    This is it! This is the recipe I was looking for. Only thing I did differently was I added one cup of water and let it simmer until water evaporated. Made the meat super tender. This will be my go to recipe from now on. Thank you!

    I've never had it without ketchup and thought I'd give it a try. It is good but I think I'm missing the ketchup taste. Just have to get used to it without it. I don't like bell peppers so I didn't add those in. I also added some water while it was simmering.

  • @Phicksusmc
    @Phicksusmc 3 роки тому

    A can of sliced mushrooms added is great. This method doesn’t get much browning on the veggies though.
    Also where’s your sour? No vinegar? Just some Frank’s red hot or ketchup and mustard added will round it out. Needs that tangy flavor.

    Now would you like to take this great recipe to the next level? Make the filling the. day before you want to serve it. Store in the fridge overnight and let those flavors mature. When the party starts slowly heat up the filling and get ready for a tremendous WOW. Think this is great on a bun use it for super nachos or a bolognese that would make an Italian cry with joy.

    The ground meat doesn't have to be "lean". It is better for you to have some fat in it. Saturated fat makes your hormones work properly. It also satiates a person so they feel more full.

    I’m sure it’s a good recipe but American classic sloppy joe does not have all the Cajun additions you spoke of and added. Where’s the old filme recipe.

    • @Thestayathomechef
      @Thestayathomechef  3 роки тому

      The original comes from a cook at a diner named Joe in Souix City, Iowa. Joe's "loose meat" sandwich would just be ground beef sauteed with onions and topped with ketchup and mustard and sometimes pickles and cheese if the customer ordered it that way. Enjoy!
