Had surgery at Bryn Mawr Hospital two weeks this Thursday. I had little pain after operation and needed no meds. Operated on at 9:30 walked out to parking lot well over a hundred yards at 2 p.m. with no problem.
Some discomfort. They gave me a percocet as I walked. Out.
Had coughing and sneezing that caused little discomfort in the lower abdomen .
I iced down for two days the first nite with a huge water chest ice pack, Had no swelling.
Having the best docs has to be part of it. Was in the fifth day back to my normal schedule. Told to rest a lot first 4 days.
Only problem is with fatigue. Doc said that would continue for 4 weeks and get better every day.
Saw doc on l0th day. Doc said things looked great. No heavy lifting till after 4th week. At this point can do lite weights, exercise, bike riding and stop if it starts to pain.
I guess I have been lucky. Ate raisin bran every day that helps with the flow of things. Had no constipation
and no problem going to bathroom. Ate lite for 4 days but a couple chicken cutlets.
Orderly told me to expect some belching and gas from the air trapped inside my stomach. Did not have laproscopic. Wasn't the largest hernia but by the time of the op it was one inch wide and one inch high
which had doubled in size in two weeks when the surgery was planned.
I just want the fatigue to go away, but have been active walking almost 3 miles every day after the fourth day.
Had no bloating whatsoever so maybe the huge ice pack helped that. In fact, my stomach was immediately smaller after the surgery and lost two pounds right after getting home.
Do you know how much it cost?? I have this but I dont have health insurance???
Are you knocked out for the surgery or just the area is numbed?
Had mine fix they used a MESH NEVER ever let them put a mesh inside of you a year layer and 5 surgries and full of removal of mesh it been the worse year of my life! I will never allow mesh inside of of me. The day I woke up I knew something was wrong with my tummy and the mesh. Research complication about mesh and do more research before you allow this mesh inside of you! I was told it is safe no complication!

I have an umbilical hernia n its very painful n can't sleep at nite due to acid reflux n choked under general anaesthetic due to reflux wen I had to undergo an surgery for a leg fracture.As a result surgery n had to be postponed.I was revived due to the efficient response of the anaesthiest but bile collected in the abdoman an rushed to my lungs n developed pneumonia as a result.
I'm going to remove my belly button just for the heck of it. Yeah... I'll do that.

Hello Sir, have been operated for tummy tuck with umbilical hernia 2 months before, as advised I started to go for walk on treadmill after 2 months...I started to have nerve pain in my left leg...and now the whole leg pains sometime there is little numbness. I have a question, my mam is after getting and discovering a hernia, she has an illness already which is COPD Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) , but the hernia it seems to be at early stages, she has been giveing anti biotics for now, any reccomdations on how to help this, such a eating a different diet staying away from milk chocolates sugary foods and greasy foods??? Get a CT scan and they can see if it's a hernia or not.
I’m trying to figure out what I have. I don’t have any bulge that would indicate a hernia but I have pain around my belly button it’s very sore to lay on my stomach the main pain I get is when urinating it’s intense pain from my belly button down🥴 I have an appointment on the 8th and will discuss with my pcp.

I have one and it causes me very intense pain and inhibits my ability to stand. I can't get the surgery because I work as a nanny so i would not be able to stop lifting for that amount of time. Are there any other options to help with it?

An humbilical hernia is not cause for dismissal or enter the military. You can either enter the military and have them to do the surgery (you will be out for 2 weeks) or have the surgery before and join the military.
My son has pain in the ambilical corde then the whole stomache aches, and like 30 minutes the pain disappiers, then he can stay two months then the pain comes back,, help me, whats that

An umbilical hernia will not under any circumstances heal on its own. Most likely it will increase in size as time goes by. I have one and have seen several doctors including the gentleman above about possible surgery. I always wake up with an unsettling feeling kind of like mild nausea right in the belly button area . The majority of doctors are not sure this problem is due to the umbilical hernia but I have a feeling it is. The doctor above is a very nice guy and has a very good reputation . He would be a good choice for this type of surgery.

I've been have been having pain left side of belly button for the past week and it stings like a bee sting and that comes and goes but the pain Is when I bend over and when something touches that area! And yesterday September 9th I'm 20years old now and I'm a female... was my birthday and I was feeling around a little to see where the pain was worse but when I barely pushed down I felt a pop! I don't know what this could be! Do you think i have a hernia?
I have the same thing, it pops when pressure is applied.
I bet that is 100 % hernia. I had the exact symptom. Went to ER . They sent me home with an anti inflammatory pill. When back today,2days after, better doctor. Immediately Dr Kwong diagnoses belly button hernia. She pushed on it really hard. It hurt a bit. Some of the fatty tissues went back in. Much relieved. Still recommend seeing a surgeon.
Please check it out fast. If your intestine get caught,it can get serious very quickly. Good luck.

Have you found any information on the hernia healing on it's own? I was recently diagnosed and every doctor I see is pushing for surgery. I feel like there are other options but cannot find any research supporting.
mel V no I have not found it yet looking for herbs and related exercises even when we find those it takes a few months and patience I personally refuse surgery but of course every case is different I would see holistic functional doctors and consult with them first even though they usually don't accept insurance so it will be out of pocket!

So my granddaughter is 11 days old. Her umbilical cord just fell and looks great. I put neosporin antibiotic ointment and cleaned it. I also did wrap a quarter in a gauze and put another gauze ontop with clear tape to hold in place. I will keep it on every 2 days then reapply until navel is in completely.
My children and other granddaughter was done the same and they all have perfect navels.
