enjoy the videos very much.
Technically, it is a lagging indicator, however using crossovers can often be used as a leading indicator. So the answer is in the use of it. My application is that it is one of many tools in the box, I'm not strictly a technical trader, like the ones that expect to find some infallible answer that locks in some fixed trading system - that is Easter Bunny's territory.
Hello Don. Wondering if you might be able to help me with the “mechanics” of how you place your trades. As you are watching the MACD lines for the right moment to place a trade, I’m assuming your finger is on the mouse ready to click and execute the trade when the MACD is telling you to. What happens after that is what I am wondering about. Do you then readily enter a stop order at your desired risk level/price, then continue to watch the real time price and MACD action with your finger on the mouse ready to get out of the trade when the time is right for a profit? (when MACD lines begin to converge or if you feel you would just like to get out at that moment for whatever reason). I’m assuming you can’t really set a desired price/level (pre-set order) to get out of the trade for a profit, because you can’t predict when the MACD lines are going to be optimally positioned. Thanks for your help as always. -Randy
Do you ever use a stop loss before entering a trade? You never mention it before and all books I read telling me to use stop loss for protecting capital.
Hi Don! Great video! Why does price action look different at different time charts. Even the MACD looks different. On a 1 minute chart the indicator shows overbought, but in a 10 minute chart it shows as oversold. As an example. Is the 5 minute chart the best chart for day trading? What are your thoughts?
You will understand better with experience (practice). FYI: The 1, 5, 10, 15 minute settings are SUPPOSED to be different. I use 5 all the time myself. Not everyone does.

You should also know that there is often a significant difference between the 'last trade' and the overnight adjusted NAV (the net asset value.) So the answer to the question is 'definitely not.'
Trade fewer times and wait for very strong signals.more to come.....
what time frame to you usually use Mr Don
5 minutes and I keep this consistent. This video my offer something you can use (see below) Thanks and good luck to you- Don

I use the common default values: 12, 26, 9 Chris. If you are new to the channel, I have two short playlist setup for anyone who cares to see them; they cover many of the basics:

Obrigada!
Amanda. You are most welcomed my friend. Good luck - Don
Thank you so much 💪🏾👍🏽
Any time, Daniel. thankyou
How do I get the green line? My MACD only shows the red line. TIA
Hello Tia ---and welcome to the channel. I can help with that.
Here's a video of how you can do it manually: ua-cam.com/video/_x-oqxZ2yO4/v-deo.html
And I do have a link where you can download a copy my personal setup file, install it in your tastyworks, and it will use the same screen configuration I use--- automatically.
This link is to a zip subdirectory: bit.ly/MicroSetup Just click it to see it and unzip for the file, then copy the file to your computer (remember the location of course), then open TW, and look in the upper left when in chart mode and click on the grey box labeled LOAD, select the file and click. That's it.
If you have a problem, just call TW help (888) 247-1963 and tell them you want to install a ".twchart" (that's the file extension) file and they can talk you through it.
Download the file by clicking this link: bit.ly/MicroSetup
Or if you have my book just email at the address in there and I can email you the setup file directly.
Good luck. Let me know how things go for you. - Don
@@DayTradingMicroFutures thank you kindly for taking the time to explain it to me in great detail! I will be buying your book kind sir! ❤️
YOu bet. oh..... I notice I said that LOAD box was upper left, should have been UPPER RIGHT (THERE IS A "SAVE" BOX right next to it, so you can save your customer configs for the charts. Let me know how things go.
Thank you nice lady. - Don
does this work for Micro E-mini S&P 500 Index Futures ?
Hello Mindy. YES. If you are new to futures / and the micros be careful and please practice trade to gain confidence before you risk any real money. I use the 'trade journal' method instead of just a ledger or only a play money account. My thinking on t his is in this video: ua-cam.com/video/L7Mxb65KBa4/v-deo.html good luck to you and stay well. - don
-Randy
keep watching more videos and do your practice trading. My next video will be about stop orders...should be up in a day or two. thanks.
What Web can download browse to trade, thanks
not sure I understand, try this video please: ua-cam.com/video/L7Mxb65KBa4/v-deo.html
Thank you and welcome to the channel.
Do you ever use a stop loss before entering a trade? You never mention it before and all books I read telling me to use stop loss for protecting capital.
Yes, good advice with the volatility in this very unusual market (3/23/2020).
@@DayTradingMicroFutures Can you make a video about it, thank you.
