The Barbarian for me so far has been a fun experience. War cry is, per usual, a great build, but I'm currently working out Frenzy and am loving it. By day 6 I reached 90, missing day 1. Here's my character so far:
Frenzy - 20 pts
General Mastery - 20 pts
Battle Orders - 20 pts
Battle Cry - 20 pts
Natural Resistance - 5 pts (will likely respec when I obtain more skills / res)
Double Swing - Rest for Synergy
(If you want a magic find focused char, you can invest a few points into Find Item - Great for elites / champs)
Stats: Focused a bit of strength, less dex, rest into vitality. It covers most of the weapons, apart from a few dex heavy weapons (like phase blades).
Normal:
I level up Frenzy and about 5+ points into General Mastery for extra AR, damage and mostly crit strike. More 1 handers (or 2 handed swords) are accessible and usable purely because General Mastery covers maces, axes AND swords, so you're not hindered if you commit to one branch of weapons. You can go the usual route of malice / steel / triple tal mace, or depending on your drops, a nice rare / unique. Having a mercenary really helps. I started with act 2, but shifted to act 5 for the might aura. They feel a little less tanky than act 2, but if you got the health / gear they make up for it in power. Splash is incredible, so just cleave through giant groups of clustered monsters! By the end of normal, branch yourself to the end of the warcry talents, because you'll be investing into them (mainly battle orders and battle cry).
Nightmare:
Finish Frenzy, Max Battle Orders, while getting a point into Battle Command and Battle Cry. Having them applied will reduce enemy physical resistance and though it is initially small, it adds up, especially with you and the mercenary dealing physical damage (for the most part). If you're feeling vulnerable against monster packs, let your mercenary go in first (manipulate this with a tele staff if you got it), then follow shortly after. A little cold damage from charms or your weapon and cannot be frozen / half freeze gear is super helpful. DO NOT TAKE THOSE FOR GRANTED. For weapons, consider getting "Strength" for crushing blow, unless you get that affix elsewhere (goblin toes, crushflange, etc). Gear up your mercenary; they are super helpful, especially with a near-full loadout. Yes, set bonuses do apply!
Hell:
Entering Hell will arguably be the toughest arc for this character. Finish up Battle Cry and General Mastery. Get a few points into Natural Resistance if you need it. Battle Cry will be your best friend against physical immune targets since it pierces most of their immunities. Consider levelling up in either nightmare or hell act 1 if you need to (the pit being a great spot - might find some nice gear while you're there!). Focus your charms on resistance, attack rating, life and a max damage / ele damage. For skill charms I'd say focus Warcries to boost BO and battle cry. I found combat charms to be vastly underwhelming compared to a nice max damage + AR grand charm. For weapons, more of the same from nightmare, but seek higher damage. If you need a reliable base, insight / obedience is a cheap act 2 weapon and is solid if you can get an ethereal base. You can always use the cube recipe (P amethyst + amn + ral) rather than a larzuk quest if you're feeling lucky. You can also consider armors like Treachery or Duress if you got the lem / um rune to do it.
This is just my first run through of frenzy on PD2, but it's working well so far and I plan to experiment further. For now, hopefully this helps someone out!

Happy to hear some cool strategy about barb, which was always my main character :) Been playing a bit recently on Plugy. Is PD2 vastly different than Plugy? Do you have that feeling of "something new" or is it rather just a small refresh of an old game? Any new quests or runewords?
@@MatiKosa Well, Plugy is the D2 we know, just with an infinite stash and reworkable stats / skills at any time. PD2 took skill trees, items, runewords and either readjusted them or gave them something new to shake up the same old builds & meta we've known for almost 20 years. There's a lot of quality of life improvements, some added end game content with item corruptions and maps with high level monsters, as well as a very operational online server with a team working to make it as clean as possible. If that ain't enough, you can install Plugy to use PD2 in single player (just not online). To someone who has played the game on and off since 2001, I've been loving the discovery of what's new or what builds could be possible in this setup. Lastly, this modded version is still very challenging in many areas, which I'm glad they kept it so. Go try Blood Raven out if you want proof of that.
There's honestly a LOT they did to make this mod what it is; so much I would recommend checking the website and look at the Wiki link they provide. They show most of what has been added, removed and changed. They also have guides on how to install and set up most of what's offered.
@@CosmicTerminal Thanks for a detailed answer! Yeah, I think the feeling of discovering something new should be enough of the thrill. For me, a big thing would be also the new music. Let's see if my Frenzy barb can still do the job. At least now I know more, like for example: Lawbringer is the key. Without this runeword, there is no way you can fight Hell difficulty. I love the General Mastery change, maybe from now it will be possible to mix in different weapons.
Haven't started game yet (I will be playing single player), but from what I have gathered so far, Corruption seems like the biggest change. It allows you to tune your items or even make already good uniques "gg items", but at a cost of bricking them... Sounds like some fun gamble!
PlugY is a must imo. Holy grail and varied strats are impossible without unlimited stash and having only 3 respecs is not enough. Imagine you want to use Phase Blades, 136 dex req. You have invested a lot of points. Now you have found Arreat's Face, +20 to dex. You could (and should) retract those 20 points and make a better use of them, instead of grinding four essences for days. What if you will change your mind again... With plugy it's easier.
@@CosmicTerminal Also, love the increased amount of lvl 85 areas, so no need to keep grinding Pit or AT only, now there are other areas available, like Tombs or very interesting Swamps in act 3. I'm wondering if chances for high runes have been affected. In case you don't know, I wrote a comprehensive guide to high rune farming part 2, on Diablo2 reddit :)

Been playing self-found Double Throw for a bit and it completelly destroys Normal, but then slows a bit in NM. Main reason is lack of exceptional weapon bases, so i still use magic Throwing Spears shopped from normal Anya with some 60% ED. Malice - Steel weapon set to swap for bosses is usefull as always. But before hell, i guess some NM Mephisto or Eldritch farming would be necessary to get those rare javelins.
i have a 62 hardcore barb and the plan is to do conc build. atm i have Max BO,Max general mastery, few points into bash and maxing Conc. if i wasn't on HC id probably go Battle command first. my weapon is Strength until i make a black rune word. on my switch i have malice and Steel still for frenzy speed boost.
Has this been updated a bit ? Is barb frenzy barb kinda useless ?
Level 89 HC frenzy barb here.
Actually, I feel melee is a pretty decent build for a party. The warcry barb is a very powerful dps/support, but it needs a ton of skillpoints to deal meaningful damage and is impossible to level with warcry solo imo.
Double throw is pretty nice from what I've heard, but it's ranged, so the other melee barb skills are more suitable for tanking in my opinion and the barb so far is a pretty solid tank.
Haven't tried leap throw, I experimented a bit on single player with the high level characters with ww, concentrate and berserk. WW doesn't feel good at all at high velocity, I don't get enough hits on mobs, but I haven't tried it with decent gear. Berserk and concentrate seemed ok, but Frenzy + Double swing seemed to me to be the better damage + sustain balance when you have good life steal due to the speed.
My skills build is currently:
20lvl frenzy
20lvl battle cry
20lvl general mastery
20lvl battle orders
1 battle command
1 leap
1 double swing
1 combat reflexes
1 natural resistances
1 increased speed
rest of the points in iron skin (it gives +1pdr% every 2 points)
The playstyle is hit a few times with frenzy every now and then to maintain att.speed/mov.speed boost, battle cry mobs and double swing mainly for killing.
I play with a bowazon in a party and the battle cry is a huge boost, I can tank mobs and deal decent damage, but the zon is the main dps.
That's my experience so far.
I just lvled a barb hc. Atm 73 lvl got some gear for him..low for now. Tomorrow id you have a mom I would love to talk to you for info etc of you dont mind. First time I try d2 mods. Acc is cradical. Lmk
Is Leap Attack Barb viable?
Leap Attack is super fun to use but doesn't benefit from increased attack speed at all and thusly harder to scale up in damage. Hope they change that in the future.
what version are you running I am on 1.14 and my format is no where close to that "look"... my inventory is smaller (original format) how can I get your format, "if possible"?

Playing a warcry barb currently level 92. I have pretty much min/max gear. level 54 warcry is doing 10k-10k damage. Super high movement speed with act 1 vigor merc. Enigma for tele. 3600 life buffed. Can solo t3 maps pretty easily and quickly. I buff/support a druid friend and we can pretty much run Uber Trist without taking any damage. Haven't tried Dclone yet.

Where can i find a guide to install path of diablo? Ive got the normal LOD installed that i bought, dont know where to go from there.

Path of diablo is a different MOD. MrLlama provided a link for a Project Diablo 2, which discussed in this video. What do you need exactly?
And for PD2 - Download, run, select your general D2 install, click install, done. It does not override files, just create a subfolder in root folder. Run PD2 launcher and play.
I've got a full IK WW barb and I can run any content atm with near 0 issue. Of course I've got some leech, which is a necessary thing now.

Eth upped gavel of pain 6 os ohm 544%ed on my 102DS ww barb lol my only limit is how fast my char can run, with +37move speed. Basically a lawnmower
WW with a lot of attacker takes damage will absolutely melt monsters. Especially after you get your merc providing Amp Dmg.
Might merc providing amp damage? like an upped gavel or thunder maul?

There are quite a few ways.
I really like a bow merc with Wrath runeword and plenty of piercing attack. 30% chance, and would often be more like 75% by the time it pierced a couple times
I wonder how you accomplished to do all this. Server were down 50 percent of the time. My barbs still Level 36 😔
do you mean the lvl 99 chars? They are single player and imported from a file.

I kinda hate the fact that items still drops with nonexistent skills - axe mastery, sword mastery, etc, which does nothing to me (it does not affect damage). Barbarian helms become useless.
i play necro and it seems every necro item has summon resist on it! ugh

What exactly is the point of 'supporting'' your team with Grim Ward's attack rating and damage buff if melee and physical damage is mostly unviable trash? Not like it will provide any utility to casters...
because our amazon overlords benefit from it. also if you are doing Sing Barb for dmg while supporting. Also maybe some Assassin builds, but I don't know much about Sin in PD2. So yeah, to answer, it helps zons which will likely still be meta dmg dealers in maps and later dungeon content

Double throw is bugged in NM and Hell. The ricochet tickles enemies.
Something is wrong with scaling for sure, the bounces do very low dmg. Probably just base of the item without any extra from skill, or something else... It is still better than before since it can slow and "stun" monsters, but not as crazy as it could be.

The launcher has features that are yet to be implemented, however when servers are back up there are some euro servers

@@georgestanila1817 1) Make sure you run as administrator. I was also stuck in launcher with "loading..." and nothing else. 2) Can you play single-player? That is awailible always even with server down.
