Money. They got those guitars for practically nothing. That is why they were worthless. They were in stock for people who could not afford better guitars(ever heard the term "affordable" which really means "crappy"?). The sales guys tried to tell him not to stock them, but our advice fell on deaf ears. I am just glad to now have my own business and don't have to put up with it anymore! Thanks so much for watching my video!
EricBlackmonGuitar well, seems kinda shady to sell such an expensive guitar to a beginner, but hey, i suppose you are straightforward to your costumers and i appreciate that.
The guitar that the customer wound up buying was a great one, and probably worth more now than he paid for it. That is the beauty of buying a really good instrument, whether you are beginner or not. It appreciates in value. Crap just gets more worthless. Thanks for watching!
I worked in a music store years ago (family business), similar thing happened except it was cheap violins, they weren't just cheap but playable as some would be but they were trash. Family wouldn't listen when customers who'd bought them kept bringing them back (no shit every single 1 of them was defective) until the owner had a customer bring 1 back n he had to deal with it. The fingerboard snapped off n dropped on the floor as he was tuning it. As for why they sell them there are many who can't afford or won't pay more than $X (whatever amount in their mind). They may want the american made gibson or fender but its waaay outta their budget. Real problem is not all cheap guitars but those that really are crap.
EricBlackmonGuitar You know Eric, I like your style.Too bad your not in Reno NV.I would support you just for your honesty alone. We only two main places to shop,GC and a privately owned.Neither is worth a #=÷% Good job sir
EricBlackmonGuitar Eric, I haven't owned my own guitar but I have been playing awhile at school and at my friend's house, I can read lots of chords and play them and scales and such, would a 90$ davison electric guitar off of Amazon be worth the purchase or no? I what's considering a fender squier but my birthday's around the corner and I can only afford the Davison e guitar, your thoughts and opinion?
You GET what you pay for. It's probably OK, but will need much set up work to be really playable. You spend $90, but then you will need to spend another $120-200, of set up work by a qualified luthier. MIGHT be better to spend that ~$300 on a better guitar. IF you are really ON a budget, GO to Guitar Fetish, they have very good acoustic and electric guitars for not much more. And they will be much better set up out of the box than a $90 big box move sale on Amazon. Good luck.
Hi David! Buying a guitar for $90 is only risky when you don't know what you are getting. I just bought a guitar for $45 that is great, but I got to check it out before I bought it. I ordered one online for $100.00 and had to return it because is was totally unplayable and unfixable. It wound up being a waste of time. I know it can be hard, but try to buy something that you can see, touch and feel. It will save you a ton of time and grief. Thanks for watching! Here is the story on that guitar! ua-cam.com/video/pWWV8PFd5h8/v-deo.html

@nihl hinz only true because you have a negative bias of black people, so when you see one that doesn't fit your bias you need to praise them for just talking
Years ago I did a little work for a music shop M********. They sold Satellite guitars 6 on the side headstock style. Kid comes in wants the guitar, but 3 on each side. I told him that Crymbles did that style. The same guitar, just different headstock. I suggested he and Daddy went and bought that guitar there. So they did. Boss was furious, you should have offered him a discount etc. I said but he’d always have wanted the other one … Boss was angry. 30 minutes later, the kid and Daddy return to the shop with the Crymbles guitar. They then bought bought a VERY expensive valve (tube) amp there in M********. I asked them why in front of the Boss. Because you didn’t lie to us … The truth is the way!
That is what I am talking about! Do what is RIGHT for the customer(WHICH IS ULTRA RARE THESE DAYS) , they will never forget it. Sell a customer a cheap piece of crap or something that they don't really need or want, and lose them as a customer FOREVER! Good call my friend! Thanks the for watching and your awesome comment!
I just watch your video and I am in uncontrollable laughter right now thank you man I needed that that might be one of the funniest stories I've ever heard from a Salesman and I bought a lot of crap!

Great answer, by the way. Probably a lot easier for a new guitarist to understand than trying to explain hardware, wood choice, and labor costs to them.
You are right. All that stuff just confuses newbies. You can educate customers over time about those things. This is why I had a problem with selling customers the cheapest thing that we had in the store. After they return to the store and talk with a sales guy a few times they start asking "why did you sell me this piece of crap??! I did everything that I could to make sure that players were happy with what they purchased. Customers always return to the guy that meets their needs. That's how I got to be top sales guy. The other guys tried to get there with volume. Didn't work out for them. Thanks for watching Kevin!
Nice story, its nice to have a "fireside" guitar around. I usually give my acoustic guitars away, but end up getting another. I keep mine in my trunk to play on my lunch break. Not a big deal if something happens with it. Could also be used as boat paddle if I ever get flooded lol.

Glad you clarified in the comments about that particular guitar, and not the price. low retail priced modern guitars are often CNC built to better tolerances than top end guitars used to be. Difference comes down to set ups. A good set up can make a cheap guitar play like a midrange or higher. Adjust truss rod, tweak nut, drop saddles, adjust pickup heights, tune up to the note not down to the note for good stability, use an electronic chromatic tuner. I have fixed $1000 guitars that shipped from branded factories with uneven frets (fret level required) while a $100 unit had perfectly level frets.
You are so right! Bad guitars came in to our store all the time in ALL price ranges. I worked for a Mom & Pop store(not a franchise) so when one was bad, we just sent it back and got a replacement! The big box stores don't do that. They just mark them down and sell them when customers return them! Thanks for watching and for the very informative comment!
a $1000 is out of the price range for a lot of people, and a $100 guitar can be discouraging, especially for a beginner. I think Seagull, Cort, Teton, and some other companies make good guitars in the 200 to 500 range.
A good guitar can be found in ANY brand for $100 or less if you buy used and know what to look for in a guitar. This story was about a retail store with limited inventory(long before the Guitar Center days). Here is a playlist of great guitars bought for $100 or less! Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/play/PLHdKL0zeGNk7Mme3d4_Uw9Pd-RgsqxyDf.html
Yet, you can get an el cheap'o Set Up correctly and still have a descent guitar... Not a Taylor, mind you,,, but, still much better than Factory Settings. ;)

hi Eric, thats a great story. the punch line made me laugh out loud. i sorta have my own version; one day, 24 years ago now, i came home from work and sitting in the bedroom was a gig bag with a birthday card on it, (it was my birthday that day), and my wife was standing there with a sheepish grin on her face.. my wife didnt know the first thing about guitars, but went to guitar center and trusted in the salesman.. she told him her budget and she came home with a Sigma DM 2. not the most expensive of guitars. but ive had it now for almost 25 years and it still sounds great. not an heirloom guitar.. but ill hold off on using it for kindling for a while.. lol!! :-D
I agree! After $400 you are giving money away, and some folks are cool with that just to get a big name or some non-musical extravagance. Thanks for watching! More from EricBlackmonGuitar ua-cam.com/users/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos
I'm glad I read your comment. I thought something was wrong with my ears! I normally don't touch guitars that are over $799, but II was curious to find out what the difference was since I always see people in guitar center playing them. I didn't hear anything different. Some project more, some have more low-end, and some are brighter, but like you said you can find any one of those that you desire at $400.
I have found the same thing to be true. They tend to need more TLC to get them up to potential but after that is done it is a matter of vanity and nothing more. LOL not that, that is wrong. Hey I have a 3k acoustic that turns heads, but honestly, I spend more time playing my YEP $ 400 Guild with some upgrades. 😽👍
I spent about $500 on an acoustic a few months ago, not a brand I'd ever heard of, but man did it sound better than any Martin or Taylor in that price range. I don't know how their more expensive ones are but brand does not mean a damn thing as far as I'm concerned, and I ain't paying for a name.
BroncoFanatic your paying for the Finnish. "your paying for the Finnish." >your paying >for the Finnish as a Finnish person I'd like to thank you on behalf of myself, and the rest of Finland too, for your money. Very considerate.
In the early 70's, when I was 12, I really wanted a guitar, so one day my father came home with an "acoustic guitar" he got at Western Auto for $10. It was impossible to tune and had an action more suitable to a high-wire act. That was firewood. A couple of years later, a friend with an actual guitar taught me to play my first song, John Lennon's "Working Class Hero." I saved up and ended up buying a Yamaha FG-180 Red Label, which s a D-18 copy, and well made. I still have that guitar, although I haven't played it in years. These days, I practice 2-3 hours most evenings, and have graduated to a small stable of very nice acoustics, plus a couple of electrics. I've just started checking out your website - thanks for making so much great stuff available!

Single use guitars. Good point though. Should be the difference between a $350 guitar and a $1300 guitar. Never spend anything less than $300 on a guitar is what I always say.
I have spent far less, but the value of the guitar was always far above the price. The guitar in this video was worth about 10 bucks lol! Let me tell you a little story. There was this young man. He was poor as the day is long. He couldn't afford an expensive guitar. So, he had to take what he could get. After saving up his money, he bought that cheap guitar. He learned how to play on it. He learned about the parts of the guitar and how to take care of it. And then, after a while, he joined a band. Then, the band got famous. His playing skill made him famous. Oh, he has many names: Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Eddie Van Halen - the list goes on and on and on. So, before you drop your drawers and take a steaming dump on that $100 guitar like you just did in this video (figuratively), you might want to think about that. That $100 guitar could make you MILLIONS upon MILLIONS.
The same story happened to me. I now own over 100 guitars. But it could not happen with the one in this story because it was worthless. I started on a guitar that cost $59.95, but the quality was far better than the one that the store tried to sell for $100.00. it was a total ripoff. Thanks so much for watching! MORE from EricBlackmonMusic! ua-cam.com/play/PLHdKL0zeGNk6sM_RApksb8cpgxVWxklqJ.html
Or you could get frustrated with the shitty guitar and give up like 90% of people. You're just using an exception as an argument. Plus, a $100 guitar back in the 80's would be like $300 now and at that price you're actually looking at decent guitars.
FYI: Did you know that many companies don't just inflate prices for bottom line? Most merchandisers know by now that people equate cost to value. And so if I had to pick between 300.00 or 100.00, on a budget, I'd probably go with 300.00 just because of my own head and nothing to do with quality or sound.
That's right V.Z.! That's why the decent models of NEW guitars start around $300.00($299.99). The figure that customers think the good guitar should cost. Those ignore their perceptions by shopping for the best guitar I can buy for next to nothing, which is why I have a stable of guitars that range in value from $200-1500, but I only paid from $1-$200 for them all. :)

I worked in a guitar shop for a short time, and once had to demo a TERRIBLE acoustic guitar for a little girl and her mom...If sounded bad and played hard, and I wanted to direct them to a used but much better guitar...but the owner wanted to push these new junk "beginners" guitars...he probably bought a truck load. So I tried to play a little acoustic Jimmy Page, and the girl recognized it...she was impressed, but they left without buying...and I left the job about a week later. I don't like to sell junk.
That was exactly my position! My boss used to get upset with me all the time because I wanted to make sure that my customers got good gear! I am very glad to be totally out of that crap sales business! Thanks so much for watching!
Love that story Eric! Thank you for sharing. I'll have to remember that on our next campfire outing. Lol. Subbed and really do enjoy your style. BTW, I bought a Tele style guitar at a truckstop about 10 years ago for $100. It is a " Main Street". Bought it as a novelty because it has an American flag paint scheme. Well, at some point I took a notion and put Fender pickups in it and had new pots installed and a little neck work done along with a professional set up. Eric, darned if that old thang don't play and sound like a $1000 guitar. Thought I'd share that with you for a laugh but honest to goodness it is an absolute true story. God bless you man!

I once almost bought a $200 guitar that sounded better than any other guitar I've ever played including my own Gibson J-200. I didn't buy it; I told the owner what she had. To her it was just some guitar that had been sitting in her attic for over 10 years since her father died. I explained to her what a pre-war Martin guitar was (and yes, I called up the Martin factory. They said it had been made in 1935) and that it was worth thousands. The sad thing was I was just starting to date her and we broke up after one date. I don't know if she really believed me and I shutter to think someone else got a $200 pre-war Martin instead of me.
Thanks Gary! I am glad to be working for myself today so that I can be totally honest with clients without a boss looking over my shoulder! Thanks for watching!
I bought a guitar at Goodwill for 20 bucks in 1981. Took it to a Roy Orbison concert and after the show waited out back for him. He gladly autographed it. Might be worth more than 20 bucks now.
Awesome! I certainly would value it for a lot more! There are a lot of fans who would die to have that signed guitar! I have a cheap Squier that was signed by Chicago that I would never part with! ua-cam.com/video/0J_AKS0ae1Y/v-deo.html Thanks for watching Russell!
Great story!!!! Owners can be hard to deal with! I worked in a fish store where the owner would hold onto fresh (?) fish as long as possible. When someone would try to purchase older fish I would suggest something else. Without saying anything, my regulars trusted me enough to know what I meant. That was a good feeling. Even on busy days, people would wait for me to serve them. RE: 100 vs 1000 hit me right! I, for my wife, bought a used Epiphone Hard Rock Cafe at a major chain, hard case, just worked that day for sale, for $100. We were looking for me but she picked this up and loved it! Great voice, easy to play, Lynne loves it as well as I do. Went back to purchase mine, we had lost everything in a house fire, and I ended up with a Taylor 214 ce which I'm loving also. BOTH guitars sound great! As stated, price is NOT a determining factor. I have learned more from you in the past coupla weeks than I did in years! Thank you from my heart, you have made it glad. Great teacher and an even better person.
Hi Robert, I used to protest the store's policies back when I worked there, but eventually figured out that I could not tell someone else how to run their business. So I just got out. I am now self-employed and don't have to deal with dishonesty issues! As you demonstrated with your purchases, you can find a great guitar at any price(as long as you didn't try to buy it at the store that I used to work LOL)! Thanks for watching ! I often see people assuming old guitars are worth a huge amount most of the time they're now rare and worth a reasonable amount but big bucks might be stretching it on some brands I've got a small pile of vintage MIJ guitars from the 60's to 70's and I love them but value wise not worth huge amounts
Two of my guitars have been bought for around 60$ (can) each and I still have them. But I bought them in 1968 and 1970! Both are 100% solid wood! Those were the days! 😁😊
Yep! The most valuable guitar that I own is a Gibson Les Paul that I traded my way to and don't have a penny in it. The second most valuable one, a 1930's solid top Harmony Blues guitar cost $59.00. That was just a great story, with an ending I didn't expect. Right now I'm shopping for another guitar, I'm a seasoned guitar player, but piano is my main instrument, so I don't want to spend a lot on my new guitar, since guitar is more of a hobby. I'm kind of focusing on Mitchell, because my friend got a good one for $125, and surprisingly, it compares very nicely with his Martin D-28! I have a nice Suzuki, a Martin 000-18, and a couple of cheapies, but hey. I'm looking pretty much for a cutaway dreadnought acoustic/electric that I can pull out on stage and do a couple of songs with - country.

Hey guys. I took the plunge. I spent $323. on a very slightly used Epiphone DR 400. I LOVE this guitar. It sounds and feels like a much more expensive instrument. And the the neck is heaven, man. It's big. It's full bodied sound is terrific.
Great story! I just subscribed to your channel; man, you have a lot of content to get through. Number one on my list is how to play old school 12 bar blues! Oh, and some people don't get the point of your story. That guy wanted the $1,000 guitar. That's why he bought it. Nobody made him buy it. I don't know the specifics but, yeah, there is a difference between a $100 guitar and a $1,000 guitar. If there wasn't, the folks who make that $1,000 guitar would be out of business.

I bought a fender acoustic new for $150.00 . It was my only acoustic and my favorite. It was great sounding and stayed in tune for day's , And weeks even. When I buy one it takes a place in the family, a good sales point is to get personal and ask about how much they play and how long in other words find a common ground and work that.an do they plan on in the future that could increase a sale. But always tell the truth. Ypu did it right.
You can certainly buy a great guitar TODAY under a grand. Heck I have some amazing ones that I bought for $50 bucks!! You just couldnt get one in the store that I worked in, which is part of the reason I got out of there! To this day they are doing bad business! Thanks for watching Francis!

That is an important and good point you make. It's the guitarist, not the guitar. I've seen guys that could make more music on a coffee table than other guys could on the world's finest instruments! I'm serious!
you can have a beginner play a very expensive guitar and they won't make it sound great instantly but you can get a great player and a reasonably affordable guitar and they can make it sound good there's bad " cheap " guitars then you've got some brands that make great affordable guitars just got to look around and see what works best for you
i spent 850 on my acoustic. the guitar sold itself just had to play it. ive had as many as 12 guitars at one point in time and ive let them all go but the one. with my experience id say the difference is the materials the guitar is made of and the amount of craftsmanship that went into building it.
I have over 100 guitars that are ALL amazing. I paid as little as $5 and as much as $650.00, so I believe that a great guitar can be bought at ANY price! Just not at the store that I was working. Eric - You handled your boss and the customer perfectly! I always said that cheap guitars have a very high "action" finger board and is discouraging for beginner students to cope with. One reason why I bought an Eastman John Pisano jazz arch top LOL!

I have several Yamaha guitars, and I love them all! The lowest priced Yamaha is far better than that no-name thing we had in the store trying to sell for $100! Your guitar is fine! Thanks for watching!
When I go into Guitar stores, I act as if, I know nothing! Then, I ask questions, I already know the answers to. This way, I soon learn if the sales person knows his/her stuff, or are just trying to sell a product they have no passion for in their life. Granted, some guitars are better than others, but an expensive guitar will do nothing but collect dust, if you don't know how to play. I always try to tell people, first buy a quality used guitar and see if you have the passion to stick with a practice routine. If, after a month or so, it ends up in the closet collecting dust, sell the guitar and get your money back. You have lost nothing, but you have still not learned to play guitar. Peace!
Hi Rockbay! You are so right! I sometimes go to stores with my students to help them find a suitable guitar. 100% of the time, a salesperson would try to do a selling job on us. We basically tell them to get lost, we will let them know if we need them. I had lots of repeat customers because I did not do that. I try to get students to check out used guitars(all 60+ guitars I own are used except 1). That 1 new guitar was a MF Stupid Deal Of The Day and was 70% off. Couldn't pass it up! Thanks for watching!
Good video. For years I thought my $175 guitar was great. Then I bought a 300 series , solid wood Taylor. The difference is night and day. Not only in sound but in playability. My playing has improved dramatically. I rarely ever play my old guitar anymore. Compared to the Taylor it's difficult to play and it sounds like a cardboard box. I wish I would have bought a nice guitar years ago.
There you go! It is always better to invest in a superior quality guitar if you can afford to, because if you are dedicated to playing well it is always worth it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting on my video!
Thanks Eleise! I never got a promotion though I was top sales guy for all the years that I was there. His excuse: "I was too friendly with the customers". Glad to be out of there! Thanks so much for watching!
That is exactly why some of my students call EEMusic(my school) "Eric's Home For Wayward Guitars"! I have so many cheap, souped up guitars! You will be seeing some of them soon!
I thought you were gonna say, Oh, an extra zero... But your answer made good sense too. There's a flip side story too: I walk into a store and the owner brags about this $10,000 guitar hanging up on the wall along with ABSOLUTE JUNKS! I walked out thinking, if it's really that much, HOW COME IT'S NOT IN ITS CASE?!
Hey Mike! The store that I worked in only kept a few guitars that were worth that much. They would only display them in a showcase window at the front of the store and you could only play them with a salesman present. Thanks so much for watching! EricBlackmonGuitar! 3000 Tutorials! I have a $300 Takamine and a $1000 HLP X-series of a Martin, and I think the Takamine is better. The thing is I've worked at a guitar shop too, and when someone asked me which guitar is better, Martin or Taylor or Takamine, I just told him to play them and hear and feel them himself. Coz everybody is different about what they want. So here's my story.
Hi Andrew. That is exactly what I say to every PLAYER. It is different when a person knows nothing about guitars. All you can do then is help them to find something in the range that they are willing to pay that is a good workable instrument! Thanks for watching and here's more on the channel! ua-cam.com/video/SvDMCSC5xi8/v-deo.html
Good one. I thought u were going to say the $100 can be just as good if that's the one u like. It's about how it plays for me. Last guitar looked really good so I ignored the fact that it was a horrible playing guitar. Didnt realize it was holding me back. A guitar should melt in ur hands like butter. It should inspire u n make u want to play it everyday n make u confident in public performances. If that is not wat ur guitar does for u u may have the wrong guitar.

Eric, this can be a lot like playing golf. A new player might think that if he buys a $1000 set of golf clubs he will play better golf. The truth is, he really needs to buy a starter set of decent clubs, or maybe a used set for $100. Once the guitar or golf clubs become used, the price drops down if you try to resell them.
Hi! I have been in this business for 50+years, and here is a truth that I learned. If you try to sell something cheap(or inexpensive to a person with a lot of money, you will lose them as a customer. People who are rich do not buy cheap stuff. That is why some guitar makers can sell some guitars for 10 Grand. We all know there is no guitar on earth that is really worth that. You can't give a rich golfer a $100 set of clubs! He would hit you over the head with them LOL! Thanks for watching!
I have a guitar that is less than $80, does that mean the difference is the sound? can i still paly songs with it without making me feel pissed and unmotivated?
If your guitar plays good, it is a good guitar. What you paid means nothing. I have guitars that cost $5 that play great! Just keep practicing and keep your eyes open for the great guitar at a great price!
Hey am I'm looking on starting to play an instrument and what I think is cool is a guitar but I wanna learn, so what's the exact diffrence between em? Like do they sound better or did I miss the massage of the story.
Hi Jan! The important thing to look for in a guitar is ease of play and good sound(which is decided by the individual because everyone has different tastes). If these two things are present, it is a good instrument, no matter who makes it or what the cost. Check out guitars I bought for under $100.00 for some ideas. Hey! Thanks for watching! Another true story coming soon!
i've just found this vid and that sentence fucked me up lol
store owner: "you cannot say that a guitar is bad. no matter how bad it is." why would they even keep those guitars in stock?
Thanks. I did all that I could to get out of selling my customers garbage. Thanks so much for watching!

That guitar that's to the left, is that a Joshua? Looks just like a guitar I have. What do the think of it?

Cheers

Your welcome. I enjoy your videos. You are a well accomplished player and instructor. Thanks
What do you mean tune up to the note and not down ?
a $1000 is out of the price range for a lot of people, and a $100 guitar can be discouraging, especially for a beginner.
Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/play/PLHdKL0zeGNk7Mme3d4_Uw9Pd-RgsqxyDf.html

hi Eric, thats a great story. the punch line made me laugh out loud.
i sorta have my own version; one day, 24 years ago now, i came home from work and sitting in the bedroom was a gig bag with a birthday card on it, (it was my birthday that day), and my wife was standing there with a sheepish grin on her face.. my wife didnt know the first thing about guitars, but went to guitar center and trusted in the salesman.. she told him her budget and she came home with a Sigma DM 2. not the most expensive of guitars. but ive had it now for almost 25 years and it still sounds great. not an heirloom guitar.. but ill hold off on using it for kindling for a while.. lol!! :-D
Happy 2021!

That price was on a crappy guitar that they sold in the store that I worked in. Check out my video "I Can't Believe This Guitar Cost $69"!
@@EricBlackmonGuitar for sure I will you should make a video on some of the best guitar you can buy
Personally I think that once you get passed the 400 dollar mark with acoustic guitars, the sound doesn’t get much better, your paying for the Finnish.
Hey I have a 3k acoustic that turns heads, but honestly, I spend more time playing my YEP $ 400
Guild with some upgrades.
"your paying for the Finnish."
>your paying
>for the Finnish
as a Finnish person I'd like to thank you on behalf of myself, and the rest of Finland too, for your money.

Or you could get frustrated with the shitty guitar and give up like 90% of people. You're just using an exception as an argument. Plus, a $100 guitar back in the 80's would be like $300 now and at that price you're actually looking at decent guitars.
I love people like you who show honesty

It's a pleasure Eric. Thank you.
I like these little life stories you throw in here and there. Keep it up. And thanks for the lessons. You got me back into learning.

Yea, the prewar martin costs about $20 new, and it was junk then, still is as a real music instrument.

I have a cheap Squier that was signed by Chicago that I would never part with! ua-cam.com/video/0J_AKS0ae1Y/v-deo.html

I've bought a few electric guitars for very cheap and upgraded the parts on them. Would you rather have a turd or a polished turd? You can either spend the time fixing something or you can spend the money for something that may need fixing much later on.

Yesterdays 'cheap guitars' are now 'collectors guitars' and some are worth big bucks!!!
Not the one I mentioned in this video. It will always be worthless. I have some of the ones that you mention. Like a 1930's USA made Harmony that I paid 59 dollars for. Thanks much for watching! 3000 UA-cam tutorials from EricBlackmonMusic! ua-cam.com/users/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos
I often see people assuming old guitars are worth a huge amount
most of the time they're now rare and worth a reasonable amount but big bucks might be stretching it on some brands
I've got a small pile of vintage MIJ guitars from the 60's to 70's and I love them but value wise not worth huge amounts
Good response. And you have ethics!
Awesome! :-) Thanks for watching my friend! More from EricBlackmonGuitar ua-cam.com/users/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos
It is not what you pay. It's what you get for what you pay. Thanks so much for watching my friend! I appreciate it!

I paid $300 with a case for an Agile 2000 8 yrs ago and I could sell it and make money on it ... but I won't. Plays and sounds as good as a Les Paul $1k guitar ... But I rarely gig ... so its perfect for me ... I saw this vid a couple of yrs ago .... still gets a chuckle out of me ... Peace Brother !!!
I feel you Brian! I just bought an SRV replica for $269 and thought it was going to be crap. It played better than my other Strats right out of the box! Blew me away! You will see a video on it soon! Thanks for watching!
A Les Paul is more like 3000$ these days sadly

@@EricBlackmonGuitar hay Eric were are you located ,north or south Carolina.? I think? If so, I would love to come down and buy a guitar from you, used that needs a good home or something, anything just a long weekend away from the kitchen.
My first guitar I bought after 35 yrs
Since I got married. It was from a pawn shop in Kensington before the virus bullshit now I am working on #12. Some new some old. I have 3 amps An 2 pre amps 6 peddles and watching as many videos on repairing guitars. Because working in kitchens since I was 14 is 40plus yrs of doing something in a love/hate affair. Music has always been my drive. I know everything is borrowed and the only thing we keep is what we shared. Hope to see ya,! Rock it!
i also worked in guitar sales and i had almost the same pitch but i said "the 100 dollar guitar is a toilet bowl guitar" customer said "what does that mean?" i said "well you can play it while sitting on the toilet and when you're done just stuff it down the toilet when you flush" customer said "won't that clog up my bowl?" and i said "that's what saxophones are for"

That is an important and good point you make. It's the guitarist, not the guitar. I've seen guys that could make more music on a coffee table than other guys could on the world's finest instruments! I'm serious!
you can have a beginner play a very expensive guitar and they won't make it sound great instantly
but you can get a great player and a reasonably affordable guitar and they can make it sound good
there's bad " cheap " guitars then you've got some brands that make great affordable guitars
just got to look around and see what works best for you
i spent 850 on my acoustic. the guitar sold itself just had to play it. ive had as many as 12 guitars at one point in time and ive let them all go but the one. with my experience id say the difference is the materials the guitar is made of and the amount of craftsmanship that went into building it.
I have over 100 guitars that are ALL amazing. I paid as little as $5 and as much as $650.00, so I believe that a great guitar can be bought at ANY price!

just a simple question. I bought a yamaha f310p today. it came with bag, extra strings and whole package. is it a campfire guitar ??
I have several Yamaha guitars, and I love them all! The lowest priced Yamaha is far better than that no-name thing we had in the store trying to sell for $100! Your guitar is fine! Thanks for watching!
HAHAHA!!! Thanks for the laugh Eric!

Thanks so much for watching and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and family !

Very clever Eric. Love your channel.
Awesome! Thanks for watching Scott! I really appreciate it! More to come!
I have a guitar that is less than $80, does that mean the difference is the sound? can i still paly songs with it without making me feel pissed and unmotivated?
If your guitar plays good, it is a good guitar. What you paid means nothing. I have guitars that cost $5 that play great! Just keep practicing and keep your eyes open for the great guitar at a great price!
thankyou!
EricBlackmonGuitar Dude thank you, and a great video. :)
I just bought a $100 electric guitar about 4 months ago. It's an Epiphone Junior Les Paul Special. Did I make the right in buying it?
That Epiphone is a good starter guitar! I just bought a very cool Music Man guitar for $100! It really isn't about the price at all. The guitar that we had in the store was just a piece of no name junk! If you shop around you can find very cool guitars for under $100.00!
