Tim booth and James are pure musical genius my brother passed away 97 I only found out 2003 that James and rem were his favourite hand on heart like tonite this live concert has gotten me and still today 2024 threw the hardest of pain and sorrow gold in my eyes ❤
I keep it alive booth and James big ❤ for them my eldest brother passed 97 his fav along with r.e.m tonite Coulsdon help let my broken heart cry jeeps it lit u get me
Well said - I've seen them loads of times live .... in comparison to The Smiths, Oasis and other Manchester bands they are so under-rated .... yet they have turned out brilliant album after brilliant album ..... full of emotional tracks that never fail to connect. They are amazing live and I feel privileged every time I see them perform a gig .....
The Smiths and James were and are both fantastic bands but The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays kicked the whole thing off, if you love one you ultimately love the other, symbiotic relationship ❤❤
I first saw them at Tiffanys night club in Leeds 1986. They were the top bill followed by the Bodines (glossop), flowers for agatha (factory) and the wedding present (factory) it was a belter of an evening and once you have seen it you do not un see it. Booth from Bradford, two chaps from two trees school denton - the best fusion of wyorks and lancs
JAMES...the most underrated band that ever graced our planet...fantastic live...fantastic songs,to provoke your mind to think....TIM BOOTH...so under- rated as a frontman/singer,for me,one of the greatest bands of a generation...LONG LIVE JAMES!!
I am ashamed I didn't realise how amazing this band was at the time. I am making up for it with binge watch, and realizing how many of their songs I didn't know where them.
One of the best albums and lyrics to the legacy of a man and band who will always be My light, I can only say 20 years on still the one of the best music I've ever heard, this always have a affect on me and my life
A truly great Manchester band, great live band with a really strong large variety of uplifting tunes, fantastically lyrically and energetic musically, I think Saul Davies has never got the. Refit he deserves for the musicianship he always brought to James ever since he joined them years ago, strong strutted rhythm guitar, Violin / strings / Percussion & best of all for me his Vocals, always been there just under Tim’s blend perfectly into the mix live or recorded in the studio, but his vocal harmonies in conjunction gliding along perfectly in tune giving a huge overall produced band mix. All great musicians.
A beautiful and brilliant band, so many amazing and meaningful songs, most definitely one of Manchesters finest, makes me proud to be a true Manc having lived here all my life in a wonderful city which has given the world so many brilliant bands with a difference, they’ve shaped my life, given me knowledge, creativity, influenced my own individual character that I am today and made me great skills to success as a musician, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, producer and much more.
Ian Mann Yes, I notice as I age that my music has become softer with more depth of meaning. As for "James" new album and especially the song "Moving On" I understand how such music could mean a bit more than usual. The whole album La Petit Mort is filled with pathos and sweet melancholy.
Ian Mann Did you know, this kind of dancing by Tim Booth is a discipline with a name, he teaches classes in it - some kind of free-form thing I couldn't possibly do lol. Interesting.
irene peers I heard him say what clearly sounds like a woman's name, Ailela, on another YT vid while they were in a Spanish-speaking country - it's not too common but heard in Hispanic cultures. If this is what he's doing, then only he knows why lol.
Catherine Rapicano Maybe it has a personal meaning ? I think that particular song is inspiring and find myself playing it every day like a mantra maybe Tim is the next Ghandi making the world a better place ha ha heavy stuff !
Have yet to hear a James song that did not contain a line or two that made you go "wow, well put..". So underrated, powerful pop songs, full of Wonderful Metaphors, glorious live, and a front man in Tim Booth with REAL charisma in his performances, and how many Bands can you remember saying that about from the 90's....................c'mon now, be honest!.
@@stokes8762 Did you seriously write this response to EVERY single person who referred to James as "underrated" within this thread, mate?! I've already counted three or four from you thus far...btw, I'm a near-lifelong Factory Records & Manchester music nut (esp' New Order, until Hooky departed in '07) who owns a brick from The Haçienda (a red one, signed by Hooky) & apart from 'Laid' & 'Sit Down', I don't really rate them very much, for a variety of reasons...& I've little doubt that I'm not alone in this respect!
I have always liked james from the late 90s and loved the hey ma album but when you watch this gig the songs sound even better live. I always had the oasis blinkers on but there well and truelly gone after watching this, absolutely class, tim booths dancing is quality and his singing is even better, a nee to see them live pronto
For me Oasis do not compare anywhere close to James and The Smiths for so many great songs, the brilliant live sound and musicianship. Yes Oasis I have to admit wrote some catchy songs but in my world I like some of their tunes but they’re shite!!!!
One of my favorites bands...i regret for not have been in the concert here in Lima Perú...that year i felt very sad....i only hope they come again...if they are still together..i hope it so...I only got to say that this is real music...with great lyrics...each time i hear and see the concert i fill with it energy....THAT IS JAMES!

What happened to the full concert. It has taken away from UA-cam. And the songs like Ring the bell separate video also not seen in UA-cam anymore!. Shame !
The most important part of this gig was Larry Gott coming out to play with his old band...and guess what? We don't get to see it. We do get to see him play though, which is great.
Something is wrong with this video. The real duration of the concert is 1h50, not 51mn... Many greats songs are missing. (Ring the bells, top of the world....)
James Iive remind me a bit of The Doors. Not from a musical POV. They sound very different but there is the same intellect in the lyrics and there is the same shamanic interplay between the band and the vocalist. Tim Booth is an amazingly free and 'in the moment' sort of vocalist. When the band are jamming toward a crescendo he's just totally lost in it. Luv this band.
***** Your reference to The Doors explains something I've heard from others like me, of that generation - the 60s. If you've lived through that time, then hear their latest album, there's something you recognize from years ago - a SMART band, with meaningful lyrics and a not-perfect lead singer. Music makes such a difference in all phases of life, but especially the early time when you discover how attached you are to rock, soft or hard. This is special music, and you can compare Jim Morrison and Tim Booth in many ways. The poet-actors of their times.
Sometimes...at times no band moves me like James. Poetic prose. Frikkin Manc hippy commune...love 'em

The Smiths and James for me are Manchesters best band for their great sound live and such a huge catalogue of great songs.
No one underrates them
Best band I've ever seen live 🌸
The Smiths and James were and are both fantastic bands but The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays kicked the whole thing off, if you love one you ultimately love the other, symbiotic relationship ❤❤
@@ryanorr8104 No love here for Joy Division &/or New Order (or even Electronic, featuring Barney from N/O & Johnny Marr from The Smiths), though...?

Same, I just bought it myself. Brilliant ❤
Fantastic music and an important to me because it's timed with recovering from bereavement. The lyrics are massive and a majestic band.
July 2024 still listening since early 90s
I am ashamed I didn't realise how amazing this band was at the time. I am making up for it with binge watch, and realizing how many of their songs I didn't know where them.
Nothing to be ashamed of chap, better late to the James party than never 😀

truely amazing show, a lot of emotions on that night
Best 90's band if you ask me.
All there tunes are great and have a meaning.
I so miss the 90's!!
We all have a little genius in us, how fortunate James and Mr Booth share theirs with us. Incredible poetry set to fluid music. Love it.
