the 217 and 224 are really different. For one, the 224's bristles are much longer, and are tapered at the tip. It makes it an ideal brush for blending and doing any crease work. The 217 is great for applying one color all over. Both brushes are also good for concealer.
I use my 239 for basically everything...put on eyeshadow, highlight, lower lash line and crease! I also use my 222 and 219 for crease/highlight/lower lash line/eyeliner... but, i can do all that with the 239! AMAZING BRUSH
I bought the 231 because of you and I love it. I use it as an eyeliner brush and I get a perfect result every time even tough I haven't practiced much :-) So thank you for posting.

there are regular mac stores, then there are mac pro stores. check their website to find where the nearest one located to you is. There aren't too many of them
I don't like the 239 for eyeshadow as well. It's so dense that it sheers the eyeshadow and I find that I really have to pack the color on to get the full pigment. I love it for concealer though. And I also love the 217 for concealer, it does shade better than the 239.

Both of those brushes are made with goat hair, but they are cleaned and processed so much that I seriously doubt it would give you an issue, especially considering how small they all. You may want to go into a mac store and just try using them on your arm or something for a few minutes to see if you react. I hope that helps!

you can put some clear nail polish on it every time you clean them (don't forget to clean the handle too!). I've not been using this tip cause I don't have a lot of mac brushes so i know what number they are, but i so a beauty guru do that. Hope it's useful and that it'll work! :)

It's so thick that when I use it for eyeshadow on the lid a ton gets trapped in the bristles instead of deposited on my eye. Maybe I shouldn't be using it for packing on color? The 194 brush is a concealer brush. Yes, the 316 brush is a lip brush, you can also use it for gel liner :))

I don't like the 239 for eyeshadow as well. It's so dense that it sheers the eyeshadow and I find that I really have to pack the color on to get the full pigment. I love it for concealer though. And I also love the 217 for concealer, it does shade better than the 239.

the 217 is a great blending brush, it blends flawlessly so i don't know what you are talking about...

use a 109 for fuller coverage, a 187 for less coverage
I use the 168 for blush and 130 for liquid foundation, saw some comments about using 168 for liquid foundation I wonder how that would work

To be honest, I LOVE the real techniques expert face brush for foundation. But if you're hell bent on using a mac one, I love the 168 for foundation

Yeah totally, the must haves for me are the 242, 252, 224, 217, 286, 219, 213, and 266. I honestly don't think 10 is necessary.
Various farms, they don't own them. They only shave them. None of the animals are hurt in the process.
