    What brought me here was the unusual GOLD-colored chime in the thumbnail. Any idea if it came from the factory that way or if someone painted it gold? (probably the latter)
    At first I thought that the red-lens WS1T-24 was an actual device, Wheelock might have actually made one with a red lens though. I know thesdx either has or had a red-lens WST-24 with white fire lettering like you said. The chime next to it is actually the only chime I myself have right now.
    Clever idea with the "FIRE" lettering labels on the WS1T-24, I've made up some labels for strobes that I can print out as needed. (ALERT, FIRE, HALON, FM200, EVAC, & AGENT) I actually have a CPG V1971 strobe that didn't come with any labels that I could use the former with. Also clever idea with the PVC conduit.
    I noticed that despite essentially being the same devices just different brands, the chime in the hallway is single-stroke compared to the one in your room which is vibrating.
    I think that's the longest I've ever seen a smoke detector take to alarm from being sprayed with canned smoke.
    Nice setup by the way, much better on the ears than horns.

      Welcome aboard! Thanks for viewing!
      1. Yes, the CDC-24(rebranded Simplex 2902-9207) came NIB from the factory in that color.
      2. Yes, thesdx used to have a Wheelock WST-24 with the red lens with white fire lettering. Someone also has a WST-24 with an unmarked blue lens.
      3. Nice! The Honeywell SC806E1013 is a cool chime to own.
      4. Thank you! Although cutting out every individual letter wasn't particularly easy, as well as not looking as professional as printed labels, it still got the job done.
      5. Thanks! PVC was the cheapest option(like $2.80 for 10ft) compared to conduit and wiremold. And, it's already white(although a brighter white), which blends nicely with the white walls and ceiling.
      6. Yes, the 2902-9234 is the single stroke variant of the 2902-9207.
      7. I don't think the can was spraying initially.
      8. Thanks again! It took me a whole week to overhaul this system, but the result was worth it, and I just cannot stop staring at it, especially the gym portion.
      9. Booyyy, you got that right. Chimes are WAAYYY more pleasant to the ears than horns.

    • @BlackLightning4547
      @BlackLightning4547  3 роки тому

      Correct, which is bad for the solenoid

    • @Lachlant1984
      @Lachlant1984 3 роки тому

      @@BlackLightning4547 Is it? Is that because the solenoid is constantly charged and not moving because the hammer is against the gong? It also means in theory that the chime will only sound once and not again, meaning that people won't have much warning, imagine if a modern smoke alarm only beeped once when it detected smoke and didn't make a repetitious noise.

    • @BlackLightning4547
      @BlackLightning4547  3 роки тому

      @@Lachlant1984 Correct again, because having it on continuous will burn it out quicker due to not having its own switching on/off circuit like vibrating bells do.

      @Lachlant1984 3 роки тому

    • @BlackLightning4547
      @BlackLightning4547  2 роки тому +1

      Hmm, that's quite strange, considering that chimes are private mode devices, meaning that they cannot be used for public notification due to their lower decibel rating, or unable to provide the 10 decibels over ambient noise. So then what application are chimes used for, you may ask? Chimes are installed in buildings/areas where a loud notification appliance is too overbearing. These are your medical or mental hospitals, where you don't want to jump scare patients with a heart disease or something in that nature, but rather a notification that is adequate enough to alert occupants effectively. So to have chimes installed in your school makes me wonder if it's a medical school. If not, then that's a pretty abnormal install, but I guess the upside is that your ears won't bleed during fire drills. The downside is that you may not be alerted accordingly or may not take it as serious as blatantly loud notification.
