I play golf in dubai where the temperature can reach 50 in the summer. I wear a single FJ rain glove all year round here as it helps with the grip when the sweat is running down your arms. They also don’t go crunchy like a leather glove would after getting wet. You can wash them too 👍
James, great video mate! I live and play golf in Southern Georgia, USA. Temperatures are in the high 90s by 10am March thru September. Between the sweaty hands and humidity, you really need to wear a rain glove to stop the club slipping. It’s way better than having 4 or 5 different gloves drying out in your cart as drive around the course. I’m a firm believer in them!
Frank Munley same thing here in South Florida. This time of the year your swapping out your leather glove when you’re heading to back 9 from sweat saturation. Rain glove is the way to go
Same here in Virginia Beach. All summer long it’s the 80% humidity off the water and close to 100 degrees. Oddly, I’m the only guy in the area that seems to wear rain gloves in those conditions that I can tell. As mentioned earlier, beats going through a half dozen gloves in a round. I just leave it on for hitting and putting…if it’s really sweaty weather, I’ll wear them on both hands.
I live in Vegas now so we actually have to worry about our grips being TOO dry 😂(no joke I tend to grab and ice cube every few holes and let it melt in my glove to make it a bit more tacky)... But moving to Hilton Head soon. Definitely picking up some of these!
FJ rain gloves work great if you have sweaty hands. They are also easier to wash and last longer than normal leather ones. I use them instead of regular leather ones.
Yeah I sweat a lot and I live in Florida where it’s getting close to100 degrees out and like 80% humidity every day, I bought a second set of FJ rain gloves because I lost mine a while ago, my play all of the sudden became so much better. And because I generally golf and go to the range everyday I definitely agree that they last longer which helps save money
That’s why we wear the rain gloves during rain soaked golf rounds. Normally I don’t play when it’s raining but sometimes we get caught in an afternoon shower. Thanks for confirming those gloves do work. Cheers!
I’m like you, I don’t normally play in the rain. I have used rain gloves during the summer when it was very hot and the sweat was pouring off of me. They worked very well for that, too.
I have always been one that perspires a lot during the hot humid mid western Illinois summer and found out 4 plus decades ago to wear a rain glove when hot and humid, instead of changing out 4 or 5 gloves a round I just wear 1 rain glove on my right hand, and rinse it well in the club house bath sink and take home to dry after the round, works great for me.
Some of my lowest rounds have been in the rain with those gloves on. Probably a combination of lower expectations, so I relax, and the great grip they give. I love them.
My son will not play golf in the rain and if we have started a round and then it starts to rain he gets so stroppy it’s funny. I prefer not to play in the rain but it doesn’t bother me too much, I make sure I play in the rain because one day the comp you are playing in will be raining so you know how to play in the rain with waterproofs on and rain gloves on. The rain gloves are amazing and I’m even more happy that footjoy make them in a white/grey colour Fantastic review on the gloves James 👍
Ive gone to wearing a rain glove totally. I was wearing a white footjoy leather glove while I played but the palm of my hand would sweat occasionally. This was causing the grip to slip sometimes. I put the rain glove on and it works for me just fine.
Yes they do I played a 9 hole round in a spring time monsoon early this year an those things get grippier as they get wet. Had no issues holding. I love these gloves for hot days to as it soaks up all your hand sweat.
This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "good irons to get good at golf with" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Reyuhaffad Underlying Recognition - (do a google search ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my buddy got amazing success with it.
I am not a brand centric person, but I’ve tried a few different brands of rain gloves. While they all work well right out of the box, only the Callaway brand has stood the test of time...literally. The others tended to start falling apart or peeling. The Callaway has not shown that at all, and they are 6 years old! They’ve kept their shape, suppleness, and no peeling of layers. Probably used them 5-10 times a year, hung em on the bag to dry out and then just shoved them back in the bag. Great gloves.
Rain gloves are clutch. One of the few things in the world that actually do what they say they'll do! I actually like playing in the rain. Not a downpour, but if it's just kind of steady I like it. For one thing, the course is usually empty. And I like the challenge. My brother used to play all the time in the rain when he was preparing for his club championship in Virginia, because it ALWAYS rained during that comp. And he figured (rightly) that most people would fall apart when it rained, so if he was better at it, he'd win. And he did! Of course, he was playing off +2 at the time. What a jerk.
My experience is that they work well. Funny thing is how I first got a pair. I was in the shop with the wife so silly gadgets like wet gloves were off limits, but the pro , ready with his sprayer, got the wife to try them. We came out with a pair each. I learned my lesson, if I want something I take her along and let them do their magic. It’s brilliant.lol
I wear a rain glove every round instead of a regular glove. My hand would sweat too much, and I’d end up using 4-5 gloves a round. FJ makes a white set now, and no one can tell I’m even wearing a rain glove.
I actually use a rain glove permanently. Not both hands though. Really good for hot sweaty conditions as well as wet :) Also found I'd wear through leather gloves really quickly. The rain gloves last so much longer
I use a wet weather glove all year round. Not a pair but just one out of the set. Callaway opti grip. I choke the life out of the grip and these are the best glove I’ve used for grip wet or dry.
Really wished I knew about rain gloves when I was younger, may have enjoyed it more. Since getting back to it over the last year I play when I can and the gloves are great even if my golf shots still aren't. Definitely do nothing to warm your hands up though.
I have these gloves...they’re amazing!! Started raining in my best round...refused to put these on and played 3 holes at 5 over...put these on and finished at 77 total.
For me : The Rain Glove is singularly the best bit of golfing equipment created over the last 20 years... I stress for me.. I used to carry a load of gloves in the bag for both rain or on a sunny day for sweaty palms. Playing in Spain I used to go through at least 6 gloves and keep rotating them. As for the rain - once you don't have the fear of the club flying out of your hand it makes a huge difference. I play in all weather and couldn't do without them.
i have FJ rain gloves, they work for me. only down point as you found out is cold fingers, in December it is not fun extra cold hands.also found it odd is to wear 2 gloves but got use to it
Played in the pi****g rain this morning. Had a great round. For me, ideal wet weather wear is shorts and a decent waterproof top and cap, and importantly a brolly holder on your trolley to keep the clubs dry. I let the waterproof top and hat keep me dry. Never tried these gloves though, and certainly will now.
Rain gloves are a must when playing in the rain and they work great too. Always in the bag just in case. You should do a similar test with winter golf gloves. Mizuno makes a really good one.
I played in a heat wave, 114 degree heat index, and with regular one leather glove I could hardly hold the club, and had little control.. I switched to wet gloves, and the sweat mixing into the wet gloves gave me nearly perfect grip.. It was almost unbelievable. So I will swear by the wet gloves. If you have never tried them, you are missing out. THEY WORK.
I'm not one to play in the rain either but I use the Srixon all weather golve. Are all weather gloves really good in the wet? I'm in Melbourne Australia which is known for four seasons in a day and haven't been caught out by the rain yet!
Decathlon rain gloves are my favourites. Cheap as chips and fantastic feel, rain or shine. Especially good here in the Middle East where humidity is really high
Great video perhaps try warm water next time. I've been thinking of changing grip as cannot get comfortable with overlapping grip. What difference would Vardon or baseball grip make? Continue to do it and do it now!
I dont play in the rain anymore. BUT, I do play in high heat and humidity. Rain gloves are the go to when your hands sweat. They of course work well in the rain too.
I only use rain gloves James. They last so much longer and here in Miami, Florida it’s so damn hot all the time my hands get pretty slick with sweat so this helps. Regular leather just slips and slides off my hands.
I have played golf for 1 year now and been using FJ rainwater from the very beginning. I didn't know that it's better to play this gloves, wet. Hahaha!
I tend not to play in the rain, don't even wear a glove however I have full cord grips which are good if it rains while playing. Any chance you could do a review of club grips, so many to choose from? That saying I was very surprised at the results, good review.
Have used wet gloves for 3 years and they work brilliantly. Your hands do get very cold in the winter. You need to put your hands in winter mitts and they are fine.
Great video!!! Ceep it up!! Cant wait to go play we still cant but i can atleast go chiping cause the flipin restaurant is open but not the golf course...🤦🏼♂️
You just needed a fun way to clean your clubs! 🤣Good video. I don't actively go out of my way to play in the rain but have been caught out. Wet weather gloves really do help.
I played in dreadful rain today until my playing partners wanted to in. So I watched your video and then ordered some rain grip gloves can you believe it buying them in June.😲
I am like you. If it's raining, I'm sleeping in. There is always tomorrow. Besides, I am lucky enough to have an indoor simulator so I can play some famous course and stay dry. Not the same as real golf, but better than slogging through the mud.
I dont play in the rain (Australia) I have one of those fj rain glove I bought it because I dont like how white leather gloves shows up dirt. Only downside I comes a bit high on my wrist and clashes with my watch.
I'm glad you did this ...played in a down pour last sunday and I went thru 5 gloves.....wish I would have got wet gloves....footjoy needs to sponsor this channel #footjoy
fair play to you James thats the first video I've ever seen about rain gloves . i looked at then once in Drumond golf in Bendigo Victoria Australia and the guy said they were good it does what is says on the tin like Ronseal lol.... good vid as always james... might be due to watch one from your crazy mate AL soon . Remember when you were in Perth and went shopping at coles and you put a video on instergram you were shopping for food or cake or pie but it was so funny had me in stitches for days . do you remember ???
I never play golf in the rain either but caught in a downpour with 2 holes to go last week. Driver slipped in my hand on the last and just managed to hold on with 2 fingers or I was having to go look through the rough for it.
I don’t know about anybody else but I don’t mind playing in light rain but if it is pouring I would walk off or not start in the first place. Also I always carry a towel so my hands would never get dripping wet. From past experiences I think it is better to not have any gloves and towel off hands and grip before each shot. I would also hold my trolley with my right hand and put my left in my pocket. I am right handed. I only use two gloves in the depth of winter.

I didn't wear a glove for the first 15 years of playing until Winn Polymer Cord grips ceased production! Didn't need a glove even when it was raining. I hate wearing a glove. What's the best rain/sweat grip James? Get out in that rain and find out! 💦💦💦💦
Imo golf is impossible in the rain with a leather glove. I have a pair of Taylormade rain gloves and apart from stitching being loose in places from the get go they serve their purpose well
Never play in the rain or cold. Living in Thailand cold is now not an issue !!! Sweaty hands is the big problem here, leather gloves last 2 or 3 holes before they are to wet. Here I buy FJ Tropicool gloves, similar to a rain glove but thinner material, feel better. Virtually indestructible as well.
Played this morning and given the wind was happy with my 21 points through 14 holes off 12. Then the heavens opened and it got pointless, the other 3 played on and I couldn’t grip a club so just walked the last 4 holes.
I play golf in dubai where the temperature can reach 50 in the summer. I wear a single FJ rain glove all year round here as it helps with the grip when the sweat is running down your arms. They also don’t go crunchy like a leather glove would after getting wet. You can wash them too 👍

Frank Brickle do you use athletic tape, I know someone who just taped up their fingers instead of wearing a glove because it’s lasts longer for them
Yep used them all the time in Dubai summers playing in 45c + temps, worked a treat.
That’s why we wear the rain gloves during rain soaked golf rounds. Normally I don’t play when it’s raining but sometimes we get caught in an afternoon shower. Thanks for confirming those gloves do work. Cheers!
Crikey James, what kind of rain do you get in Yorkshire? Must bucket it down
I’m like you, I don’t normally play in the rain. I have used rain gloves during the summer when it was very hot and the sweat was pouring off of me. They worked very well for that, too.

Same here
Footjoy rain gloves are a lifesaver in rain.👍 had them in the bag 20+ years handy in tournament golf.
Sshhhh. Don't tell everyone!!!
I've used these for years.... Absolute god send....
I always try and arrange my knockout matches in the rain 😊😊😊
Wore those exact gloves all through the wet winter we just had. Never had an issue with grip and they keep your hands warm. Being washable also good.
I am not a brand centric person, but I’ve tried a few different brands of rain gloves. While they all work well right out of the box, only the Callaway brand has stood the test of time...literally. I live in Portland and wear rain gloves in the winter. Even when it’s not raining it’s kinda damp so nice to have.

I agree, I don't mind playing in the rain too much as long as it's not windy.
My experience is that they work well. Funny thing is how I first got a pair. I waer the FJ rain gloves all winter. Keeps both hands warm and work a treat in the wet..
Love them! £20 with a towel from AG. Last forever too
I actually use a rain glove permanently. Not both hands though. Really good for hot sweaty conditions as well as wet :)

Rain sleet snow or sun. I play golf regardless of weather. I have used these rain gloves for a year now and they are awesome.

It's 100+ with crazy humidity here in the summer. I often just wear a rain glove because my hands won't stop sweating.
Thanks James, often wondered if they'd work, perhaps I'll give them a try as we are all caught in the rain at times on the course.
Decathlon rain gloves are my favourites. Cheap as chips and fantastic feel, rain or shine. Especially good here in the Middle East where humidity is really high
Started using rain gloves for practice cuz they last longer but now I prefer the feel so I use it playing as well
Great video perhaps try warm water next time.
When I was a junior, I took driver off the tee in the rain. The club went further than the ball - made the fairway! :)
What club did you use for your second shot and how far did it fly, PS did that many time myself.
I'm from Scotland, we have no choice!😂
Michael Barrett Yeah met too. Such a pain sometimes
Great video. I may start wearing these gloves in the winter to keep both hands warm
Used a pair yesterday in the rain and thought they were spot on 👍
I only use rain gloves James.
Hahaha!
Hell yes! Rain gloves are such a requirement in your bag, game changer in the wet!
I tend not to play in the rain, don't even wear a glove however I have full cord grips which are good if it rains while playing. Any chance you could do a review of club grips, so many to choose from? That saying I was very surprised at the results, good review.

"I don't fancy buying a new, well any thing really". So Yorkshire. Deep pockets, short arms😂😂😂
I dont play in the rain (Australia) I have one of those fj rain glove I bought it because I dont like how white leather gloves shows up dirt. Only downside I comes a bit high on my wrist and clashes with my watch.
Never wear gloves , but, I do use BOWLERS GRIP when it rains. It makes my hands tacky and works really well.
No me either when I played. Didn’t like the rain and didn’t play Winter League, unless it was a lovely day. 😂💕❤️
I have those rain gloves and I've found that the wetter they get, the better they work.
I’ve started wearing rain gloves in the rain. Makes a huge difference.

I've used wet weather gloves when it's really warm and my hands have been sweating
My hands sweat terribly. Last summer I tried rain gloves and they helped. Use them all the time now, only on one hand though
Also, wear both pairs when icy - keeps hands warm & good feel.
Great test!!!! But if your hands are that's wet...it's time to head in!!!!!
Today I went golfing in the rain, I used the FootJoy "rain grip" gloves. Within 5 minutes my hands were wet and cold. whenever I touched something that was wet, like my bag, the palm would just soak up the water. I think latex gloves, under a normal glove would probably work 1000 times better. Don't but these gloves!
My dad doesn’t play anymore in the rain, but when he was younger...he played in rain, snow (every Jan 1st), and thunderstorms with hail! Hahaha
Love this type of comparison. Brings out the engineer in me😀 did you also get the club face wet? That should also make a difference? Keep up the great work. 😁⛳️🙏
Include using a wet ball with that wet club face! All aspects of wet play should be considered..👍🏽
I think taking that variable out of it was better for this test. That way you can narrow it down to if the grip was better with the rain gloves. Of course we always know what water on the club face will do.
Rain gloves work a treat for grip. The only real downside for me is that in the winter they make my hands quite cold.
How do they perform dry or with just one on your left like normal?
I play in the Philippines where it's hot and humid. I use hit39 gloves similar to those rain gloves and definitely much better grip then leather gloves. I can use one per round where as with leather I have to change at least 3xs already round
I have the exact same pair. Apperently the more wet they become the better the grip
I always keep a pair of wet gloves in the bag, nothing worse than having a good round spoilt because you can barely hold the club when it's raining.
Summer in Dubai = 40 - 45 deg temperatures and 70 - 90+% humidity, can't play without them when it's like that!!!
I didn't wear a glove for the first 15 years of playing until Winn Polymer Cord grips ceased production! Didn't need a glove even when it was raining. I hate wearing a glove. What's the best rain/sweat grip James? Get out in that rain and find out! 💦💦💦💦
I actually own these but I’ve only used them once. They definitely saved my round though!
We play golf in the rain here in the states because we appreciate just being out there.
Shammy leather all day in wet weather!!!!drys the grips and glove so well.
Play today rain for half the course but I just switched to a different glove when the rain stopped might have to look at rain gloves 🤔
Every. Single. Day. Mate. Best youtuber on yt 👍👍💪💪💪
They are lifesavers for sure
, I play in all weathers and have never worn a glove just don’t like the feel of them ( prefer the feel of a shank running through my bones 😂)
They are good for hot humid days also
Nice video, was planning to do a very similar test, might not bother now 😂 Keep up the great work.
The next best thing about rain gloves (after the enhanced grip) is they are not ruined when they get wet.
Now I have to go and buy some. I'm living in Seattle in Juneuary.
Great video idea James
Imo golf is impossible in the rain with a leather glove. I have a pair of Taylormade rain gloves and apart from stitching being loose in places from the get go they serve their purpose well
You can’t say it’s impossible. Rain is just part of the game of Golf in the UK, just as much as driving, chipping and putting is.
Great content James, definitely getting a pair of these now
I use these all the time, not as sweaty as leather & last ages.
I rock an FJ rain even when it's dry
Good morning James. Great review. Thank you sir !
I have a pair in the bag. Great to use in showers. It may (or may not) save the day 😁
Never play in the rain or cold.
