Doing uber in north and central London on a home made electric bike, it’s fun and you can make £12-14 an hour easy. I’m a student so the job is perfect for me as I can decide when I wanna start and stop working
hope you dont mind i featured your channel on my channel. quite funny how your an engineer and do uber on the side.... i actually do the same, i have a full time job as a maintenance engineer and i just do uber on my days off. what do you think about deliveroo going to free login? i have a feeling there also going to be delivering Mcdonalds soon...
You are spot on about the delivery insurance. I'm 21 and I attempted to become a Uber Eats driver using my old car worth about £300 and the cheapest quote I got was £4350!
The problem with Uber eats is that income is largely dependent on orders available. Where i live, there are days I'm logged on from 12-10pm and there might be only a couple of orders, in some cases none at all! Even when they send notifications saying its expected to be a very busy day, hours could go by with not a single offer.
Hello! I'm a student. I lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I work in Foodpanda delivery. I like my job. Bt they pay 0.32 pounds for a single delivery. Today i worked 9 delivery 12km in 5 hours. Its really lowest payment. Isn’t it?
@@rashedmahfid9626 Hi Rashed, You can't compare the two economies.. The pay in both countries should match the cost of living, for example how much do you pay for groceries or for your rent (if you pay rent). Cost of living is much lower in Bangladesh than it is is the UK, don't you agree? Also, companies will pay less if they have large amounts of people willing to work for them. That's also the reason most companies hire their workforce in eastern countries, or purchase products from the factories: because it's cheaper..
I only just started riding with uber and I have a few problems with the App: For us riders on bikes it can be difficult and pointless for us to deliver large amounts of food especially pizzas on bikes. The uphill terrain, potholes, etc just means once we get there in 30 minutes or so the food will be completely screwed up meaning no tips and they'd probably avoid uber and try a different delivery service. This also means once you ride 30 minutes out of your main zone you're probably gonna have to ride 30 minutes back and decline orders as you're riding back since you don't want to be delivering in a zone you're not very familiar with. It make sense for Uber to show us as riders where were dropping the food off before picking it up. I can pick food up and realize it's over 3.5 miles away and then end up cancelling it after I've waiting for the food to be made and picked it up. It's best to just show us where were going so we don't have to cancel orders - cancellations from riders will go up but it does save uber support time and money. That way once a rider declines the order can be sent to a moped or car in the area. My second problem is the GPS. It's not accurate or great, I'm not sure how they can completely fix it but as riders apparently the GPS is made for drivers. It'd make sense for uber to either develop their own app for riders or partner with an app that has maps that cater to riders. There are more issues but lastly i'll mention how uber should talk to the restaurants they partner with like mcdonalds and make sure once an order comes through mcdonalds makes it asap. It seems like mcdonalds and a couple of other places are the only places to start making the order once you arrive which doesn't make sense to me. If you have 4 orders and then a customer puts an order in through ubereats that customer should be number 5 and the food should be being made or ready as the rider/driver walks in. Not if you have 4 orders and then a customer puts an order in through ubereats that customer isn't number 5 but whatever number it is when the ubereats rider/driver shows up.
I can see why they do this though with not telling you where it's going till accepted as people would be cancelling the far ones and doing all the close ones. Also with mcdonalds making the food when you arrive to collect it means it's less waste if you come late its not sitting there going cold and you can have a better chance to get it to the customer while it's still warm
@@MegaNayton People cancel the far ones anyway. I cancel far orders even after I've picked up the food. The solution to this is to realize riders don't want to ride 3.5 miles+ and they'd rather stay in their area or the one next to theirs so they should offer far orders to cars or mopeds. You can have it how it is now, make the rider and customer wait for the food to be made and then afterwards it gets cancelled or you can have it so if I or some other rider sees 3.5 miles we can instantly cancel and then that order can go to someone else and another person until it's accepted, this probably wouldn't take more than 3/4 people. This may sound longer but I assure you it's faster than waiting for the food, calling support and then cancelling and this happening multiple times. Also, I don't hate long orders, I'll take 2s and 2.5s but 3.5 is way too far and then I have to decline orders on the way back to my zone. As for the mcdonalds making the food when you get there I can understand that and it's also mcdonalds, but I'd still say because deliveries and the delivery industry is new they should have a heater section for food that's slightly above room temp so once the delivery guy comes to pick it up it's ready and warm. Not a huge issue for me, more of a thought.
Hey Ted, For the GPS download Google Maps, set yourself as a cyclist on it and change the settings in the uber driver app. Then when you get an order, you click on directions. It’s better and adapted
I'm a 46 yo self employed software developer In northern Israel, and I like going out on my MTB for hours 2-3 times a week. Watching your vids (you're very cool btw) makes me think that's it's a cool way of making extra money when I'm tired of my "normal" work.. Have you seen many "old" guys (above 40ish) doing this? Like you, I don't really NEED to, but if I ever move to a large city with a similar service, I might join the crowd :)
I would definitely recommend you sign up to do something similar! It’s fun to have this top up an Amazon gift card every week for example. Treat yourself to nice stuff that you worked for by exercising. I’m trying to convey this message, how much fun it is to have side hustles, especially if it’s making you healthier too! Good luck!
Could you please make a video about only tax for example how to register if you have a main job on if you haven't a main job and how to pay the taxes? When pay the taxes? Should we give any details about the first main job when you apply for tax pay etc. Thank you so much for all your info and awesome videos.. small suggestions if possible then please record te mobile screen (obviously blur the name and adress of customers) that would be really nice to watch the videos coz we can see how you accept or reject or tge map accetra. Thanks in advance for the tax video. Hope soon
hello, I wanted to find out which is best to work for or at least what are the differences between ubereats, Deliveroo and just eat? thank you, I enjoy your videos
I would have loved to have done this when I started working as a grad engineer in Bristol 17 odd years ago - unfortunately as life progresses things change, time is short, wages (hopefully) increase and the benefit of doing this would wane - I imagine you wouldn't want to pay 40% tax on the cash you make doing this once your career progresses! Great way to exercise via bike riding though - if there weren't people sat on their backsides with more money than sense ordering stuff like this, such opportunities wouldn't exist ;)
i have a street montain bike, and after 2 hours in rush hours i m dead tierd. I rlly want to buy an electric bike but i don't know if is gonna worth it, i got a full time job 8-4 pm and i don t rlly fancy going out after work doing uber.
on the issue about 15 quid an hour being shit pay..... my job working in a betting shop is roughly 8.70 p/h, with all the stress and responsibilities of think 21, all the gambling laws and restrictions for protecting those who might have trouble financial, addiction to gambling etc and all the shit that entails.... i say that earning like double that per hour for literally picking up some food cycling to a place and dropping it off seems very stress free in comparison. so much so that yeah im looking into either replacing my own bike with an electric or upgrading it with a motor etc and doing some bike food delivery as a side gig to boost my income a fairish bit.
Missed the videos. Keep up the good work I’m in the process of signing up to do this so your videos have helped me understand so much. Have Uber given you a slap on the wrist or did you inform them 1st ? Thanks

Check out Joseph Kendrick on his fixed gear riding 24 hour shifts
If it's the same guy I've seen before he's in a very flat area of London
What model of panniers do you use? I know they're Basil, but what type and capacity?
Do you carry the delivery bag or would you rather strap the bag down on a rear rack? and why>?
Cheers man, so happy for you, keep it up mate luv watching ur vids .

Rashed Mahfid Crazy, I know people here who get paid around 650-700 in your currency per delivery!
