Thank you so much for this video! I rolled a drow cultist who's goal is to become a priestess of Lolth. So glad I found this info so my DM can work it into the campeign :)
You're welcome, and that's awesome to hear! I'm such a sucker for dark elves, but with characters such as Drizzt and Jarlaxle it's kind of hard not to be right?? Would absolutely love to hear about your progression. If you happen to think of this during your downtime please chime back in and let us know how it's going!
@@GuidingBoltGaming will do! This is LunaSDominni lol i broke my phone and my login stuff with it :/ so I had to make a new one till I can get it fixed. But yeah I sent this to my DM and he's gunna work it into our next session :D I'm very excited. It's the first time I've played a character with so much to lose!
That's super cool to hear (the part about your DM working in the tests, not the phone part...that's a bummer)! Remember, the first test is supposedly the hardest. All your PC has to do is convince Lolth that you're worthy, then it's all smooth sailing from there right? ;) Your PC will certainly have their work cut out for them. I'm both nervous and excited for you! Thanks for stopping back, hope you get the phone working.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
Great video I loved that article in Dungeon. I think it is a shame they did not go over the loyalty test that male drow mages are subjected to though it is not a regular test but are done to all male mages who are Lolthites at around 6 level to make sure they have no desire to get uppity. Also eight legged creepy crawlers are cute.
Interesting, I haven't come across that yet.. So I totally agree it would have been awesome if they included it in the article! Any chance you remember the source, I would like to give it a read and add it to the memory banks. As far as cute creepy crawlers...eesh on pretty much everything except a tarantula and Lucas. ;)
@@GuidingBoltGaming I have read about it in several sources the only two sources that come to mind right now is 2 ed Drow of the Underdark book as in the book for 2 end not the second edition of the book itself which is for 3 ed, though I believe it is mentioned there as well. Also it is mentioned in the War of the Spider Queen novels where Pharaun remembers being kidnapped for his test of loyalty. Well jumping spiders are adorable and tarantulas are fascinating beings. I find spiders adorable. ;)
im very excited to work these into my campaign, we have a drow cleric of lolth. though i will probably make it so completing each test does have some sort of reward, and failure simply results in loss of divine magic from lolth.
Dident know about the Lolth's drider brood mother. If im playing a female lolth sworn drow i whould be curies about ether the drider or the brood mother and i think i whould "fail" intentionally unless thats an option if you can ask Lolth to turn you into a brood mother, idk she seams afk all the time from what iv learned lol. But i whould probebly want my female lolth sworn drow to be a brood mother, whould be interesting, that or a drider.
That all depends on how dastardly you want to be! But yes, I would make it the thing they just gained or somehow related to it. Even though they may not want to give it up, the sacrifice is better than the alternative. ;)
Hi drow wizard, do you like your spellbook? Do you love your spellbook? To bad Lolth demand you sacrifice it. Yes you have to sacrifice the item itself.
3 minutes in , .. " cough, cough, " .. there is no such thing as a level one drow. They teach their children boxing in blood fights with goblins and take bets on how long it takes for a child to cord strangle kobolds and larger species to death. Lowest level drow, as children should be regarded as 3rd-level rogues then train in the fighter class. 3rd-level wizards are just .. hobbyists .
Loved this. Gonna alter it though. I'm building a campaign where the party are drow nobles of a minor drow house. I'm thinking use it as tests for the house.
I'm thinking keep it mostly as is. Dm will control matron mother. She is inexperienced. So the tests will be for her ie the whole house. Forcing the party to handle them lol
I can't think of any instance in the Forgotten Realms books where there is mention of a male priest, so I would agree it's pretty much purely matriarchal. So if you're playing an adventure based on FR literature you likely wouldn't have a male priest to progress through the tests. But if you're the DM you can do whatever you want, and if you're the player you can always beg your DM. ;)
They do exist, but are EXTREMELY rare. Two of the FR novels have a drow priest of Lolth called Rai'gy Bondalek, who was the high priest of Ched NASA's before he was listed in a coup
@@CameoAfro Awesome, thanks for pointing this out! It kind of rings a bell now that you mention it, but it's been forever since I've read the books. I did a quick Google search for anyone interested and it looks like these are the two books you're pointing out: 1. The Silent Blade 2. Servant of the Shard
Only in other drow religions and sub-churches of minor male gods who serve Lolth. "The church of Selvetarm, followers of the drow god of drow warriors, were mostly warriors or guards who constantly honed their fighting skills and reveled in battle. Due to its emphasis on individual battle prowess instead of strategy, adhering to this faith blocked a drow from obtaining high positions in the military.[182] Calling out to the Spider That Waits was mostly done by lower-class drow.[66] Selvetarm wasn't recognized as a god by most of his followers, who worshiped him as a powerful servant of Lolth (the only form of veneration of this deity that was accepted in the mainstream drow society). Venerating him as an individual deity wasn't tolerated within Lolthite settlements" His male priests are basically priests of Lolth by proxy.
"...so I just dove headfirst into the web."
I see what you did there. 😆

Time to run an all drow campaign in menzoberranzan
Out of the Abyss works pretty good also.
