Bought Elite 9 ti2 because it was advertised as coming with in built Cmap of Australia. had massive amounts of contours, but no ability to change shading. First and last time I buy Lowrance. My small 5 inch and cheap Garmin unit has had this for 10+ years...
It’s about time Lowrance produced and delivered a technical instructional video like this. I watched an earlier video by Mike Ike. Thereafter, I invested over a dozen hours to achieve what this video could have produced for me in minutes. Works perfectly on an older Elite Ti also.

Can you suggest a color strategy for setting up depth 1 and 2??
I would love to use your card and be able to take advantage of this feature on my HDS Live units. I fish Lanier mostly....I need one for GA. I heard one was being released for GA but last conversation I had with you folks at Lowrance, there was nothing in the works for GA. You have every state around GA...why so long for us?
So the C map that’s loaded on the Ti2 units is not the one you need for the shading ? My Ti2 9s came preloaded with C map.
Hi iv got the lowrance hds gen 3 .and i got the navionics + Canada Alaska. That's what l was told to buy. And i just can't get the shading of colors. For fishing and safety navigating. Can you Please help me figure this out. Thanks
Does the higher or lower lake depth from pool effect the contours

I have C-Map Insight Pro Inland + Coastal doesn’t seem to work on My 12Ti . When I set up the 0ft. With the Red color the whole Map is Red I set different colors up to 70 ft. So if could let me know what I need to make this feature work properly I would appreciate it product expert. Thanks

I fish 100 days a year on a 750 acre lake that does not even show on the C map base map on my Ti2. So I am in the process of mapping it. Having to use a C Map card for shading means I have to remove my card that has my map on it. This lake has an extremely diverse bottom and the shading is really necessary. I am the only person who has ever mapped the entire lake so I know the contours are not on the c-map card. So unless I can use Genesis live over the top of the c-map card this unit is useless. My Helix units come with the color shading ability built in and it makes all of the difference in the world on this lake. Please tell me I am wrong.
So why does CMap 0 depth custom shading color become the default color for the entire map when I zoom out beyond 200 feet?
Did you ever get a fix? My new HDS Live 12 is doing this as well!
No. Works just fine close up but when I zoom out to view hazards as I travel to next location it defaults to the 1st color, in my case red😖
Brand new hds live 7. I’m having the same issue. All I see is red. It’s advertised as being able to do this with the built in maps, one of the reasons I bought this.

@@jwschroeder804 I was having the same issue too, and it bugged the heck outta me for a few days. But after some troubleshooting, you can get around the red map issue by creating a 0% opacity later. Here's a quick video I did: ua-cam.com/video/s67UrYSzO2A/v-deo.html
is there a way to adjust mapping for fall lake draw down conditions? lakes are dropped 5-10 feet here in october
No, there is no option to change the depth. We would suggest to use Genesis Live feature.
I just watched 3 or 4 UA-cam videos on how to do it so I knew what I was doing when I got into the menu section.
So far, it allowed me to get into menu, more options, chart options... but it does not have "shading" listed when I scroll down. That is the next step, but it is not showing up on my screen when I try to scroll down. Any suggestions?

You need to have a C-Map chart card in the unit to have that feature active.

So you can't do this on a Hook 2 Reveal?

You would need to use an external C-Map chart card.
@@lowrance unfortunately for me your support team told me Cmap would work if I subscribed. So I subscribed even though when I bought the unit I was assured that it would do depth shading on all maps as is. That turned out to be incorrect as did “if you subscribe to c-map it will work.
Lowrance was a good company. But it appears that is no longer the case.
That wrk with the built in cmap that comes with the ti2 or u hav to buy the cmap card
You will need to buy a C-Map Discover or Reveal chart card.
I have brendnew hds9 live. There is no option to play with depth. I have navionicks cmap. There is only shade button under chart option. How we are going to fix this?
You would need to have a chip card in the unit in order to have certain features active.
I set my custom shading and then when I went to map/chart it turned everything red (the color I set for 0-5) none of the other colors are working. What’s wrong?
Please make sure you enter in each of the lines and change depth and color. Contact us via fb if you still have issues.
@@lowrance I did do this I have different colors for every five feet. I have a brand new HDS live so contour plus should be installed correct?
I have a brand new HDS12 Live and when I zoom out too far I loose all colors except the first (white) color. The maps screen is all white with only contour lines.
After a bit of troubleshooting the same Red map issue, I finally figured out what's going on. Here's the video i created with the solution: ua-cam.com/video/s67UrYSzO2A/v-deo.html You just need to create a 0% opacity layer to sorta fix the glitch. Hope they patch this on the next update.
Lowrance doesn’t answer their phones to clarify which c-map option you need for this. The web site is unclear. There is a range of options. If all I want is the custom shading, which is the right choice?
They did answer for me… they told me that I needed a cmap subscription. So I signed up for a year. But it did not work!
My new HDS Live 12 & 9 will only show one color. Im using the built in CMAPS + the units came with. Only the shallowest depth color will show up, no matter what color pallet I use or custom shading.
Any fix or update via Lowrence or CMAPS? I know of others with this exact problem.
Have you tried changing location of your search? Does it happen everywhere in the map? Please send us a message on Facebook with a screenshot of your Shading settings and the map zoomed in onto a locationn.

I've been on two sections of Lake Oahe about 40 miles apart and the same thing both locations. First days out with them on Lake Sharp color shading only worked if zoomed in far enough about less than 1,000 ft.
@@lowrance will this shading option work with the built in C-MAP installed on our units or do we need to purchase a C-MAP SD card, insert card and then modify the shading? I have a HDS Carbon with latest 20.1 software and built in C-MAP US Enhanced. Even though I have set up shading exactly like in the video, it is showing all bodies of water in red with no color depth changes.
I figured out the issue. Went to Basspro and enabled shading on all their display models and it did not work. All the water turned red. I bought a C-MAP chip and now shading is working. So shading does not work with default C-MAP charts loaded on your graph, you must buy a C-MAP chip.

What versions of C-Map does this work on?
Greg Edwards, my C-Map card is dated 6/20/2017. Works perfectly on my old Elite Ti used on my kayak.
@@dennisederer3594 Dennis, thanks for the reply. I will try it on my Ti2. I can't get the shading to work on my HDS Carbon, everything turns one color. I may have done something wrong setting up my NEMA......

Has anyone found a fix for the new HDS Live to show the shading?
I have paid for 2 different versions of c-map. Neither has worked although before I bought them Lowrance told me it would solve my problem. In each case when it did not solve my problem Lowrance told me whoever on their support line told me that was wrong. But they would not refund.
Why on earth can't you depth shade with a Navionics card?
You want to contact the chart's manufacturer to find out if possible.
Too bad it only works with C-Map :(
It does work with Navionics cartography too, but its Custom Shading feature is limited.
Hard to watch video when so much interference on right screen!
