In this webinar, you will learn the basics of drones and how to map with them using photogrammetry techniques. Based on 10 years of experience, Dr. Patrick Ribeiro shares some fundamental aspects to consider when carrying out a mapping mission of forest landscapes.
The session took place the 8th of July 2021 and was carried out in collaboration with One Tree Planted.
- ABOUT THE PRESENTER -
Dr. Patrick Ribeiro is co-founder and CEO of OpenForests. He has been responsible for the development of drone-based forestry and conservation applications, as well as the execution of mapping missions for 10 years in countries such as Germany, Portugal, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Suriname, and Indonesia. He is currently responsible for the development of the explorer.land, where drone imagery plays an important role. Patrick holds a PhD. in Physics.

- ABOUT THE MODERATOR -
Ross Bernet is the Forestry and Monitoring Specialist at One Tree Planted. He got his start in restoration ecology in 2011 when he was the program manager for a Haitian agroforestry NGO. Since then, he received his Master’s degree in environmental management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental studies. He is passionate about the intersection of Nature and Technology.

Hello which software was used for the detecting of individual trees at 1:05:27 ?
Here’s another tip, if you are mapping a mountain if possible start at the top and end your mission at the base to maximise your area coverage
