Have you always wanted to make your fills feel less boring and more improvised and creative? Well, incorporating your kick drum into your fills is a great way to start doing this if you want to nail fills with that confident, joyful fearlessness that sets the greatest drummers apart from the rest.
But I get it! It’s tough to coordinate your right foot well enough with your hands to actually smoothly pull off fills like this… so that you don’t train wreck and feel like a “less-than” musician as a result.
So today we’re solving all this! I’m giving you 3 steps to practice right now that will get you playing linear-style fills between your hands and right foot, which will even help you out with “Bonham Triplets.” YOU CAN DO THIS!
Check out these additional fill lessons to go a little further with this…

Your “You can do this” approach is a glaring indication that you are a teacher that gets it. Stepping back into the shoes of the learner is essential for success, not only for the student, but also for the teacher. Patience and empathy on part of the teacher, are so very important for learning to take place. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I've been incoprprating my kicks into my fills for 30 years. So I'm GLAD that you've got a video out there showing new drummers the insane power of adding kick to a fill.
I'll probably end up making a comment like this on all of your videos but - excellent teacher - excellent drummer - totally appreciate you, thanks
So many mind blowing moments on this video! Thanks!
You were born to teach drums. Excellent teacher.

Thumps up for Stephen and greetings from Switzerland, Riccardo
Great tips and lessons. I will used all of these patterns. Great job and I appreciate your explanation on how to do it correctly.
Great job on teaching incorporating the foot That was always one of the struggles for me when I 1st started drumming and into my drumming . Another struggle I used to have not too very long ago was letting the song move my groove. I fine when I work hard to keep the groove solid and my foot constant it helps me with my fills as well.
I sincerely appreciate your teaching style. Thank you so much!!!
Super lesson Stephen , Loved it . Now going to do lots of work on bass drum fills starting with my favorite The Paradiddle . All the best from Adelaide 👍
Great video
I have been following you for a few months and thank you for your approach to low stress lessons.
The worship music input around 27:25 was really helpful to hear!
Great video Stephen with lots of useful tips. This will be nice to incorporate into my morning practice (currently playing with train beats). Love it :-)
You are so incredibly good at your drums and your kit sounds so amazing. Ugh. Love your content ❤️
Epic
yesss
Hey Stephen, I have a question, you can make video off this idea. No one is basically showing this. I recently bought electric drum and the spacing between the drums and cymbals is not quite right. I play with acoustic so know when it feels wrong. So you can do tutorial showing the best space between the drums and even the bass drum. I found that my bass drum was too forward and I had to move my stool much further which made it hard to reach them.
Great video! I'm lefty amateur drummer, and my legs just don't wanna follow my brains 😅 I hope this exercise helps🤞
It will!
I was watching your video on adding the kickdrum to any fill and i had a question. Say you are using 4 bars of RLK, do you add an extra kick on the last bar with a crash or just crash on the last k? Thank you.
Sorry for replying so late after this video was posted.
Question PDP Mainstage or Centerstage?? To purchase
slow is smooth. smooth is fast

Your channel is great and I've watched lots and lots of your videos but let me give you some (hopefully) constructive feedback:
1 - You have a great community of subscribers (176K at the time of this comment) who engage with your content and ask follow up question but you never ever reply. Your engagement with your followers is ZERO.
2 - Your videos are getting waaaay too long man. In this day and age very few people have 30 mins to spend on watching one single video on UA-cam. I often watch your videos when I'm on my lunch break at work but I stopped because I don't want to give away half of my lunch break to one UA-cam video. Or if I'm at home it's such a long commitment to watch a 30 min video when it comes to UA-cam. In my opinion you should keep it around the 10 mins mark and you'll be flying.
30 min is a hell of a commitment eh?
The videos are fine. Some of us are sitting behind a kit while we watch. How could I play along on my lunch break at work? If you want short videos to watch while you are on smoko there are thousands. Let the teacher teach.
Go pay a teacher offline and you will get what you want.
