frost orb has been serving me pretty well, me and a grp of 2 have been pushing T2 maps and my damage is pretty decent all things considered, been enjoying it thus far.
Always enjoy your input. Thanks for all the videos. I started PD2 with a blizzard sorc and I have to say that it feels pretty good honestly. The change that makes it way better is the hits it does now. It hits waaaay more times then before. The damage is weaker yes, especially with less synergies, but glacial spike does good damage and you don't have to feel bad freezing a target with it since blizzard hits a lot more of the area and more times. The only problem I'm having is, what do I put my remanding points into. That's the only thing I can't figure out yet. I do love the change to thunderstorm but it seems to need lots of synergies and gear to make it good. i'm thinking ice/fire maybe the way to go instead as its a lot less of points you have to burn to get to a skill you want. So basically maybe blizzard/g spike/fireball or combustion or frozen orb instead of blizzard. anyways, hope I could give some perspective
Okay here are my experience/guide with a solo selffound sorc so far:
I went fully Hydra sorc and it's amazing.
1. Just go for firebolt until you can spec into lesser hydra. The beginning will be a bit sluggish. But once you get your first point into lesser hydra it's amazing.
2. If you like it take teleport. But your strategy will be focused on lesser hydra all the way.
3. Get a melee Merc. I took act 2 defense.
4. Equipment is not important since you'll run away while your hydras kill everything. Faster run speed and fhr is useful. Fcr is not important.
5. Every + to fire skills is nice. So Helmet can be Ort+sol. Leaf +2 staff is godlike at the beginning. Stealth armor will go until nightmare act 5. Later you can switch to some swirling Cristal +2 skills and some +1 shield.
+3 Fire skill amulet is gg
6. I was able to go players 3 until nightmare act4 without delay. Lesser Hydra deals more damage to single targets then Hydra so do as you like.
7. Insight Runeword on your Act2 Merc will do wonders for you mana regen. Put it in a exc Polearm or Spear and you'll be good.
8. You can farm Nightmare Bosses incl. Baal until aprox Level 80. (Merc has to kill fire immune Baal waves)
9. If you got a good Merc equipment your Merc can now push you to Act 3 Council. But i suggest to switch the build at the very latest then.
10. I switched to Frozenorb Hydra build. 20 Orb 12 Ice Mastery. Hydra and Firemastery 20 rest in lesser Hydra I'm not sure if it's good math. Maybe there is some better way. I was lucky and got enough runes for a HotO.
11. Nice thing about Hydra orb is that Hydra deals damage while you can cast orbs. So maximum damage output.
12. I'm now with level 82 heading for the ancients. I think there maybe a better way but with this build nightmare is a piece of cake. Hell was tricky first but it's no problem.

Update: The stony Tomb in the Rocky wastes ActII is a perfect place on Hell to farm. No Fire Immune Level 85 Area. Also, Cows on Hell but you need to kill Baal for this.
I would like to spec into your build as I get to HELL at lvl59 and it's a pure hell with all those immunities. I'll test this in HERO editor to check if it's viable before doing it on a live server. Thanks
@@underheavenunderheaven8446 i recommend you stay at nightmare till level 75 minimum. You can do cows or Baal runs for xp. Your Merc needs a very good gear to beat hell if you are fire only. So just stay longer at nightmare. You can get almost all gg drops for the sorc from Meph and Baal. So put on your angelic set and farm a bit
@@SirSilicon thanks for the tips! I got power leveled to 75 via cows runs and I plan to keep farming Meph. I currently use Enlightenment/Spirit/Lore and some +1 amulet and +1 wand and rest is pure garbage, I need to upgrade my merc as chaos sanc. is no go atm. and will see about specing into fire/cold variant. HERO editor works fine with project d2 and i plan to try full split between fire/cold and share the results. I want to try it with 27, 32, 35 skill points in cold/fire mastery and hydra/frozen orb skill.
@@underheavenunderheaven8446 i m now planing to go back to fire only to be faster on maps. You will loose a lot of damage by going cold mastery. So maybe just do it to beat the game and then switch back.
i always went for enchantress... can't wait to try cold/fire enchantress with demon machine / buriza
They nerfed light sorc to the ground its rly weak now... synergies got cut from 8% x 3 to 6% x 2
i'm fine with teleport nerf but damn the no tele areas is a slap in the face for sorcs just entering hell trying to stay alive or keep a merc alive.
I guess maybe we could be expecting tele to give a temporary damage redu buff now if the problem persist.
You can also not teleport in Duriels chamber. Quite annoying IMO.
Also, you do not only need a wall for combustion, it works just as well in tightly packed groups of mobs.
The most annoying thing I think for Sorceress is that NM Diablo sanctuary is filled with Fire Immune Doom guards, basically necessitating group play. Not to mention all of the other elemental immunes and the massive nerf to damage in general. Physical damage characters have it made in PD2 until late game. Although I did not know meteor was physical damage until now. That could be an interesting assist.
if u arent speed running you will always max out your synergies.
So why not show the skills maxed out instead of just putting 3 into a lvl 12 skill, thinking you can show of its damage in hell ? besides that nice video.
With combustion being the most effective when getting stuff up against a wall or corner, doesn't it then have the same issue as frost nova? In that it's essentially close quarters and you're gonna get hit? Or is the open aoe still effective enough?

I'm having fun with Frozen Orb + Hydra. Toss my orb out and it slows and then toss up some hydras for fire damage , it's nice single/splash damage.
I am playing Enchantress! Lvl 86 right now and it feels REALLY GOOD! The advantage you have over other(not all) melee chars is teleporting to reposition your enchanted Merc. You can telestomp pretty efficiently.
Right now my merc hits for 3k and I hit for 4k. Fire immunes are no problem either. I have decent gear but still alot of space to grow. Definitly super fun!
you're using cold and fire enchant, fire mastery and warmth, and... cold mastery?
@@AeAeRon actually just 1 point in cold mastery, putting hard points in chilling armor for synergy seems to give more dmg and I will be trying to run a lot of +skills so my cold mastery will also be high. When I get dual dream(maybe) then I would put 20 in light mastery and the rest in cold enchant
@@ellig1991 i did some talent tree testing and it looks like thunder storm would be better with the light mastery if you can't get the chilling armor synergy... thoughts?
@@AeAeRon unfortunately I can’t tel you because I don’t have acces to dual dream yet, but I am pretty sure thunderstorm will not be the right option. If anything you would focus on 2 elements fire/light and take es with Telekinesis or fire/cold. Depending on how much dmg dual dream gives you could argue that you could save some point in fire mastery to go fire/cold/light.
One important thing is that your merc dmg will be lowest in any build other than fire/cold.

Currently playing summon druid... max ravens, dire wolfs, bear, heart of the wolverine... 1 point into tele... 1 point into carron vine..... rest into spirit wolf... really strong... can clear anything ez....only have +7 at the moment
But boring as fuuuuuuuuck. And aoe dmg/clear speed is very limited.
I’m a huge fan of frozen orb and was excited for the lower cd on it seems much weaker than before
i am rocking blizzard right now as a pure pindle runner with massive MF and a strong merc. works really well for me
Having lots of fun with firewall and Inferno, so much damage
i just want to know if fast cast rate can improve my damage even more on firewall and inferno

But inferno synergies op, and can fry almost off screen. Play style some getting used to. Need to make sure you target away from any enemy, prepare for the pause and then can spin around flame throwing everything around you. Find a 2 socket 3 inferno staff "Leaf" it and get up to 7-8 inferno at level 19. If you lucky can get same amount on same staff with Warmth and no need to use a mana pot
have been runnning combustion, its wicked strong. with a geared merc, i can kill all the bosses, i was doing chaos for the essence but its just slow, only baals minions i need to skip. really doesnt matter with the changes to mercs

Dude why are people abscessed with nerfing teleport, its fun to have a fast class. Awful
I like the idea, changes up the pvp aspect. We do have to remember this isn’t vanilla. The oldschool pvp was just people teleporting all over the place. The meta is a lot different than it used to be.
@@Titantitan001 old pvp was amazing tho. TBH the problem was that the only armor you can use was Enigma. Except if you were sorc.

@@Titantitan001 True but DF and Charge were really shit substitutes for teleport. I had a PvP kicksin with 125 fcr and Enigma which really held her own against far more expensive sorcs, necros and especially druids(melee classes not so much usually). But enigma was the reason for that character's success. Otherwise it'd never have had the mobility to catch them.
@@MrFunguspower ft5 tourneys with duress and DF. I never lost. That was all meta gear though so it was all jsp fighters not just pubs. Enigma isn’t a bad substitute but I in jsp tourneys you were better off with DF cause auto target

The last thing D2 needed was more nerfs. All nerfing does is make less fun and impossible goals. Better to beat my head against the wall, at least there will be some progression and something will break. The wall or my skull.
100% agree. I feel like all they did with this mod was nerf almost every build and say" SeE, iSn'T iT a nEW hArd ExPerIeNCe?" Maybe they will change things next season, but PoD is way more fun so far.
I've been playing light sorc since I rerolled, it's been doing just fine so far damage isn't amazing or anything. I want to roll passion dual enchant zealer but obvs need the gear for it first.
MrLlamaSC you forgot Fire Wall, it's also pretty good, specially at static fights. So spammable and high damage.

i went full energy in hope of doing energyshield firewall sorc but it sucked since most hit is a stun if you go no vit maybe it not the best first characther and should had went something else
im trying to level up an inferno/firewall sorc it does isnane dmg when setup properly but it a real struggle to level since you have like no way to keep people in place except maybe frost blast level 1

hm .. i think frost is kinda fine ur showing like frozen orb without synergys and without frost mastry with +0 skills and 0 fcr ? ofc it does no damage like that.
Cold sorc is generally bad. I am blizz sorc, level 85 with not so great gear. My merc deals more dmg than me... I will wait a bit more and eventually respec to orb. If its still bad and senpay just ignores this fact, i will play the next ladder with diff char :D
So with skill points left over from hydra, fire mastery and combustion. What to use ? Blizzard or nova/thunder storm

I don't know why all the buzz around the Sorceress among Diablo 2 players, like, it's gotta be the most equipment dependent character in the game, perhaps in history... no matter how I try to build her, she just cannot handle players 8, not even 5 tbh....
And look, I recently installed plugY just because of her, and it is STILL not freeging working, man, like what...
I made a Javazon like two weeks ago and she is already in Nightmare.
In players 8.
Overkilling w easy.
All I needed from plugY was the ability of using an Insight polearm, which means that with time she would become OP anyways....
But I feel like for the Sorc it's never even an option....
Fire Hydra is POG as fuck. I returned to D2 after 15y and finished normal in couple of hours and I'm almost done with NM with a garbage gear.

In my opinion they killed the diversity of specs sorc used to have, you are forced to play either frozen orb or hydra or combustion, the rest is total garbage damage, ice barrage is a joke and why taking meteorb build away ? it was a such a fun and effective build

dunno about other classes but sorc has way less build diversity than in original d2. Wasnt this mode supposed to promote diversity? Many spells has mechanical potential,just numbers feels poorly balanced across the board.

Teleport disabled zones are really stupid. They created this problem themselves by nerfing enigma. Also, only takes like an hour to roll a sorc just for farming keys... Nobody's forcing anyone to do all content on a single build.
Sorc doesn't look too great to me right now.
The old sorc is what made her special... fast... high damage... but fragile... they killed the sorc

PD2 is currently best Diablo 2 experience imo. Maybe I'm just tired of PoD, but PD2 is just a whole lot of fun while staying close to vanilla.
PD2 is basically the same as PoD with some different end game content. All they did was nerf most skills, increase mob and boss difficulty, and pretend like its some grand new experience. Its just the new kid on the block so everyone is creaming themselves over it

I've been playing alot of frozen orb, with deaths fanthom, frostburn and generally decent gear. If you cant explode your orb inside the character model, it does low/mediocre damage. But if you manage to sweetspot it into a generally big unit model, it really pops off. Positioning and a great merc that can tank for you is key.
