There are like 300 other videos with the exact same topic but nobody got +10min to watch the tutorial for something this simple. I'm glad I got to your video first, thanks!
This one is perfect! Watched several others, this is the best by far. The little Dollar Tree strainer (usually used for drains!) makes it easy to do without scalding yourself.
Thank You! Today by following your instructions I successfully made a delicious cup/pot of coffee without a Keurig machine. I had some k-cups sitting my cupboard and used them. Until watching your video I had never deconstructed a k-cup or knew what was inside of them. Love the music in this video. Many blessings!
This is so creative, I have a keureg but I think I would still use this method because sometimes the coffee doesn't come out strong enough, with this method I could run it through the filter twice to make the coffee stronger! TFS!!
This is really a neat way thank you, I have a cheapie single cup coffee maker from Family Dollar that I got for 10 bucks. So I just peel the top off and pour in, but this will keep me from using a paper filter. Very neat idea for those that don't have single makers. Hugs and Blessings
You ROCK Clara! i gave my Keurig to my son and his gf for their first apartment. I'm going to do this for myself IF i can find the K-cups at my local DT!
Thank you so much! The water pitcher part of my Keurig got cracked when I moved. As I wait for my replacement pitcher, this is a life saver! Chai Latte tonight thanks to you.
I tried this method that she/he used (not sure what gender) not the same brand though, like a name brand kcup, and the coffee tasted ok.. Except the coffee was way too dark and bitter so now I dislike that flavor of coffee.. Agree tho 100%
This is amazing you go girl!!! I have yet to see those K cups at mine however I haven't been looking too hard, never did get my Keurig for Christmas lol. But now I'll look for them!
@dropdeadalina That's exactly what I was thinking, too. Just goes to show - uhmmm, my mind just went blank. LOL (I haven't slept for a few days) As she said, though...it kept her from getting her fingers burned, & that's always a good thing in my book :) . Anyhow, I was wondering - why not use a tea leaf strainer? (Oh! Now I remember what I was gonna say! {It ain't earth shattering or anything like that, but don't it just bug you when it happens? lol} Just goes to that there can be so many different uses for one thing. And, indeed, I think you're a genius, Clara Slate. :) )
Let the grounds remaining in the k-cup dry, and you have instant coffee too. This is why instant coffee is weak, it is already brewed. But, there is a simple solution. Just use more of it is all.
Pour over coffee voila! I do this using a single cup pour over filter holder, just prepare the kcup this way, balance it in the pour over thing and pour the water through.
Great idea and thanks for sharing. It will come in handy for those that do not have a KCup machine. I ended up getting a Cusinart brand last year on clearance. It was basically free because I had store credit at Bed Bath and Beyond :)
Thanks, for the tutorial. Do you have any tips to make the pouring faster because when I start pouring the water into the cup it starts out going fast but then quickly slows down to just a couple drops every few seconds.
It is worth the cost in the long run. I would buy a new Mr. Coffee or other knockoff type of coffee maker, the one that made the full pot of coffee which no one used up each morning by the way. Anyway the machine heating element would break in about 2 years...So off I would go to buy a new one at $20+ each time. Okay I spent about $100 with a 20% off coupon like over 8 years ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond for the Keurig basic model at that time and it is still working like brand new! So for me the cost savings and not to mention the frustration of always dealing with a broken Mr. Coffee machine was well worth it. Also you can get some really cheap K-cups at Costco or Sam's club. Don't have to spend top dollar for the "Starbucks" K-cups etc. Just trying to say, don't be penny wise and dollar foolish. The extra cost of the machine is well worth it over the years...it is actually cheaper now then having to keep buying a new machine every 18-24 months.
I FINALLY had a K-Cup coffee a few months ago when Costco was giving out free samples. It tasted and smelled EXACTLY like the instant coffee in a jar that I drank decades ago before finally getting a Mr. Coffee and making coffee with real coffee grounds. I took a couple of sips, but it was so awful that I threw the rest out. (I'm 65 now and probably haven't had instant coffee since I was around 30 yrs old, so it's amazing how my "taste" and "smell" memories came flooding back, pretty much instantly). Anyway, "to each his own". : )
I actually bought a contraption for this purpose bc I'm on the road 28 days a month and get tired of paying for coffee and my inverter is broken, so I can't use my single cyp machine. It's a fine mesh filter that is made to fit directly in any coffee cup or mug. Then it has a seal tight lid that keeps the flavors compound. It was like $10 and worth every penny. Just look on Amazon for "pour over single serve coffee strainer for k cups" that has much smaller holes that the sink drain. cold or hot brew
Great hack! My kureg died so I need coffee, and will try this. I'd let the boiling water sit in coffee to bloom it first, if you want stronger. I need one of those strainers.
Any solution that uses less dishes is fine with me. I feel like I do dishes ALL. DAY. LONG. We got K cups as a GIFT even though we don't have a K cup machine - glad we didn't throw them away!
Thanks for the video. I can never do anything with written instructions and cockroaches were in my Keurig and I haven't gotten any new filters. That was probably tmi and I apologize.
this video is super dooooooooper coolio!!!!!!!!!! Like holy moly i never knew life until i watched this video!!! thanks dudes and dudettes you saved my existence!!!!
I wish k cups had never been invented. I actually cannot stand anything that is single serve. All of that plastic is soooo bad for the environment. Granted a k cup is less plastic than a take out cup, but brewing your own coffee the normal way and using a reusable cup is the way to go. And it's cheaper too!!
Hi Amy! K cups at my Dollar Tree are usually near the other coffee, tea, creamers, etc., or sometimes they'll have a special display at the front of the store. Gevalia K cups come and go, so sometimes there will be a long period of time where they aren't seen (like a few months). Crossing my fingers that they come to your Dollar Tree!
OMg I am so excited to see this...you rock! I have 10 $1 coupons for Gevalia!!!....I wish DT was open 24 hours I would be there right now in a snow storm!!!
Barb Basel Would you mind clarifying please? The K cup I used in the video was supposed to be frothy, given that it was supposed to be for a latte. Ordinarily if the K cup is just for straight up coffee, then no it wouldn't be frothy like that. I hope that helps! :)
All you need is 20 or 30 yr old son to remind you to get a keurig to remind you that you’re using a coffee maker makes you old, and you’re doing it wrong you’re whole life then you realize ohhh I better see what that’sall about 😂
So.....we got a big box of free K-cups. Didn't have a keurig. Don't know anything about them (I remember when Mr. Coffee was the new way to make coffee). Hubs found a keurig at a thrift shop. No water reservoir lol I dunno..... I may just give away these K-cups and use a sensible coffee maker like always lol (BTW - those stove top percolators still make the best, strongest coffee!)
There are like 300 other videos with the exact same topic but nobody got +10min to watch the tutorial for something this simple. I'm glad I got to your video first, thanks!
Right ,i just pour the k cup coffee grounds into my regular coffee pot .Its so much easier.
I have also just emptied the contents into a standard drip coffee maker with paper filter, then brew as directed ; )
I put the filter over a cup and secured it with a rubber band then poured the water over. Much faster
I did that and it turned out fine
That didn't work at all for me, look forward to trying what she did in this vid!
I watched you do this video a long time ago; but, I watched it again as a refresher! Thanks, Clara!
This one is perfect! Watched several others, this is the best by far. The little Dollar Tree strainer (usually used for drains!) makes it easy to do without scalding yourself.

Love this version of using the k cups without the machine! My favorite video on this topic so far! Thank you for sharing
The music had me jamming out.
Thank you so much for these tips! Just made it and it turned out the same as from a Keurig but a whole lot cheaper and a huge time saver for me!
Just did this with the Starbucks version. Awesome - In my faves! Thanks!
This is so creative, I have a keureg but I think I would still use this method because sometimes the coffee doesn't come out strong enough, with this method I could run it through the filter twice to make the coffee stronger! TFS!!
Thank you for this easy tutorial. Just made my keurigmachineless tea and life is good. 👏🏽
This is really a neat way thank you, I have a cheapie single cup coffee maker from Family Dollar that I got for 10 bucks. So I just peel the top off and pour in, but this will keep me from using a paper filter. Very neat idea for those that don't have single makers. Hugs and Blessings

Wow! Great idea for loose leaf teas also ! Or when you travel👍🏻🍪☕️
Using a drain strainer is actually genius wow
I recently threw away my kureg machine but have several kcup left. So glad I found this video. I am going to try it thank you!
Awesome now all you DT people can enjoy the Gevalia Lattee.! I bought 10 boxes but i might get 10. It is so delicious for only 100 calories.
A slow pour-over like this is also a better method than the fast drip through method that the Keurig employs. You'll get more flavor!
You are GENIUS, am not a coffee drinker yet am gng to try this. Thank You for the brilliant idea. Hope, you are feeling better. Take Care.
Thanks for that idea. I see the green tea k-cups @the 99ct stores and pass them by bcuz I don't have the machine for it.
Those strainers you are using are meant for sink drains! Haha. Genius though
@dropdeadalina That's exactly what I was thinking, too. Just goes to show - uhmmm, my mind just went blank. That was to cool! checked today and my store didn't have those....booo hiss. they are so yummy.
thanks for sharing.
hugs and love

Didn't go out and buy the strainer I hold the k cup with tongs over the cup while I pour the water. Thanks for your video get inspiration.
Thank you so much!! :) so happy i watched your video, now i am going to try. god bless you and thank you again.
Wow! Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing!
the dollar tree sells those? cool! and smart idea. I don't have a keurig or anything.
Awesome idea!!
Great idea and thanks for sharing. It will come in handy for those that do not have a KCup machine. I ended up getting a Cusinart brand last year on clearance. It was basically free because I had store credit at Bed Bath and Beyond :)

Ida Harupa Thank you for watching!!!
Thanks, for the tutorial. Do you have any tips to make the pouring faster because when I start pouring the water into the cup it starts out going fast but then quickly slows down to just a couple drops every few seconds.
Wow! Thank you for sharing this information!
Thank you! I've always wanted to use the k cups, but don't have a keurig, now I know what to do!!
awesome idea! thank you for sharing Farah
You are awesome!!! I hope I find those k-cups!!!! Thanks so much for making this hack.
had a feeling this was possible...i mean $80-150 for a coffee maker is beyond rediculous. Thanks!
It is worth the cost in the long run. I would buy a new Mr. Coffee or other knockoff type of coffee maker, the one that made the full pot of coffee which no one used up each morning by the way. I'm going to be traveling through out Europe for 1 month. I'll try this method at a hotel room. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this video.

It depends what brand you taste, Peets "Major Dickenson" tastes great...others, not so much.

Thanks so much for your tip, right down to what to put into Amazon’s search bar - I just ordered one!

darshi purewal Thank you for watching!!!! xoxo
Great hack! My kureg died so I need coffee, and will try this. I'd let the boiling water sit in coffee to bloom it first, if you want stronger. I need one of those strainers.
this is awesome!!! I'm the only one who drinks coffee in my house and I'm too cheap to by a machine!!! :)
Thank you so much! I hope it works for you! I don't know if I could do it all the time but sometimes a week is definitely doable!
So one kcup equals one 8 or 10oz cup of coffee? How do I do this method to make a 14 or 16oz cup of strong coffee? Do I need to do it twice?
Great idea thanks!
Thank you for this video.
Any solution that uses less dishes is fine with me. I feel like I do dishes ALL. DAY. LONG. We got K cups as a GIFT even though we don't have a K cup machine - glad we didn't throw them away!
Very clever!
Thanks for the video. I can never do anything with written instructions and cockroaches were in my Keurig and I haven't gotten any new filters. That was probably tmi and I apologize.
Can you use milk instead of water ?
Thanks for the video. This is exactly what I was looking for!
thank you

For coffee yeah but not the fun flavors. I do agree with ya though
So is all your makeup and their plastic containers!
that's brilliant.

Frugal, Fun, & Fabulous Thanks, Tina!!!! I hope you found them! Kisses to little peanut! xoxo Clara
What aisle do you find the Kcups at?? PLEASE HELP I REALLY WANT THESE
Hi Amy! K cups at my Dollar Tree are usually near the other coffee, tea, creamers, etc., or sometimes they'll have a special display at the front of the store. Nice!!! Thank you.
OMg I am so excited to see this...you rock! I have 10 $1 coupons for Gevalia!!!....I wish DT was open 24 hours I would be there right now in a snow storm!!!
Was the coffee from the bag as frothy as the coffee from the K cups?
Barb Basel Would you mind clarifying please? The K cup I used in the video was supposed to be frothy, given that it was supposed to be for a latte. Ordinarily if the K cup is just for straight up coffee, then no it wouldn't be frothy like that. I hope that helps! :)
I didn't even know that Kcups were around 5 yrs ago, 🤣 I'm going to try this.

Holy s*** this is brilliant
Good idea, but I'm just happy I have a Keurig...best purchase I ever made! :)
Perfect for trips when the hotel dont offer a keurig. Ill be doing this next week.
Genius idea.
thank you mama
👍👍👍👍
If you want stronger coffee just poke a hole in the bottom, the smaller it is the stronger it will be but it will take longer to pour
thanks i accidentaly bought hot chocolate k kups instaid of the normal powder
So.....we got a big box of free K-cups. Didn't have a keurig. Don't know anything about them (I remember when Mr. Coffee was the new way to make coffee). Hubs found a keurig at a thrift shop. No water reservoir lol I dunno..... I may just give away these K-cups and use a sensible coffee maker like always lol (BTW - those stove top percolators still make the best, strongest coffee!)
clara can you this any k cups?
darshi purewal Not exactly sure (bc I've never tried others), but I don't see why not!!! Have fun! :)
***** Thanks!
THANKYOUUUUUUUUU !!! :D xxx
How to do it for iced? Like for snapples Kcup iced tea
+Doraemon Truthfully, I'm not exactly sure as I've never tried it. :(
I guess it takes more time. Brew with hot water, let it sit then put in the fridge and put ice haha
