*"Cymbals are everyone's favorite thing."* YES! Please tell that to the Drum Corps that don't March Cymbals. I like seeing their choreography, plus they make for a more full and dynamic Battery Section.
@@macefowler3309 by that logic you can put the whole band in the pit and project a movie onto the field. don't stretch the convo lol. cymbals are fine I just don't see the point of adding them to the field at a DCI level.
It's so fun to hear EMC a literal professional who is destroying the drum kit with his hands struggle even a little bit to play with his foot. It just gives me hope you know, Eric was human once as evidenced by the fact he couldn't practice kick drum all those years
I don’t know how you come up with some of your ideas, but I love them. They, for the most part, are so different than most other posts about drumming. Thank you for all you do for this channel.
In high school when I got my first kit "which was my schools pep band kit they gave to me when they got a new one". I also took some old quads and added them to the kit because I was a huge Mike Portnoy fan and I figured quads were as close as i could get to his octobans haha.
Our high-school drumline in 1996 did this for our solo performance during a half time show but we had the quad players just bend over a little bit and we had our cymbal players become the cymbal stands . It was pretty inventive then as it is now. Took us weeks of practice to get all the movements and the piece down but when it came friday night performance we executed it flawlessly it was a show stopper that year for sure. Love what ya do EMC !!
we had to do this in my jazz band, because we only had concert band drums. We had to use those concert band drums for a drum set in jazz band. It was the funniest thing ever.
Also, we didn’t have an extra symbol stand so it was suspended from an upside down music stand. We had to weigh it down using ANOTHER MUSIC STAND so that it wouldn’t fall over
About 2 hours ago, I left Loopy Great Grandma's house, heading to Dayton/WGI Finals. Stopped for lunch and saw this posted. I hope the 1 other guy eating inside at McD's appreciated the epic beats! See you tomorrow, Eric 😘🥰
Dude! The idea of having different sized kicks as part of a more elaborate beat is awesome. I have thought of it in my head before but never had the equipment to try it. I really enjoyed seeing it go down.
No way bro, I clicked on this video literally right after watching 3 headed monster, such a cool piece you wrote. Been in love with it ever since I found the video about 3-4 years ago. It goes through my head randomly during school a lot.
Man we gotta get some sorta collar with EMC here and Dankpods/GarbageTime in Aussieland. Two master-degree percussionists who like to build things out of nothing and also play meme music.
I’m in color guard, so I don’t know anything about drumline but watching these videos are fun with my basic knowledge. Maybe I’ll submit some guard videos for homework… lol
Drumset part looks a bit hard to get having to turn hard left BUT that's mostly because of where you had to set up the hihats basically behind you otherwise it looks like you might be able to reach the snare and some of the drumkit without having to turn your entire body left as dramatically. Maybe you can get one of those cable hithat pedals that let you just place the actual hihats on like a cage? But well that might involve buying a cage and an expensive specialized hihats but something for the future iterations.
There's a lot of double pedals nowadays that come with an extra beater holder on the left pedal so you can use them as single pedals. 3 out of 5 double pedals I owned came with that feature. So you don't actually need to own a left-footed double pedal to recreate this setup.
Check out drummer Neil Garthly. He would play a full drum set groove (with marching snare) with his feet and then play melodies on his toms. This abstract set up reminded me of him.
This reminds of something that Stephen Perkins from "Jane's Addiction" or since some time ago "Porno for Pyros" would probably would setup for different sounds.
I was hoping to see more of an actual drumset layout made out of marching drums. That is a snare where the snare would be, tenors in the same order normal toms are, maybe a double bass or perhaps quadruple bass just how you have it, and genuine marching cymbals as all of the cymbals (hats, crashes, and ride) (or at least cymbals of the same size)
Hey! Could you maybe do some musescore tutorials? I've tried watching others but I think learning from someone who writes specifically for drums would help.

Cymbals are in the pit, they'll be fine
@@drop0ut606 clearly you’ve never seen cymbal choreos
@@Glassless I think Cymbals are more of a show band thing personally,

Important detail: WAS human. He has since transcended.
As he says, he doesn’t play drums. He plays DRUMS.
He just pulled the lick on us guys. Unannounced. Viciously. Well done emc.
I thought I missed it, then I finished the video
It was 1/4 of a Rick Rolling???
FYI most double pedals can change left vs right hand with a drum key and Allen wrench
Was about to say this, but yeah - you are correct!
*This deserves to be entered in Guitar Center’s annual contest. I think Eric has it in the bag*
Evidence that even without photoshop, he is the entire drumline 🔥🔥🔥

Some hot riffs there. I've always thought to leave it to Eric to be a one man drumline
That’s what you need to do for America’s got talent, just wow 🤩 🥁
Neil Peart would be proud of you.
Well done, sir.
also SugarFoot Moffet would be so proud.
Terry Bozzio would also be proud
Not enough rototoms for Neil.

Imagine a band that utilizes this variety of drum sound. That would be insane
The new standard for all drum sets
we had to do this in my jazz band, because we only had concert band drums. We had to use those concert band drums for a drum set in jazz band. It was the funniest thing ever.
I used my marching snare at some of the gigs our band director attended. You can get some mean rock sounds using the rim.
"So, they used concert drums for their Jazz band. Funniest shit I've ever seen."
@@squillz8310 yep, we used the rim of a concert snare instead of the rim of an actual drum set drum. (idk the names of all the drums srry.

Ok, you won !
My kit has five snares but, four Bass drums are out and above anything I could think of. Well done !
How do you use 5 snares?
I have been wanting something like this forever. I love the sound of marching drums, and always wondered how it would sound as a drumset. Its amazing
Came for the drums, stayed for the beard
What a good sounding improv bit. Now I want to try more and do better as well.

You're FINALLY doing it! I've been asking for a few months!! THANK YOU
i love watching your videos man they saved me in band since this is my FIRST! year thank you so much and keep up the great work
The lick at the end 😂 this video was so good
Love your creativity ❤
I SWEAR I HAD AN IDEA LIKE THIS AND I WAS LOOKING FOR A VIDEO LIKE THIS AND YOU ACTUALLY MADE IT THANKK YOOUUUUUU
First video ever such a deserved sub!!
Imagine the things you could do with a whole bunch of really good drum mics.
Hooray! I've been wanting to see you replay this for a while.

You did bring your love for marching bands in making a kit. 😂😂😂
I don't know if it's too much cymbal, or not enough, but it's definitely one of them. OH I KNOW, it's a gong, need a the big gong behind the drumset!

You should do some covers on the kit, might be pretty cool and they are good to learn skills

Omg man that was great can’t wait for more keep it up
I really like your TPB poster.
Frig yeah buddy
Video 39 of commenting until EMC makes a front ensemble out of spocks
Look at you.... it's like a Neil Peart starter kit! :D
with Sugarfoot quadruple bass drums in it.
Okay now you gotta make a marching drum set
The solution for small programs with an insufficient amount of drummers- the new
EMC all-in-one multi drum set up. 🤣

This set up is 🔥🔥🔥💪
If. You can figure out a way to motorize a riser... What a summer you'll have out and about!
what a good way to start my morning
they make pedals that extend out quite a bit and use a wire pull method rather than the bulky double kicks.
Now we know if your HS band only has 1 percussionist but all this kit, all is not lost. Just need a BIG trailer
I have a feeling this guy would make of (or is) a good jazz drummer
I've always wondered--what is the music in the cowbell painting?
This reminds of something that Stephen Perkins from "Jane's Addiction" or since some time ago "Porno for Pyros" would probably would setup for different sounds.
Have you thought about putting a snare in the middle of the quads and setting up a sort of Mike Mangini-esque kit with marching toms lol
What kind of dampeners are those on your light blue kit?
Wowzers
I always wished I had enough cash to this one day cause it seemed epic and you proved that it was EPIC
Man i really want that bell part for the intro
I've got a normal double-bass pedal and a 2nd one rigged up to work left-footed.
This looks like something Nick in Freaks And Geeks would love to play on =D
You should add a gong/tam for more concert percussion
Can you play white boy smooth on this set? Minus the visuals on snare and rim clicks on tenors of course
I’ve been waiting for someone to turn tenors/quads into concert toms
What Comes Around Is All Around.
Makes want a big drum rack and make this monster. u made in to a ever day set . I say I could make some sick death metal with it
HIT THAT DRUMS BOI!

Just gotta jump in here to call attention to the trailer park Boys poster. You have impeccable taste sir.

This is what I think of whenever I'm searching for a new bass drum and all that shows up are marching bass drums.
Now everyone go watch Terry Bozzio explain his eleventy pedals
