Consulting firms love to use takeaway boxes. That small rectangular box of text at the bottom of a slide sometimes also called a kicker. You see them all the time from nearly every major consulting firm. But what are they for? And when should you use them? Or maybe more importantly, when should you not use them? And what’s the difference between a title, subtitle, and a takeaway box?
In this video Paul answers these questions, and explains how to avoid the most common takeaway box mistakes, so that you can use them to improve the quality and professionalism of your own presentations.

Paul thank you , good explanation
Extremely helpful. Thank you.
1:30 there are generally two situation to use takeaway boxes:
1. call out sth that isn't immediately obvious
2. something to help transition into a future slide.
2:25 control the narrative.
3:50 the takeaway box is green and resemble to the positive outcomes here.
4:35 if we speak to client, we might say, "so as you can see, the live outcomes have actually been increasing over the last five years,"
5:15 the takeaway box should be as a second order inference.
5:50 you don't see that a lot, but BCG likes to use them a lot.
6:30 the general rule is use them less than 20% time.
Wonderful channel. Thank you analyst academy
This was great! Thank you so much!
And great closing music
Glad you enjoyed it!
In the government offices I've worked in we call them Bumper Stickers
It feels like "Highlight Box" may be a better name if it's not supposed to be the main Takeaway.
Boa noite tudo bem o meu grande deus Jesus todo poderoso te abençoe em ver mais amém gratidão
You are amazing
no you are
I still find that the takeaway box is a less elegant solution. If there's a way to get it into the main message I prefer it.
TKe away box is a waste of time just put in headline
You lost me with the highly emotive content example regarding dogs. Enjoy the learning but felt confronted with an example I was not expecting. Had I have known I would not have watched. So my message is, consider your audience and what content used for learners. I might be highly sensitive, but it is a point worth considering. Respectfully thank you.
