Mike’s is not junk. I prefer Modern probably thru intergenerational inertia as I’m 3rd generation Bostonian from Margaret Street in the North End. Modern was always the go-to for our family. Bova’s for bread & Modern for pastries & cakes. I will surrender to Mikes a particular cannoli. The Florentine cannoli @ Mike’s is superb and NOT available @ Modern. It would be too much power in one place if Modern had it!

I was chalking our preference of Mike's up to us not having a refined cannoli palate haha, but it is the florentine cannoli that we love so much, it is truly out of this world!!! I love that 😂 "too much power in one place" for sure. Definitely adding Bova's to the list to check next time we're in Boston too! Thank you!
Modern Pastry has more of a pastry selection and has tables and espresso, Mikes cannoli are very good both are very good. Both on Hanover Street Boston's North End.
The entire North End hates the cannoli shop, you should put a different picture as your thumbnail. The famous cannoli place in the North End buys their shells from sysco

Mike’s! We loved regular Mike’s Pastry cannolis with the classic ricotta cheese filling & later got the florentine ones that were also incredible!
