Huh, I didn't know you once had a broken EVAX panel that you only succeeded in fixing now. I myself went with a much cheaper alternative: buying a 20-channel MP3 board & using that to play the tones & messages over the speakers. Works pretty dang good if I say so myself, & I might even be able to add a microphone to the system by buying an actual voice evac amplifier & connecting it together with the board. FINALLY an enthusiast thinks to put a "FIRE" lettering Genesis together with a trim plate that also reads "FIRE". (sure it's extremely redundant having that many instances of the word "FIRE" on/around the device, but it's still interesting if you ask me) Don't think I've seen a hobby system so far that had horns & speakers together in the same system. Wow, a System Sensor MDL3 can be used to make Edwards devices sync? Had no idea... (I'll have to try that myself if I get some Edwards alarms with strobes. I don't have an MDL3, but my panel has 5 sync protocols, including System Sensor Sync, built-in)
1. The Evax 100 was never broken, I just then got batteries for it which cleared all the troubles on that panel so I don't have a NAC 1 fault 24/7 on the main panel 2. I used that trim plate because it's more aesthetically appealing than a double to single gang adapter. 3. Yeah, pretty neat ain't it? 4. System Sensor Sync on your panel will work just a well as the MDL
In some buildings if they have the EST Edwards speaker strobes the little remote Strobes still have the little speakers so it kind of looks like their horn strobes. But I don’t have the horn and just the speaker sticking out just had a way they make it.
Both the strobes and horn/chime/strobes have the same grill design if that's what you're trying to say. You can't put a speaker in the single gang models as they're too small, so the "speaker" is a piezoelectric horn or chime.
@@jacobisworld9516 a tiny speaker would be inadequate for such installations as it'll blow up on 25v/70.7v voice evac systems even if it had a transformer, that's a lot of power for a small speaker to handle. In the industry where traditional A/Vs are getting smaller and smaller, speaker/strobes are not however, for a reason, it's to accommodate a speaker that's adequate for the job and that can handle the specs of a voice evac system.
Bro what are you saying? 😂 Horns don't blow up because 1 - they're on standard NACs that put out 12 or 24 DC nominal or filtered, and 2 - traditional A/Vs have a series of resistors and transistors that step down the voltage even further
Can I ask you a question? On my test panel I want to do audible silence so I would need a horn strobe with 2 Nac circuits and programming to achieve this?
Of course, ask away! There are two ways you can achieve audible silence 🔕. 1. 4-wire notification appliances with one NAC going to the strobe(set NAC to continuous or sync if capable, non-silenceable) and one NAC going to the audible(set NAC to whichever coding you like, silenceable). 2. 2-wire audible silence via synchronization with 2-wire sync-capable notification appliances. Set NAC to a sync protocol matching the manufacturer of the alarms, then select sync-mute or selective silence
Is there a way someone can connect a microphone to a fire alarm speaker sounder strobe… thing directly? Idk. Or does it require a panel to do something like that? Idk.
@@BlackLightning4547 Like, it won’t amply as much volume of noise as I would normally need if I bought some panel and some fire alarm horn sounder strobe…? I think… if I bought them it would need some sort of an amplifier for the speaker to amplify the noise I need or something? Idk. Also, your content is amazing, keep it up, I guess.
@@The-creator-of-good-videos-15 Thank you, glad you're enjoying the content. You don't need a voice evac panel, a two-channel amp with 15 to 25 watts will suffice, depending on how many speakers you're using. And if you want to play messages and tones, then you can add a mp3 player module to that amp, and there you go, you've got yourself a budget build voice evac panel. A lot of enthusiasts go this route due to the expense of actual fire alarm voice evac panels, and the fact that it's a lot more customizable. There's not a lot of voice evac panels that'll let you download or record your own messages and tones.
