I’m really enjoying this series for the built of your HT.
Wanna share 3 reasons I went with 2:35 non transparent:
1-having same size room and only one row of seating, and according to Dolby, from my seating area of 16 feet I needed a minimum of 13 feet between left and right speakers to reach the minimum 22deg. So they are placed outside of the screen.
2- with only the center speaker left to go behind the screen, I decided to put it right under the thin frame of the screen, so the narrow height of the 2:35 made it ok at this position, but would be too low if had chosen 16/9. Also not a big fan of the texture of those transparent screen materials.
3- having a lower ceiling then yours at 8ft and a fan of natural gain white screen, the 16/9 created a lot more light reflections then the 2:35 as it was closer to the ceiling. Even with the 2:35 , I had to add some treatments to the walls reflecting the screen light. Believe me, dark paint is not enough. And 16/9 150” lights the room up like you won’t believe. It’s huge

Shane, sounds like you want a 16x9 screen with a top and bottom masking solution. That scope screen he showed with the side masking, he said that they also do it with a 16x9 with top and bottom masking, so that's probably what you would want for your scenario for IMAX movies.

I owned a Screen innovation Slate grey 1.2 110” screen (I paid $2700) with a Sony 6000 projector and the SI screen was the worst screen I have ever used. It was full of sparkle and unwatchable. I switched it out for a $300 120” silver ticket screen of amazing and the $300 is much better with no sparkly. I bought both the white and grey silver ticket and ended up using the white after demoing both.

Even at my local cinema they have a big problem with sparkle from their new laser projector + high gain screen setup, which it's unwatchable 😞
I don't understand cinemas installing screens that doesn't work...
