You can put it in front of the cat. I just put the 4" Granatelli cut out on my 07 2500 Ram with the 5.9. Just cut out about 10" of pipe between the cat and muffler and use a band clamp back there and cut a small a short 3 o 4" piece from that existing piece you just removed to slip into the expanded/female front end of the Cat pipe so you can now install the cut out right there in front of the cat and the down pipe coming from the Turbo. I might post a short video soon on my channel. Good to see people who appreciate our loud Diesels.:) :)
I am seeing the same deal. No videos on a Duramax. I am planning on doing one on mine. I have an LB7 with the 5 speed, and a 5" exhaust. It has a nasty drone at 70-78, and with the long trips between Michigan and Montana, it's a brain killer. Plus, sometimes, I love the sound of a resonator/performance muffler on a duramax. Might go for it now!!
So far it is still working great for me. I love being able to switch between fun and quiet. My only complaint is you can hear the valve chattering when its closed because of slop in the mechanism, but its not terrible.
@@LivingOnWheels I might pay more or build my own to be a double valve. Good note on rattle. My truck is sitting at about 550 horsepower, but I intend to expand on that. There is a LOT of pressure and flow out of the exhaust, so I don't want the thing rattling too bad or at worst, getting spit out the rear 🤣
Joe …if your looking for the sound that WE ALL desire from our diesel trucks I would delete the cat and go straight pipe all the way back. Does sound good as is…it is definitely quieter than our 7.3 ‘s, would come in handy on long trips though…take care and God bless…David.
I first removed the muffler on the stock 4” system and it definitely improved sound “quality” and throttle response. I then installed a 5” catback straight pipe. Helped even more. I have yet to remove the cat. Are there any drawbacks performance wise/loss of back pressure from removing the cat? I’m good with emissions where I live.
@@LivingOnWheels I would delete the cat only if it isn't the sound you are looking for with the valve open. The trade off is it will always be louder even through the muffler. Either way, love the videos.
I noticed as well, loved all his 7.3 videos but this truck just doesn’t interest me… Nothing at all personal to him as he’s an awesome guy and I enjoyed his videos a lot!

Loving the 5.9 content
keep it coming
Turba tom did a hoodstack and full exhaust with valves.
Subscribed! Good selection on the truck man. I own the same truck but a megacab with single rear wheel. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this build!
Good to have yah! I’m am definitely looking forward to seeing this build progress

Did you ever take out the cat? And how is it holding up
Awesome Joe!!!Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for working with the channel 👍🏻
Awsome idea!
sounds good Joe..
Next it’s time to get rid of the cat & muffler to hear the true engine pur!
Welds are TIG.
Haha I was just googling exhaust cutouts last night. I miss the sound of my straight piped 7.3. But not always. Haha
Haha love it when you love it but man it gets loud in a long trip

That why I keep my 2000 7.3 cuz No Cat or other emissions crap to choke the motor! But the Cummins is a great motor so Yes, delete the Cat!
5 inch straight pipe...especially for mods down the road you’ll want that...no cat
I heard 7 counties in your state voted to secede from Oregon hopefully your one of those counties
Unfortunately I am not but either way there’s basically zero chance of it actually happening.
@@LivingOnWheels yeah it's got to be approved by Congress and senate and governor and all types of shiz but still it's cool
Watching from fellow communist country commiefornia great video
Sounds good take the cat off
If you don't have emissions remove the cat.
Thankfully I don’t have to worry about that.
Fun for boy's!!! But not really useful 😉
Sometimes its good to just have fun haha
This should be a 10 minute video tops. Content is too long. Everyone just fast forwards.
Just tune it already lmao
I’m not sure if I trust the stock trans that much haha
Anyone told you that you talk to much?
Anyone told you that you can skip forward with one push of a button?
I'm just hear to say you lost 3/4 of your viewers since you bought this truck 😬
Lost some and gaining others. It's how it goes.
