  • In this video we will be learning about civil structural engineering in Taipei 101. The structural design and analysis behind Taipei 101 are extra ordinary. We will talk about the Tuned mass damper (TMD) used for building during typhoons. We will also see how the building resists the lateral forces of wind and earthquakes by super columns, outriggers, belt trusses and braced core. Pile foundation used in Taipei 101 is also demonstrated. Taipei 101 will be used as a case study for long time for future buildings due to its remarkable engineering and construction.

    I love your content! I was exactly looking for a video explaining Taipei 101. Please keep it up!!! I also love that you have subtitle. But maybe you could try to sound more engaged so that it is easier to listen to.

      Thanks for your comment Travis. This video was made when I was unwell(corona) so narration is lousy. Expect a better quality and neutral english accent in future videos :)

    • @StructuresExplained

      Hi, TMD can be modelled in Etabs using spring mass system with damping. You can google "tmd in etabs" and find literature.

    at 9:34 , what does two stories deep when you talk about the belt trusses?

    • @StructuresExplained
      @StructuresExplained  Рік тому

      It means that the belt truss is double level in height, for example level 8 and 9
