the anti-drop of sugar rush ride made a lot of sense if you read the lyrics, they tell the story also act it out. it's the first encounter of sweet devil temptation so it sounds happy at first, but then the chorus is you take/got the temptation, so it's kind of you got the devil side on you. rush-ush-ush part is the the adrenaline of that sugar rush. everything made a lot of sense so i love srr so much.

I like it! I actually disagree with WR and think it's extremely fitting with the song. I feel like the way that it doesn't give that typical satisfaction of a drop fits with the vibe of the song.

as for txt, I MEAN, i can’t tell yall what you have or don’t have to expect from a song, but i think that people who say they felt underwhelmed by the anti-drop are kinda missing the point a little bit. i personally love the aesthetic choice. it’s not overly sexy, not overly badass. they’re literally talking about the sneaking sly devil. it has to be seductive, but quiet, not too flashy, the exact opposite of the rest of the song, which is perfectly executed. i can’t blame you though, it’s a chaotic song, definitely not easy to listen to. it took me some listens to appreciate this kind of stuff, but i love it now. sugar rush ride didn’t have to just “sound good” to be a successfully produced song. the melody and beat needed to fit the concept of temptation and a sugar rush, with its ups and downs, and it does that amazingly. it’s definitely one of txt’s riskiest projects, but i personally appreciate it a lot.

i have to say that sugar rush ride is actually one of my favorite title tracks by txt. i for my part loved the anti drop, it took me so off guard but i got used to it quickly. this whole comeback is honestly so fucking good i‘m so relieved i fell back in love with their sound after gbgb was such a miss for me (and i grew tired of loser lover pretty fast, i skip it nowadays lmao). this ep has been on repeat for days i love it so much. i was prepared for this comeback to be like the last and that i wouldn’t like it, and i’m so glad i’ve been proven wrong. maybe this is just my relief talking and i like it more than i should (or would) but idc. thx for listening to my tedtalk
SAMEE after the disappointment that gbgb was i, as a tcc: freeze moa, was fully yanked back on the train and am very very very satisfied. i had high expectations, which worried me, but somehow i was NOT let down. its just a perfect combeack and manages to be so txt and still contribute to the storyline. so as a moa, i can say ive been fed well.

The anti drop of Sugar Rush Ride is imo exactly what it needed actually 🥲 I think it works really well especially with the lyrics of the song and the whole concept of the album- it sounds alluring while the verses and pre-chorus are very fun and hype sounding, almost like Eternally (from TDC: Eternity) it works as telling a story through the sound of the song rather than just the lyrics. Tbh it’s exactly what I would want; a fun and summery song with a dark plot twist. Then again I am a sucker for dark concepts in kpop 😭

I too felt the same way with sugar rush ride the first listen but on the 2nd listen I understood why that kind of anti drop is essential to the song, it's a song about temptation, being tempted by the devil that first appeared in Devil by the window, in the chorus the devil is whispering to them (the devil said) tempting them to go to a false reality and they are savoring that moment of pleasure and that's why they are asking for more. Temptation is a conceptual album, it tells a story from devil by the window to farewell neverland, I guess you can fully understand the songs if you understand the story of the album.

Beautiful Liar is one of the most addictive songs I've heard in a while. It's definitely clean like you said - from the vocals, to the raps, the instrumentals, to the structure. Truly some of the best from Monsta X. (I still can't understand how you think their tt's were on a decline, though, when the last three comebacks included Gambler, Rush Hour, and Love. If anything, they keep outdoing themselves. Besides, Beautiful Liar is very much the same aggresive masculine concept. Like, we got leather, chains, fire, whips, etc + a very hard hitting sound. If anything, Love was the tt where Monsta X went really experimental and showed us a more sensual, rather than agressive side.)

I had the same opinions as yours about sugar rush ride in the first few hours of listening but there was something about that song that just had me hooked on to it so much so i love the chorus now. i need help i can't listen to anything other than that album ever since the moment it came out like it's so amazing.
i gotta be honest, ateez’s style is not for me, like you’ll never catch me listening to only ateez. BUT every once in a while their music feels like an adrenaline shot. they’re the best at what they do and they have such a clear and distinct identity that it’s hard not to be touched by their music and performances, even if it doesn’t really fit your taste. atinys are lucky lol
they do have a distinct style for sure but somehow i've always been attracted to them as a group. i just think they're so charismatic and have so much personality that it's hard to ignore them. i've known about them since pretty much their debut but i've only recently dove into their discography and them as a group and ever since i just love them even more. their title tracks are great but can a lot of times be very "in your face" for some people. they have a lot of variety in their b-sides though.

That’s the one thing about Ateez, you can tell they put 100% into their music and they always find a way to grow artistically while never abandoning their sound. As an Atiny I can tell you I’ve never been disappointed with their album or comebacks. Ateez are known for their intense, loud, and bombastic title tracks. With Guerrilla their last comeback I can tell how it might be polarizing for some even as an Atiny, it shocked me a bit, but if there’s one thing that Ateez is good at, it’s using and experimenting with a music genre for a purpose, and with their storyline everything came together even more for me. Ateez have a top tier discography, it’s what got me into them, so if you’ve never listened to their b-sides I recommend you do that. They have b-sides for anyone and for literally every mood. Some of my favorite from them are, Dazzling Light, Take Me Home, Feeling like I do, Sunrise, Win, Mist, Promise, Cyberpunk, and The Ring. I’d say some of their b-side outdo some of their title tracks for me and are some of the best songs I’ve ever heard in Kpop.

I definitely see where you’re coming from for srr 🤩 the song was so great until the chorus and I started questioning everything from that point on. I genuinely didn’t expect it to be the chorus when we got a listen of that part in the teaser but we ended up with that. at first, I didn’t understand why it was the chorus but now after giving the song multiple listens I understand what hybe was trying to do with this song. the chorus just suddenly feels right. it’s sort of like how ur living a rather happy life (verses and pre-chorus) then the devil whispers to u and ur whole world seems as tho it’s on slow-mo (chorus), then, out of nowhere ur world is going in fast-forward as u hv given into the temptation (post-chorus). it just says a lot idk. the song has grown on me like a parasite and m in love with it atp (+ the album goddamn). they could’ve done better, of course they could’ve they’re tomorrow x together ffs, but they also did just right here. it was what was needed tbh. winterosy I highly recommend giving it a good few listens and giving it a good chance to grow on u. hopefully, it’ll do that and you’ll accept the song for being exactly what it was meant and needed to be.

I think if you watch the behind the scenes of the recording of OMG and Ditto you realize why you like the songs so much. There is so much attention to detail in the harmonizing and choice in notes, tone, pitch, etc. It's all very organic and pleasant to the ears and it's something that gets lost the you rely too much much on editing or you over direct your singers and don't let them get involved in the recording process.

i like that you're doing it this way! i'm only tuning in to songs that i know i'll like for sure and it's been working. by this time last year, i had listened to 75 new-to-me songs (including songs released before january) and my lowest rating was a 4.5. up til now this year, i've only listened to 14, with my lowest initial ranking being a 7.75. so obviously it's working for me and i don't care about "missing out" on songs that i won't feel like bumping on the daily.
with that being said, first number is my initial ranking and second is my ranking now:
sugar rush ride - 8.25 - 8.5
stamp on it - 8.5 - 8.5
halazia - 9.25 - 9.5
omg - 8.75 - 9.25
I feel like they perfectly portrayed what a sugar rush feels with the song. The highs and the lows that take place on the ride. How it starts happy and then you crash and then crave for more in a cycle. I really enjoyed the musicality, it felt almost theatrical in the way that name matches the sound of the song.
Cignature was so good with nun nu nan na and assa, but i have to say that even though they don't release bad music, it's just so basic imo. Boyfriend was good, and I love me an r&b track but it lacked something that would get me coming back. For me yena did that r&b track idea perfectly, because it's groovy and has a catchy chorus with emotion, but boyfriend seems kind of emotionless to me. Anyway that's my rant i hope cignature get something more outside the box like their debut era

I personally feel like just NewJeans and their storylines in their M/V should make them win every era from now, like it literally went from Cute and chill Y2k with a refreshing sound, now in their music videos it tells stories of the K-pop industry, like 'Ditto' tells the story of K-pop fans, and 'OMG' the story of K-pop idol's, and not many if not any K-pop artists really tell stories through their music vids, obviously u got stuff like I#Doll but NwJns still being rookies and it hasn't even been a yr since their debut, and they still have such an influence. I honestly think their the future of K-pop and definitely deserve to be the 4th gen leaders.

Oh man, i am %100 with you on beautiful liar. I also think they've been on a steady decline since follow although fatal love had my favorite b sides since the connect album, but yeah. I liked gambler but ever since then, I was really just not a fan of them, didn't watch their stages, and didn't even know that they were dropping a song which is a huge deal for me, since i was actually a monbebe. Hearing the intro of the song, at the moment i just knew something had changed. The guitar, the drop, everyone's voices, the rap parts... The song is sooooo addictive, and i usually don't like the integration of rock to kpop songs, i think most groups just fumble the bag and i think rock as a genre feels too raw in an industry that is perfected to a T, so most of the time it just feels ingenuine when i hear a song with rock parts but idk monsta x i think nailed the concept, the song wasn't overwhelming or repetitive, and it was just so out of monsta x's normal song structure i was shocked: no kihyun high note? no back and forth between changkyun and jooheon? you can't even call this one construction music but it still felt very authentic to monsta x. And the amount of improvement from hyungwon and minhyuk is truly shocking, i mean yeah minhyuk was a long time coming but hyungwon was just. Wow. My only complaint is that i think some of the bsides are weak compared to their other releases(crescendo goes crazy tho) and god, i fucking wish shownu was here. He would do so well, i can already hear which parts he'd take in the song.... I need him back right now hadn't he served enough????
I think sm's big problem is all groups sound like a mixture of nct and aespa, except red velvet, and even those groups don't get good songs most of the time.
About sugar rush ride, i don't have any problem with the anti drop, the "sugar rush rush" bothers me so much that i genuinely couldn't go through the song without cringing the first time, but after a few listens it's a song that forces you to loop because verses are solid and that last chorus is such a banger, i get the concept needed the anti drop and i get that if the whole chorus sounded like the last chorus it would get boring and repetitive but i wish bighit committed to the summer dance track in the middle of the winter, because txt is just great at dance tracks. The album is solid, i don't like happy fools but devil by the window is joining her sister eternally and frost in the museum of god tier concept songs, and farewell neverland is honestly one of the best slow/melancholic songs i've heard in kpop, ever.

I definitly agree with you on Sugar Rush Ride. I dont think the Antidrop was that bad but I don't think it was necessary. The Verses and the pre-chorus really gave me Blue Hours Vibes (and I freaking love that Song) So I don't really get why they added the Antidrop. But since the Album was really good I liked the Comeback Overall.

About the other songs:
I can see why someone would consider moonlight sunrise boring, but it's a bop! The chorus is an earworm, and idk if it is just me but it reminds me of feel special, one of my favorite titles from them. But yeah, one thing for sure is that they can do better. 8.5/10
Txt's sugar rush ride, the verses are really good. But i agree with winterosy that the anti drop could have been done better. I don't dislike it, but i don't love it either. The final chorus is good, though. I prefer this over good boy gone bad, but run away and love song and can't you see me and blue hour are much better imo. 7.2/10
Got the beat's stamp on it is so good. The chorus is very addicting, and the baby baby baby part elevates the song even more! 9.6/10 song, but i just hope sm remembers that aespa exists. Aespa full album when? And iirc, was got (girls on top) supposed to be a rotational group?
Yena's love war is actually my favorite song from her (even though i love smartphone), i think this style fits her more than her previous tracks, but i can't wait to see what she does next! About the song itself, yena vocals are serving once again, and her and be'o' voices sound so good together. And be'o's rap in here is so good. Another 10/10 imo

I can totally understand your feeling with New Jeans OMG, cause I have this one friend who's also a Kpop fan but he doesn't seem to like New Jeans at first, so I encouraged him to listen to them, and so later on he loved Attention and Hype Boy but claimed that will be the only songs he'll love cause apparently he doesn't like OMG because it was too 'bland' for him (Keep in mind his taste in music are songs like "Dice" from NMIXX, so I understood it might have been a bit toned down for him compared to the usual songs he likes). But then after a few listens to it, the following week, that's the only song he plays and he keeps on singing it now too😂 the power of New Jeans😌 no one can deny they have good music

Btw the unexpected group of this month was MAVE for me. They are looking sooo fine. I wasnt expecting this much quality from them considering no one was giving attention to them but Pandora is such an addicting song. 😭

Same! I’m a little disappointed when I see people’s reactions to it but I also understand where they’re coming from. Even when the second trailer dropped I was a little disappointed and felt I had been tricked too. I thought it was would be a sweet, soft song. After listening to it, it really grew on me. I honestly can’t get it enough of it, highkey addicting. 😅

For me im obsessed with newjeans music for 2 weeks then forget about it. Shooting star i was obssed with for 2 weeks too, but the difference is i came back to it lol.
Jurias high motes at the end r just too good. The bridge and chorus r just too good. Theres a feeling of glee and excitement that always hits me in the last section of the song. Its modernised r&b done right, which i wish newjeans would adopt.
Like u said, newjeans music is basic but catchy. They don't modernise or change anything, but it still slaps bc its an ear worm.
Theyre music reminds me of the type of music thay gets auper popular on tiktok. Its that one part that EVERYONE and their mum knows and uses (the chorus of OMG). Its even more apparent that thats their strategy with the way their music videos are divided; theres a section for trying out their "dance challenge". Even the new track super shy has it.
I wish theyd have more unique endings like XG shoting star with key chages and more impressive vocals. But theure voices r soothing and pure so they do the job well for their type of songs - laid back ear worms.
I'd give shooting star a 9/10, left right a 7/10 (the production was lazy, no chord or hey changes the whole song and they deserved a better beat), OMG a 8.4/10 (I need more elevated vocals and a better bridge and ending but good god is that song a bop), and ditto a 7/10 (I found it lackluster after a few listens
