Dear Old Heads, I was born in 1989. They killed disco before I was born. So NO, I’ve never heard of Gloria Gaynor. Yes, I’ve heard of her music, but remember, I was raised in the 90s. The “I will survive” version I know, is by Selena! 😊 the entire purpose of Rhythm Roulette is music discovery. I discovered 2 new artist (new to me) and hopefully new to this generation! We are in 2022! This music is 50 years old! And they do not play this music on the radio. Hell. We don’t even listen to the radio!! So be open to knowing they there is an entire generation that is discovering the music you grew up with. So before you judge anyone about the knowledge of what music they know, have a little compassion and remember, you are an old head 😊 I love you. Sarah
As an "old head" (I was a young child during the disco era) I can appreciate you and understand you might not know about every piece of music out there. There is sooo much out there to to be heard, no one can hear it all, and there's always discoveries to be made. I happened to stumble upon this video as a YT recommend, and I'm glad I did. You're a very creative person, I dig your music and I wish you nothing success and happiness! You keep on being you!
European Radio is completely different than American Radio in the 90s. I’m 10000000000% sure y’all were still listening to disco while we were listening to NWA
And yes even if you were American and we were born in the same year and even lived in the same house, I don’t know what you know and I don’t know it all. DEAL WITH IT!! Wuuyyyttttt?!!
Does anyone know how she chops up the sample live to the pads while listening to it at 5:13? I've been looking everywhere for a tutorial on how to do that but can't find it.
Another successful mix. Gloria Gaynor “I Will Survive”. Big song of the 70’s. I have to chuckle about the fact that you didn’t know about her. Generation Gap🤣🤣🤷🏽♂️🎶🕺🏽
I don’t know her name. Of course I know her music. You think I know every artist name? I can’t even remember someone’s name after meeting them! Hahaha thanks fam!
@@Sarah2ill I know. So much music to keep up with when you love it. I’m a product of the 70’s so some of the music is etched in my brain. Wouldn’t know too many artists or songs from the 2000’s. Would fail on the show Shazam😂😂😂
woooahhhhh this record store is right by my old apartment that i just moved from, would walk to it often. not huge, but definitely has some gems and lots of variety. great work as always
Yo, just found you on another video and you were making a lo fi beat. Just wanna say I’m diggin’ your vibe and what your doing. Subscribed immediately to your channel. Keep posting. I’m gonna keep watching…👊🏼
Sarah - I am new to your channel. I am delighted to find your channel in this space. I discovered you between videos from Ave McCree and Busy Works Beats. Your perspectives, style, and talents are much needed in this space. Thank you for sharing, PS - Gloria and Maxine are def 70s queens (R&B, disco) who reigned at the same time as the funk kings whose works are foundational if not essential.
Actually just seen an ad for TrackLib done by you then I jumped on Mass appeal to watch the Wondagurl Rhythm roulette and saw you in the comments. I was already like oo who she now I get to experience and watch you at work.
I wanna see a producer do this on hard mode: pick zero records from the R&B/Soul section. You're dope and influential enough to lay down that challenge in the community! Keep doin ya thing Ms. 2ill!
@@Sarah2ill That's why you're the best--polite kick in the ass accepted! I don't do anything in the way of visual or social media, but maybe it's time to change that. When I do it--you'll do one too, and shoot the homie a follow?
You scored with those records. Gloria is the Queen of disco!!! I'm sure you've heard her anthem, "I Will Survive". Classic. Keep up the good work. You're a pleasure to follow AND learn from. Continued success.
Nothing but love for Gloria because she made her indelible mark and continues with "I Will Survive" placements. However, Donna Summer is my Queen of Disco.
Gloria Gaynor's tune I Will Survive is one of the biggest hits of the Disco era. Just about every time you watch a movie about the 70's you'll hear I Will Survive.
Dope beats. Love those drum breaks. Could someone please tell me the name of the chord finding app? & Or the NI drum vst. Thx! Those both are something I cld really use.
Great video, Sarah. Thank you for sharing. Hey, are you planning on doing a tutorial video on the MPC Live II, similar to what you did for the MK3? Thanks again. Blessings!
I prefer chord AI. Mixed in key is cool but it isn’t always accurate plus the chords leave the screen once you play something else. I like how chord AI has all the chords on my screen and doesn’t delete them plus if I pause it, I can keep recording and it will keep everything. I have to go back to the main track and replay the song over and over to get that information when it comes to mixed in key. Very time consuming. Chord Ai is better for My workflow.
Dope Rhythm Roulette. Just for the record, Maxine Nightingale's Lead Me On was another classic single by a great female artist. You actually found 3 album gems. Congratulations! Peace
What are the odds of getting the same artist twice? The soul row looked pretty long so they will have lots of records of popular artists. If they sort them alphabetically these records will all be in the same area in the row. So, if you don’t walk up and down the row the odds might be quite significant.
Would you still say getting an SP404 MkII is worth it? Or do you prefer the computer set up? I have a computer and Ableton, but I can’t decide on analog or digital…
Both. I use my computer to make my beats and use the sp as a production tool to enhance my production and as a live performance tool to play my music live. I don’t make my beats on the sp, but it can be done and it’s dope!
Hey Sara! Question> how can you use all this old music and not get strikes? I want to do that? but, how is that possible? (the only place I've found, cost about $75.00 just tu use 15 seconds of an old song.....)
Just got the Roland J6. I see one by your record player. What do you think of it? Have you done a review? I'm taking baby steps into getting back into production so I got that and the Roland T8. I'm waiting on my SmplTrek from the Kickstarter I supported months ago to be my sampler. We'll see what happens.
