FILM DESCRIPTION:
In a world where zombies form the majority of the population, the remaining humans build a feudal society away from the undead. Ruthless Paul Kaufman (Dennis Hopper) rules and protects this microcosm but enforces painful class distinctions. Second-in-command Cholo DeMora (John Leguizamo) attempts to lead a secret rebellion against Kaufman's tyranny, but when the zombies begin to evolve, the survivors must discover a way to protect themselves from a zombie hoard that can learn and adapt.

It's crazy to see the progression from night of the living dead up to land of the dead. Zombies slowly growing in intelligence over time. We got to see it happen slowly. First in Night where they grabbed tools to smash things, in dawn where they started gaining memories of locations they had been, then in day where they start to learn to speak and use tools properly in case of bub, and then in land where they actively use objects, communication, and tactics but also seem to show some kind of vendetta against those who attack zombies.
It's scary because you also see them get stronger and faster over time as well. Truly terrifying.
Terrifying ... or encouraging
Think that the smart zombies (the Alpha, the butcher, the blonde girl, the trumpet guy ...) they kill soldiers and those who offer resistance, but they don't eat human flesh unlike the rest of the zombies
It's like they've realized they don't need to feed on anyone in order to stay alive
They attacked the city because they were moved by revenge for their fellow friends, which means that sooner or later it will be possible to reason with them

Always knew Romero's Dead movies were in the same timeline/universe. Tom Savini pretty much confirmed it by doing this.
According to Savini himself his zombie has a been undead for a year he said this during the behind the scenes so apparently this movie take's place a year after Dawn of the dead

Diary of the dead
Survival of the dead
Dawn of the dead
Day of the dead
Land of the dead
Night, diary and survival take place in 1969 because everything still looks old.
Dawn takes a few years later in 1975
Day takes a decade later in 1985
Land of the dead either takes place in 1995 or 2005
Romero only goes a decade later as terms of a timeline

Land takes place in 1979, humanity now is virtually extinct with only a few number of strongholds exist.
Tom Savini's the best, and here he plays one of the most intimidating zombies I've ever seen on film. He doesn't even bite the people he grabs. He's not a ravenous corpse driven by an instinct to feed, he's an undead killing machine with a machete!
makes you think is Tom playing the same character from dawn of the dead that he played, he was a biker that got shot so is it the same guy but he's been a zombie all these years.

@@Mephileshomer Probably why he is smart enough to just kill and move on to other targets instead of putting himself at risk by taking time to eat. He's been around long enough to learn a lot. As ever since Bub we've been shown zombies can learn.
Him and Big Daddy remind me of Special Infected Zombies, being very unique and WAY different from average zombies. What’s interesting is that instead of having a mutation/super power from the virus, they’re just smart and attack differently instead of biting. Reminds me of Left4dead & Dead Island.
@@mariocooper1996 except the Left 4 Dead Infected zombies they're just called that because the crew think they're zombies but they're not really zombies they're just humans infected with the green flu that progresses their mind causing them to lose human progress but yet are faster and stronger impact

Soldier 577 One the biggest reasons why tons of survivors perish in this movie is that they don’t know how to aim! In the Walking Dead, two guys with assault rife are more than enough to fend off half of the horde

the walking dead was inspired by this series, kirkman is a huge fan of romero, also in this movie you'll hear for the first time the term "walker" before it got into the show in 2010
He didn't die. He was knocked out in the mall water for so long that he just looks like a zombie now, and the undead basically said "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." and he's with them now.

Savini is such a badass
It doesn't make any sense for zombies to get smarter with time. They're rotting flesh. Their bodies have been decomposing for decades at this point, that includes their brains. The smartest they should ever be is immediately after turning, beyond that, their ability to reason should be falling apart along with everything else.
George Romero created the flesh eating corpse coming back by a virus
One thing about all these zombie movies, I just cannot be believe human kind cannot make any mechanized metal armours for soldiers (including metal gloves and helmets). No zombie teeth can bite through these armours!
