Do you need a DAW?
In this video we are going to show you how to use your Microphone and record your voice through your Fantom.
You can change the settings from Line to Microphone Phantom Power as input.
Remember to activate audio in either via the sampling function or via editing the effects through the menu settings.
You can apply Noise suppression which is very useful to remove that background noise, be careful on unwanted feedback. You can also apply low cut filter and further Level and pan settings.
In the video we show you how to change reverb settings as well alongside applying a delay effect to your voice.
The vocoder is quite powerful in the Fantom; you can change settings for your carriers, the individual bands, even down to microphone sensitivity and HPF…
Lots to learn and have fun…

Great…
That robot thing i GOTTA try and use!!
👍👍
You just got new subscriber. Nice tutorial
Great thanks
Thank you for introducing mic with Fantom. I have Fantom 07. Can I do voice pitch correction thru the Fantom? Can I sing into a mic connected to a Fantom and press the melody note key I want my voice to be and will Fantom correct my voices pitch to be the note I’m playing? Thanks
You cannot do voice pitch correction… for voice pitch correction and for example scale quantisation you need external software…
Hello I have been watching your very informative tutorials -and subscribed . Quick question , can one record vocals into the fantom 0 with backing tracks already created within the fantom to create a “demo song ?” Or would i need a DAW or multi-track recorder ? Thank you again
Thankyou
👍
Thanks.
You are welcome
Hi Leo, Beginning of the video; How did you very quickly jump to a bank (bank select) with the panel buttons? I could do with that and any tips 😉👍
Press enter :)
@@soundformore Thankyou! :) Didn't find this in the manual or videos- grateful ;)
You are welcome
Thanks for this! I'm curious how to apply effects (specifically delay) to the vocoder besides using the Master TFX that apply to everything. Both the MFX and the IFX seem to come before the vocoder or not affect it- do I need to somehow reorder the signal path for the zone I'm using?
Are you trying to apply a delay to only audio in where the vocoder is and avoiding for that delay to be applied to a zone where an internal sound is being played?
Was that initial noise coming from the mic or from the preamps in the Fantom's audio interface?
Well, just a microphone connect to the input with preamp gain on the Fantom very high…
Also can you edit the audio? (Ie, if you had to do more than one take?)
Yes, but you have limited functionalities,no time stretch for example, you can do basic trims, it is not an audio editor or sample editor, it doesn’t have a concept of multiple takes, although you can record and save as many time you like…
is there a way to record the mic input without the need to hear it thru speakers or headphones in real time? like the direct monitor knob feature in the scarlett 2i4 2nd gen.
But at the same time hearing the other sounds?
@@soundformore oh yeah, that too.
Hello, does Roland Phantom, in addition to 16 midi tracks, also have an audio recorder? Can you record a whole song on it?
Yes it does have a sampler with 4 voices
I'm getting my fantom today. Is there a way to record audio into clips? or can you just record keyboard sounds? EDIT: Nevermind I see you have another video about that. Kind of bummed out that you can record Audio loops like Ableton or the Akai force but I guess I'll deal with it.
Yes, maybe it comes with an update
There is a workaround but it is not nice… you record multi samples as a preset and then call each audio sample on the clip, but it is not like recording or sampling audio to a clip
Can I record band rehearsals with the Fantom 0 (and a mic) at the same time as I'm playing on the Fantom 0?
Only using the Fantom? Or with a PC and therefore with an audio interface?
@@soundformore Only using the Fantom - and a mic of course.
At 7:50 in your video you say that you hear nothing when you press the keyboard. But I hear the choir when I play the keyboard. What can I be doing wrong?
Is vocoder on?
@@soundformore Yes, and I tried it several times. Will try once more when I have the time, but any suggestions are most welcome.
Ok let us know
is there a way to control the volume of the mic with a fader or knob?
Not that I am aware of in terms of assigning it to a specific Knob or Slider
Great tutorial! Please could you help me with some configuration? How is the right way to connect an external Delay/Reverb pedal and a RC505 Mk2 (looper) and make them return to the Fantom to reccord a song in the Daw?
Sure, can you please explain first what you want to do with both in relation to the Fantom? Is the Fx before the looper? After? Are you trying to record the Fantom to the looper and fx and then back to the Fantom for recording? Or just playing?
@@soundformore Thank you for your answer!
So, let me explain:
I want to use the Fantom as the main piece on the setup because of the habbility to record directly in the DAW. I'll plugin a Korg Wavestate to it and use the Pattern Reccorder for ALL the Keyboard part of the setup, seems it's easier than using Loop to rec on the grid... My problem in this part is to use the Microcosm pedal (delay/Rev) on the Keys section.
For the Guitar, Vocals and percution I usualy use the Looper RC505 mk2... but again my problem is to Put the Microcosm pedal on the Setup to Work with bought parts of the setup, the Keyboards and the Looper.
My poor way to setup it was using a Mixer (Tascam Model12) plugin every instrument on a channel, using the AUX 1 & 2 for the 2 pedals and returning it again to another channel in the mixer... but I feel like it loose A LOT of quality on the signal chain.
So, this is it, I Hhope you can help me on this! Thank you very much for your time and attention.
(sorry for my english)
I need a bit more info please… how do you currently record the looper into the Fantom? or do you skip this and use the DAW?
For now I use them separatly. The Fantom I Record inside of it, and when I need to put the clips on the DAW for the Mix&Master I put in the final moment.
I route all the instruments in the Mixer and send only to Aux 1, that is the Looper, them back to mixer Master channel. The same with the fx pedal but with Aux 2.
But I think it's not the right way to do it...
Ok, I see if I can create a quick video, if not I will try and write a longer reply…
Does anybody have any tutorials on recording background vocals in the Roland fantom keyboard
Same process of recording audio as in other tutorials on the series. I guess because of limitations on the sampler it might be better to import the vocals into the Fantom 0… although you can connect additional equipment and then record them into the Fantom 0 as well…
@@soundformore OK thank you next question can you record a full album into the Roland Phantom
You can, I would personally use other tools alongside, but technically you can…
👍
Thanks
Sound of mic is low how to gain up the volume of mic?
Did you try changing the knob behind the keyboard?
Yes, but too much difference in tones volume and mic.
2ed. Zone 9 to 16 not responding
You can adjust the line input from the routing section
Do you have smooth transition for scene on?
Esse vocoder é do Fanton 06 07 08 ? Ou somente no Fantom top ?
From the Fantom
