Jack Dempsey said that boxing training revolves around running and sparring. The morning of the Willard fight he "only ran 7 miles". Jess Willard and Jack Johnson went 26 rounds in blazing outdoor Havanna, Cuba heat. How many of today's fighter could do that?
Running in straight Line is worst for boxing, waist od time, energy and joints,if you want run do that in the ring in the circles, left and right, foward and beckward, simulating boxing in the ring!
@@ivanbuzov6279 No country in the world has spent more time and money on researching sports performance than Russia. Their boxing team was the first to incorporate weight training into boxing training and the first to use plyometrics in boxing training. Every member of their boxing team does distance running as well as wind sprints. Their research indicates it is necessary for top performance. The same is true of the best amateur boxing team in the world, the Cuban boxing team. They dominate amateur boxing since the 1980's and every one of their boxers does roadwork. If you were to tell the Cubann boxing coaches that roadwork is a waste of time they would laugh at you. Believe what you wish, but remember the best sports researchers in the world and the two best amateur boxing teams in the world all believe in running.
LMAO I love old school methods but nutritional advances have proven a huge benefit to all sports and even jack dempsy had a whole chapter in his book to how important it was. Old school fighters like John IceMan Scully have been huge proponents of nutritional education and how modern knowledge on the subject would have aided him from the old school starve yourself techniques.
The strength & conditioning coaches' primary goal is to reduce injury. The amount of training and schooling that strength & conditioning coaches undergo can not be obtained through time spent in the gym alone.
My daughter started boxing 4 years ago. And I cringe at most the things boxing coaches say about strength & conditioning training. But out of respect for the coach being a leader, I bite my tongue.
One of the best trainers out there. Developed GGG into hard punching pro and dominating middleweight champion. Should still be training guys to punch like a professional and really set on their punches.
I agree 💯. I would like to add huge growing problem with this young generation in combat sport is smoking marijuana. I’ve been preaching to my fighters about it. It does no good for a fighter. I’ve see it with my own eyes.
Steroids also like many of the top champions today. 😂 😅😂😅 Sadly they get away with it for now. Yet that will eventually take its toll on them. Eventually the toll will be paid.
Completely disagree with the nutritional part .. supplements are required more then ever because our soils are depleted so fruits and vegetables aren’t as nutritionist as they were before
I disagree. I believe the vast majority of supplements are BS. If you eat healthy, eat the major food groups like they used to, you will get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs. None of that stuff existed in the old days, and fighters went 15 tds easy. Now fighters get tired after 8.

That why GGG said getting a nutritionist was the best change he had in his career/life.
But it wasn't. GGG wasn't as good once he left Abel.
@ he was an old GGG by then

La importancia de tener buenos mentores como el Sr Robert en cualquier deporte.
“Simple nutrition” comer bien no tiene que ser tan complicado 👏🏻

The old school is the best school
Didn’t Abel say he was retired after he sold his camp in Big Bear?
It’s not about the equipment but the guy 5:34 wears Winnings 😅
With the SNAC banners hanging 😅😅😅😅

GGG made such a mistake letting Abel go
He’s lying about the diet part. He knows it. The diet is the secret.

very true, didn’t even think about this
He could have been referring to protein shakes and creatine.
