Many spiritual traditions likely find their essence in the same fruit. I hope someday this will become part of the scientific main stream and we'll have a straight and narrow path to enlightenment for the masses without glittery distractions, fake gurus and empty afterlife promises.
Do you have any advice regarding when meditating is causing insomnia ?
Maybe you need to ease off. Try looking into the 'Do nothing' meditation technique. This really helped me when I was meditating so much that I couldn't switch it off.
Also at night in bed, allow yourself to indulge in the fantasy of thought if it helps you fall asleep.
