Hi Shane, could you please discuss curved AT screens in the next episode? Thank you.
Matt mentioned building the false wall with aluminum extrusions. I can verify that these are very handy. I just built a 120” screen with motorized masking panels using 8020 (brand name) aluminum extrusions for orders of magnitude less money than an equivalent Seymour masking screen costs. I did use Seymour UF screen material and was able to spline it into the channels of the extrusions. I used Seymour Fideleo velvet for the masking and to cover the frame. I built the frame out of 4x4 aluminum angle sections. It’s built like a tank. It uses Somfy motors which I control with a remote. It’s pretty cool.
Thanks you Shane and Matt, love this series, there are a lot of small clever things which brings the value.
One question: what about curved AT screen? Could you discuss it in the next episode? When you go with extreme viewing angles it seems viable..
Hey Shane!
Went to your channel can't see the part 1 and 2 on your videos list not even in Playlist. Even tried Poes's channel. Where the heck are the 1 and 2. Didn't even see the link to those on this video. Please send them as a reply to this one
This vid was very timely! I have the R5i for LCR and was debating on not using baffle walls and instead just use aluminum T-slot extrusions I had on hand for directional mounting (and Rockwool surrounding). How big do baffles around each speaker need to be to not lose the room gain? Or do I need to build out the entire wall behind the screen?
If you lose a foot on half your theater length, is it better to have the wider half for a bigger screen or better to give the extra width to have the side surrounds further apart and fit more seats? Any major reqsons to go one way over the other?
I'm into diecast sports cars and have them displayed in the front of my HT wall. So I can't use a fixed framed screen. When my screen rolls up it reveals the displayed cars behind it. Besides I like the look of exposed front speakers. I mean if you have a lovely set of speakers why hide them behind the screen right?
Acoustics.
i could only hear shane in this video
Speaker diapers 🤘
I like my speakers ugly and obtrusive. Out in the open and exposed.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I walked behind commercial cinema screens. Those things are UGLY but they sound like Jesus!😱
Lol. Give me some ugly obtrusive speakers out in the open and a divorce please!😂
