As a bootcamp grad and someone who now has a few years exp. as a software dev. I endorse this msg.
Initially I just spam applied to any and every job. I got one or two interviews and they went horribly. Conventional comm. sci. grads tend to have an arrogant attitude toward bootcamp grads and will look down at you, in an interview setting they will pepper you with academic questions (ie, explain Polymorphism lol) which they know will be your weakness.
You definitely need an "inside man" to land your first role. For me, it was someone knew someone who knew someone who could put my resume in front of a group of hiring managers at a large co. One of those managers took a chance on me. Since then I've become a lead dev and am now weighing up opportunities for my next role.

Thank you, that was very helpful. I’m really thinking about switching from security to cyber security. I’m 34 and am a little worried about being the old guy , a lot tech professionals that I have seen are in there mid twenties and miles ahead of me. Is there such thing as told old for tech or am I just tripping about nothing?

Great video, bro. I'm just wondering what you did before bootcamp. I'm taking the self taught path and your story resonates to mine. Would be great if you could share tips or structure on what you did pre-bootcamp. Your vids are top-notch. Hoping to watching more content from you. 💯

I highly recommend not landing a software engineering job in tech. Many say that you should only go into this field if you enjoy it. I would argue the contrary. Only get a software engineering job if you're doing it for the money. Otherwise, keep it as your hobby and side passion, and figure out a way to make it work for you in combination with other interests.

This is a super interesting opinion and I felt the same way about music. On the other hand, if you enjoy something you're doing naturally you'll want to improve and in that improvement, you develop your worth but I what do I know lol!
