i think i've read this book series about 17 times now for these videos, took a while to make. Anyways, planning on continuing this style of focusing on the negatives of characters, games, etc so look forward to that. Also, did anyone notice my art style getting progressively worse through the video, it was intentional, wonder if anyone noticed.

As a child, I felt sorry for Greg, but now as an adult, I definitely see him as a huge red flag. In the 14th book, Greg crushes on this girl since elementary yet doesn’t seem to make an attempt at starting a conversation with her until they are paired up for lab project. Greg then confesses to her that he had a crush on her since he was young, hoping she’d feel the same. Instead, the girl went straight to the teacher and have Greg be paired with another kid. I felt bad for Greg when I first read that scene, but now? Not so much…

I mean, given that all we know is that he said “Hey so I had a crush on you when I was young”, her going to the teacher is ludicrous, but given Greg as a person, I wouldn’t be surprised if his recollection of the event was dialed down *significantly*
That scene without any context makes me feel bad for him. If you forget everything else that happens, all you see is a kid who confesses his crush and the other person go's to tell the teacher. Assuming this girl has no knowledge of greg being creepy, she only did that to be a douche. I hate people like that, who are old enough to have a conversation without getting their parents or the teacher involved but don't.
I was so relieved because thank god she got out of that situation, Greg seems like a creep.

The thing that always made me uncomfortable even as a kid is how many times he tries to hit on much older women. Like, people who are clearly too old for him. Heather being stated to be close to college, and his dentist clearly being an adult compared to him. Does he not ever think there could be some uncomfortable power dynamics going on?

What you didn't mention in this video was that The Third Wheel was another good example of Greg being a simp. In that book, he kept trying to find girls to ask out to the Valentine's Day dance, some of whom he barely even knew. On the night of the dance, he used Rowley to get closer to a girl named Abigail because she didn't have her previous date to go with. Greg did whatever he possibly could to prove himself and impress her while pushing Rowley to the side, and whenever Rowley made Abigail laugh, Greg tried to shut that down instantly. Eventually, at the end of the book, Greg didn't hook up with Abigail, but Rowley did, because he took some time to get to know her. That's why the book is called "The Third Wheel". Even though Greg tried whatever he could to get Abigail to like him, he just ended up being a third wheel instead while she became a couple with Rowley.
You also forgot to mention that Abigail literally used Rowley to get her ex-boyfriend jealous and that she was just faking her good time with him.

Y'know, something interesting about the Diary of a Wimpy Kid character design is that Greg always draws the girls he has a crush on in a very similar way to how he draws himself. A great example would be Nathasha (the girl he wrote a love poem for), whom is nearly identical to Greg, minus her hairstyle. I like to think this was a display of Greg's narcissism. He projects himself onto the people he finds attractive, because he thinks that he's a perfect specimen above all others. And that's incredibly fitting for how we know Greg as a character.

In it, the producers describe how they initially ran into a problem when casting the female middle school students, because they all look the same minus their hair, in contrast to boys who are all vastly different in their appearance. Greg says that Rodrick told him that camouflage would prevent him being spotted and Greg dressed in camouflage to sneak into a women's locker room. He mentioned that he got banned from the pool the rest of the summer.
