Btw, I'm not implying that any of those herbivores in the memes were STRICTLY herbivorous. Many mainly herbivorous animals will supplement their diets from time to time with meat. But point being that Therizinosaurids were not the only theropods to adapt to be herbivorous.

"Most predators" aren't twice the bison's size, unlike the dryosaurus or kamptosaurus, which got bodied left and right by theropod monsters. That's the key thing to note; how do these animals stack up AGAINST their predators? Can a dryosaur bite an allosaurus' arm off? No. Can a bison send a wolf flying with its horns? Absolutely! That's something Tierzoo keeps in mind. How hard do these herbivores make it for their predators to kill them? With 0 offensive capabilities, you'll be a sitting duck. Dryosaurus and kamptosaurus were sitting ducks to allosaurus; meanwhile, iguanodons were bigger and therefore tankier against allosaurus' attacks. (Also, the reason I keep mentioning allosaurus, is because that's the apex predator of its time, therefore, the threat the "players" have to worry about most)

Tierzoo tends to rank modern animals depending on a mix of how well they do fighting other animals, how much babies they have per lifespan, and how frequently their young survives into adulthood.

I remember from one of tier zoos first videos where he said t.rex is s tier where he should be
The problem with this tier list and many of tier zoos videos is that he tries to balance the tier list but uses only the most popular animals and so he feels the urge to put many animals lower in the tier list than they should be
This is especially problematic here where he is dealing with a time period of nearly 170 million years so basically all notable dinosaurs should be A tier at minimum simply because of the fact that if we have enough material now to consider them note worthy, that means they were probably pretty dominant back when they were alive

Another thing to note with Komodo Dragons is that, most of the time they prefer hunting their prey outright than waiting for them to bleed out or injecting them with venom. Komodos are very muscular and their teeth are large and sharp enough to cause serious injuries, especially when they prefer targetting the limbs to subdue their prey. Their speed is also relatively fast for short bursts, which are good for short ambushes or pursuits.
The infamous water buffalo scene became a trope for bad bacteria or venom Komodo dragons, but the major thing is that water buffaloes love to wallow in water and in that specific instance it was wallowing in polluted water after being bitten which made the infections worse.

Brontosaurus excelsus was considered to be similar enough to Apatosaurus ajax to be moved into the same genus, but different enough to remain its own species and in 2015 it was found to be different enough to warrant its own genus once again.
However, Troodon was simply undiagnostic, meaning scientists can't tell what is Troodon and what is not, making it unlikely for it to return into use.
In an hypothethycal scenario where the same thing that happened with Troodon and Stenonychosaurus happened with Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus, Apatosaurus would come to be considered invalid and its material reassigned to Brontosaurus.

My problem with his list is that he just picks out some random Dinosaur species from separate time periods and only talks about one scenario of why they are low or high tier without thinking the other.
For spinosaurus, he isn’t talking about what makes it very effective as a animal in its roll and instead just puts it on low tier due to the reason of its extinction which was climate change, in that case any dinosaur would fall to that category.
And puts sauropods (not even a specific species) on top tier cause their Invincible, without thinking of how low their survival rates are as Infants.
Wiles Ranking coelo and allo low or mid because their Ealry dinosaurs, even tho he acknowledges how Adaptable Coelos are in their ever changing Environment.
Either way, I find his ranking quite Inconsistent and doesn’t have a specific category to concentrate on, most his statements also feel like their only based on Old docs.
If I really would do a fair ranking to every species, I would do separate categories to either only a group of dinosaurs or a specific ecosystem/formation instead of randomly picking a random dinosaur from different eras.

Thanks for making this lol. This TierZoo video was already full of holes but when he got to the raptors it just completely fell apart. Good to see another paleontology fan covering this!

38:00 I can't remember the name of the documentary, but I believe Rickraptor105 made a video on it called "The adventures of dinosaur X and Ed the badass" or something along those lines, so consider checking that out if you're interested.

Thank goodness TierZoo did not use Jurassic World as their source of dinosaur "facts" nor even use footages of that film (it's not even a dinosaur documentary and it's a flipping entertainment movie!). I'm glad they used Dinosaur Revolution's very accurate Ankylosaurus and not Jurassic World's really awful Ankylosaurus design for once in a dinosaur video. :)

They have found sauropod trackways in places like Wyoming and Spain showing multiple animals moving together with smaller individuals more in the middle of the group. That might indicate herding behavior, at least some of the time

The ceolophysis with young was most likely a parent nesting with it's young when it died is the most recent assessment. However it's still widely accepted that many dinosaurs were somewhat cannibalistic because it's pretty common in general.

the problem with tier list is he is extremely EXTREMELY biased on his favorite kind of animal
people keep saying he is comparing the animals in combat but that’s not true
there has been tons of time he brought up how successful an animal is or how well adapted it is to it’s environment as a positive point and make the animal high tier
case in point? the Tyrants being B tier when it was the biggest, strongest, and arguably the most successful large land predator of it’s time… being B tier (which is straight up stupid no matter how he ranks… and I say this with T rex being far from my favorite dinosaur)
when carchas, which would get folded if these two predators would ever fought, are in A? what are we comparing Ark dinos?
how he ranks almost completely depends on how much he likes the animal or type of animal
and if we are going purely on “gameplay” it’s still very flawed ranking because he put anything that isn’t his favorite “play style” in mid to low tier (both Tyrants and spino or stegos are extremely successful for their environment but because he doesn’t like them they are in B, C and D)

He clearly has a bias for sauropods, as he sounded very upset about them going extinct in his cryptid video.
And he also doesn't like hadrosaurs, as he said they'd go extinct if they were alive today (though I forget which video he said it in). He legit thinks modern animals would outcompete gigantic hadrosaurs. Like, what?

The reason why tierzoo did the tier list the way he did is because he makes the tier list off video game logic or how good is something is at killing other things

if there is a group of ornithomimids would that be a pack , or a herd, or a flock?

    • @No_name8374
      @No_name8374 Рік тому

Pack is more commonly associated with predators. Herd is more commonly associated with herbivores. And flock is associated with birds. So flock or herds is what u would call a group of ornithomimids.
