There is clearly both Norse and Celtic influence in Aurora's music. All those thrills and yodels she does to perfection is part of that. A thousand years ago Aurora was standing in the hills of Norway, calling the herd home with her angel voice. She truly is one of a kind. We are very proud of our Queen here in Norway. Love from Norway. Edit: Lovely reaction. Oh, and subbed of course.
Stunning performance. Also different version then on album and there is also a Remix version (which was first before the album). All 3 versions are amazing, but I prefer this live version the most. I also like this short piano part. Incredible. For sure this song in all 3 versions has folk music influences. Live version is strip down, in album version also some "medieval tavern" vibes in instrumental part, Remix has also ambient sound of nature :).
music is an universal language. in the medieval times there was a big cultural exchange between orient and occident. so, old european folk music might have an oriental flavor. nevertheless, the message is important. thanks for your reaction, i really haven't heard a version of this song i don't like, they are all good.
Very nice reaction again🥰 She sings in a nordic style, and this song gives me medieval vibes😍 Aurora has so many great songs and performances, so much to choose from❤️ “The Seed” live at Haik A cry for mother earth, it’s an important song to her “Murder Song (5,4,3,2 ,1)” live at the Nobel Peace prize concert 2015 (very early in her career)
As Brian Eno said in an interview: The Norwegian singer Aurora, who's one of the most extraordinary people i've met. Absolutely original human being. You just think, who designed her ? She is ... she's such a oneoff wonderful person. ua-cam.com/video/JcsWAjFXFOo/v-deo.html
There could be no more perfect an ending, seeing the sun rise in the hour of the dawn as the birds herald her arrival. Aurora comes gliding across the sky ahead of the celestial orb. See her red dress rise! Wow that struck me so profoundly!
I take this song so much differently than many people do. my soul doesnt have a king because it has a queen. see here her video. the room is green. her dress is green. she places her hand at her heart. her energy work is center from the heart ray - you can see her weaving the threads. her shriek pierces the soul causing even your bones to reverberate. there is something so special about her and I wont say she is LITERALLY aurora/eos. but she knows the symbols and is definitely connected to the energy of Eos. I also sense Gaia in her energy spectrum as well.
beautiful reaction ! Aurora is no unique with her voice, music and performances, and no matter if it's songs like this or an upbeat dance track, she always manages to evoke intense emotions. _Artist_ doesn't even come close to what she is.
Please check out Aurora's acoustic version of YOUR BLOOD (released thus far exclusively in Japan): ua-cam.com/video/qWwqGUAkTh8/v-deo.html . This version is such an immersive journey. Her piano playing links together elements of the overarching theme, referencing Debussy, which becomes quite clear near the end. Her vocals are exquisite, and at the end she hits some amazingly high whistle notes in a way that's actually calming rather than explosive.
You said middle Eastern? Probably not but she is very concerned about the war in Palestine so maybe a nod? Tribal music generally stems from similar roots? Celtic, Nordic have a lot of mixed history. What you are missing when worrying about this is the emotional intensity of each and every performance by this jewel? Watch a little more closely?
Thank you. It's hard to catch everything the first listen/watch. The inflections from anyone always catch my attention... they affect me to my core. I do notice her mannerisms... especially the head and hands. She truly is an amazing artist. Appreciate the feedback, very much!
Yes, this performance is one of my top tier favorites, Aurora is just performance art, is she not? Thanks, maybe another live Vevo same day, different song, Some Type of Skin, her personality shines even more brightly in it. Thanks.
The Vikings sailed down the rivers of what is now Russia and Ukraine, and into the Black Sea to Constantinople, later to become Istanbul under the Ottoman Turks. There was cultural exchange in both directions. So you a correct to hear a Middle Eastern flavour in this song.
There's nothing that sounds like an idiot to me! You're already catching on to how her styles can change but she masters them. She even does club/rave on her newest album, dance beats, even a slow tango with Nordic vocal runs which actually matched incredibly well. Her ability to captivate at the beginning to draw you in is like entering her world where you're both completely free and she's singing right to you. Very powerful music from one of the most beautiful souls.
Some of what she is doing, what you call 'etnic' is mountain callings. Women would sing the cows or goats home to feed in the morning, by using songs and that's what you are hearing a version of. It travels a long way. And still is a Scandinavian thing.
If you have a listen to a singer like Mari Boine (who is Sámi), you'll quickly pick up that most of the traditional styles Aurora uses are from the northern countries ua-cam.com/video/kprl0CECykA/v-deo.htmlsi=EX_YGUtyBnwvMgfl. Also, maybe have a listen to Otyken who use their Siberian turkic instruments and singing styles to make pop music.
I have "Eagle Brother" on my list for Mari Boine but are there any other specific songs I should add? How about a starting song for Otyken? I would love to hear more of that for sure! Thank you!
@@TheRealMommaOG For Otyken, you could try Legend, Belief, Chukotka, Storm and Pulse. It's S-Pop! Lots of animal and human noises swapping around during their songs! Like in Belief, there is a rhythm that gradually turns into a dog bark, and quite alot of screeches the lead singer makes are bird calls. I don't know much more by Mari Boine at the moment- still investigating.
@@danielparrott8339 THank you. I've noted all of those. Dog bark and bird calls!? Sounds interesting for sure. I'll start with the one Mari song I have and I'm sure people will start suggesting stuff then. Thanks again.
My 3 Songs I'd enjoy if you reacted too... hmmm let me think... Theme: beautiful songs from different genres - The Sorrowed Man by Nevermore ua-cam.com/video/lK_f-wpyPwA/v-deo.html > A calmer, kind of existential song by a very heavy metal band that I absolutely love. -The Sacred by Yaima ua-cam.com/video/-G1GjgmN48k/v-deo.html > One of the most beautiful songs by a band of hundreds of them. The celebration of Sacred. -Exist for Love by Aurora ua-cam.com/video/7YDkrJaiCrw/v-deo.html >When I watch this video, I feel so warm like Aurora is talking to me personally as a man, and its so endearing I cry.
I agre with the Middle East vibes on the intro but the ending was typical Norwegian (kulokk). Calling in the cows. Aurora takes inspirasjon from diffrent kind of folk music. Another Norwegian Band you will love is Kalandra. They do the same thing , mixing Celtic , Persian and Norwegian Folk. Check out their song Slow motion live at Gildehallen .You will love it. It's not kulokk, she's not calling in the cows. If you need to generalize you can call it just "lokk" or "kauking or "hujing" or several other good names. If we were to be specific, "hulderlokk" would perhaps be the closest in topical context, but that would still be a little confusing due to form. Using just the term "lokk", in the specific sense (melodies to lure/entice), might be the most accurate in this case, but it may still be confusing since it's often used in the general sense (that style of "singing"). "Kulokk" is just annoyingly imprecise, though, I can't not say something about it.
I've been in a lot of pain the last two months. Cervical spinal stenosis and a herniated disk. I will be having surgery sometime after my trip to see my mom in mid September. Until then, I have to get a nerve block and rely on gabapentin, which is making me pretty tired. I'm doing ok though. Every day I open my eyes is a good day. 💜
You will find that folk music have much of the same tunes, with some variations ( dont listen to the " Viking " stupidity - viking is a verb not a people). I have to say I don’t like the “prettified” picture of AURORA on your video, this is gilding the lily: She is beautiful as she is… no need to improve on perfection. She chooses not to use much makeup, I think we should respect her artistic integrity.
I can completely respect that. I run some of the thumbnail photos through a program that "cartoonizes" them but I've been holding back on doing that the last few videos I've done and have yet to upload. I wasn't trying to make her more pretty as that is impossible - it was just an artistic choice I made that, over time, hasn't felt quite right in my gut. Thank you for saying something about it and helping confirm my instincts. I appreciate the feedback, very much.
I believe this is a song in protest to children being killed in war. Palestine, Israel, Ukraine. So it's not surprising that she would use a Middle Eastern sound in it. Glad you enjoyed this incredible song.
All Aurora's songs are different and every performance a new arrangement. For me this tops the album version, which I also love.
Mother Nature sings this
Aurora has been calling out loud for a cease fire in Palestine there's powerful meaning in this song
From the first time I saw her perform when she was 18 I knew that she is the most dynamic musical artist I've ever seen, and I'm pushing 70 years old.
There is clearly both Norse and Celtic influence in Aurora's music. All those thrills and yodels she does to perfection is part of that. Aurora is old. She encompasses all parts of the world. That's my opinion.
She could definitely do a soundtrack to a movie.😊

Aurora often mimics other countries musical styles. Cure for me always struck me as a bit kpop. What ever she does, she makes her own.
I believe that Aurora is the most talented artist overall than anyone else I have ever seen in my 56 years on this rock.
It sounds Middle Eastern to me, as well. And, as others have said, of the three versions released, this one is the coolest, imo.
