- This video looks are the difference between fake Oakely's Sutro, and real ones. Signs are easy to tell when comparing, but what to look for when you are buying a second hand pair with nothing to compare it to?

thank you, very useful video. all indicators are spot on!
Got a pair on offer up and well thanks to this vid I was able to basically ask for my refund instantly…. Thank you!
Every time I spend a lot of money on an item and get to feeling really good about having it something goes wrong. Glasses always get dropped and scratched. Jerseys and bibs get ruined it the wash. White cycling shoes or bar tape get nasty the second or third use. So can you understand why I don't want to spend a lot of money anymore? We all want to look good cycling but most of us can't afford to. Why does a real pair of Oakley or Rudy or any other brand of glasses have to cost almost $300 when it's just mostly plastic? The tech put in to Prizim has been out many years now and the price should be lowered. I have no problem buying copies from China if they seem like quality products.
brand matters in cycling - you don't want to buy a nasty China product even though the aspect is the same.
Materials and safety for your eyes are more important than saving $250 dollars and buying them from aliexpress..
Got a fake pair of Oakley Encoder recently. A lot of the same fake qualities as the Sutro. Glad I'm covered by the Ebay money back guarantee.
I bought mine off zalando when they were 60% off and it says Oakley in the middle and on the sides so is there any chance that they are fake?
Thank you for the nice comparison. Thumbs up!
and the PRISM writing is further away from the frame on the fake one. This is what I've noticed straight away.
Thanks for the great video
at first I thought about buying the fake ones because of the look , but I thought about it again and I like the tech so I will be buying the real ones
Thx for the comment. Yes, the look is the same. The feel is different with the frame and I'm sure the lens tech is totally different. Though I've never compared the lens tech side by side with the same color lens.

Amigo disculpe tengo unos oakley y dicen oakley 11.0 pero en UK son 10 que talla vienen siendo?
Any other place than ebay or etsy to find an authenitc pair of vintage Oakley Sutro sunglasses?
Ive had real $300.00 Oakley 's and fake $.40.00 ones. They both did the job, nothing more nothing less. If you want to spend a fortune, go for it.
Is so funny how their explanation always goes to "real ones feel a lot nicer" 😂😂😂😂😂
Where can we found fake Oakleys?
Fake Oakleys are junk. My eyes are worth more than $300 to me and that trash shit isn’t worth $5. If you’re poor then just say that.
Dude the fake ones are made in a factory down tbe street from the real ones the use the same procedures as the real ones lol. @@adammorgan7874
I recently bought a pair and the serial number is under the arm can anyone verify if real or fake?
Unfortunately the previous link and their contact information I had is no longer working so I can no longer pass along information regarding the seller I purchased from on Ali express... You can try to search for them using "sutro sunglasses" and look under reviews for photos (many look similar to the ones posted in my video). You can also contact the seller to ask if they have the "logos" and photos as they won't post photos taken with them on Ali express. Hope this helps!
i just bought one in MBK Bangkok , now it has a serial number BUT there is a screw showing up along the joints… its so hard to tell… except that the screws on the arms are quite visible
This is why I only like buying expensive sunglasses at a store. The bike/running shop I just bought my sutros at even gave me a 10% discount because I got the display pair out on the case, and there was the slightest scratch on them, which was really just a slight smudge that I was able to clean off with soap and water.
Is the serial number etched in or just printed where it fades from putting on and off?
Are the prism stickers noticeably different on fakesv
They are etched into the lens as well (on both pairs). Only difference is they are slightly larger on the fake pair (as shown in the video). It would be hard to tell on its own
@@runbikeswim3652 and the PRISM writing is further away from the frame on the fake one. This is what I've noticed straight away.
I recently bought a pair and the serial number is actually under the arm? Real or fake?
Same
Can you give me the link of the fake sunglasses ?
can you put a real lens into a fake frame?
Good question, never tried... I haven't even tried to put in the lens that comes with them. There are videos online how to, but I like the look of the Gold lens and just keep them in.
@@runbikeswim3652 sounds like a daft question but would you be able to try and let me know if it works? i have a fake set liek yours but want to put buy a real lens so that i get the benefits of their lens tech. thanks
@@jamesd5241 sry for the late reply... Unfortunately the real lens seem a lot harder to take out and I don't want to force em. I don't have any intention of swapping lens and will just leave em as is. Sorry about that.
Link to the fake ones ?
I just got a fake pair advertised as authentic. They were a gift for my nephew and I was so disappointed after giving them to him. Their boxes have improved since this video but immediately after getting them out I could tell they were junk. I’ve had many Oakley sunglasses and the quality is no comparison.
You compared all of these differences between the two but didn't even mention anything about the most important difference between them - the lens quality. The lens in the fake pair is nowhere near the same quality as the real ones.
Exactly, anyone who thinks they are similar, like many in the comments claiming they have both fake and real, are cracked. The prizm lens technology is very noticeable as it really increases the contrast of things and the overall optical quality is very different.. And even then, things like the prizm logo mentioned in this video are clearly stamped on vs the real being laser etched.
lets be real, they all designed in US. but manufactured in china. The only difference is whether the factory get the contract or not.
I've got a pair of real and fake Corridor's. Virtually identical! Lenses are great on both....fakes were a fraction of the price. Wish I could return the real ones and get a refund!
Link to fake ones ??
@@runbikeswim3652 what is it my email isn’t working right now for sum dumb reason
Should only buy Oakley's from Oakley store
I Like fake ❤️
Ah man I got a fake one I mean what did I expect I paid 85$
I mean, you could've easily gotten a pair for 100$ at a sale or something
I like whit
I got a pair of fake sutros because I’m not spending $150 on a pair of “real” glasses.
You can find a pair for less than 100 if you look properly
Where did you buy that?
the difference between real and fake is huge. The real ones are a lot better built, less likely to break, have significantly better optical quality and increase contrast.
Lol to be honest I am more convinced to get the fakes. Comes with a cleaning cloth and extra lenses. Lol wtf Oakley.
They stole the name from the Sutro brand that was from San Francisco.
Buy a fake frame and a real lens
Fake frame broke within 3 weeks of easy wear.
Yeah I'll stick with the fakes free lenses and you'll not know the difference u less your an oakley fanboy
