Even worse is the stereotype that an artist must be "tortured" in order to be creative, even though studies show that artists do their best work when they are happy.

It is not just Norway it's an universal thing I can tell you :) the crowd tend to clap in sync after a moment of chaos, if every body clap at a sufficiently low pace every one ends claping at the same time, and in general you start by claping fast then you low down your own claps naturally and you end up trying to catch the pace of the ones around you. It takes a few second to a crowd to synchronize. In France we do it for example. There is a science which study crowds and its behavior, you can find research about that fact :)

I feel like these kids did exactly what we need of classical music!
    1. They play an "infamous piece", not all these overplayed pieces (some of them still remain beautiful pieces but gosh they are so overplayed!)
    2. They play it as it should sound, not fast or without phrasing and dynamics.
    3. They play for real without seeking to be "selling image" but they play music
    4. They play as a team, obviously prepared without any unecessary mainstream tv extras we see performers say
I am actually so happy that these kids actually do classical music right and I am happy that finally we do not get these cringy reactions of "omg booooring!" by the judges or the crowd. Ah this was a breath of fresh air guys!

The golden button is for them immediately moving on to the Semifinals? ( was it?)
In the end, she said: “It’s amazing that you can convey so much anger and still be (Uhm, I’m a bit unsure how to translate this word but, it’s “samstemt” which basically means) accordant/compatible/harmonious”. In the middle, the judges are basically whispering “Fantastic”, and in the beginning, he’s telling how Shostakovich wrote the piece during the Cold War when he was in Dresden and saw bombing (probably the state of the city after WWII), so they’re basically just exchanging pleasantries and the judges getting to know which piece they are gonna play yada, yada, yada
Edit: “in tune” is the translation I was trying to think of. Thank you, comment section!

Aqualia ! AGT has become about base level entertainment rather than talent. There was some interest in finding real talent in the early years but the audience they've built now isn't interested, they just want to be entertained regardless of whether the performer has a genuine talent, so I doubt anything will ever change. They might get new judges but they'll pick people who have the same fake idea of what "talent" means.

Of course these are just light-hearted jokes ! Every musician knows how it's hard to learn an instrument, so they would never _seriously_ make fun of other hard-working musicians.
They both played in string quartet and have friends who play the viola. By making viola jokes, they're just following a 'tradition' (violists have been making fun of for centuries), but they said several times that it's not serious and that they like violas and violists.

So yesterday my music teacher was tuning our class (cause they can’t tune) and then when she came over to me she said: “do you watch twoset?” cause I was wearing the practice hoodie and I said yes and she asked me if I was going to your tour in Vancouver. I said: “yes”. Thanks you for making it possible to know if your teacher watches twoset or not.

Man, I can say from experience that Norway is awesome because I live there. It’s not like all Norwegians are overpolite or super generous we are just overall nice people. And also I dont Know if it’s just Norwegians but everytime someone mentions Norway in anything international or commonly known by almost everyone, every single Norwegian heart explodes of excitement so when I saw this episode my soul got just a little less empty.✌️

Translation (I saw some people asking for one)
    1:05
    Who are you?
    We are the quartet Saphir
What piece are you going to play?
    We are playing Shostakovich
    1:48
The piece was written by Shostakovich during the Cold War when he had been in Dresden and seen bombing.
    2:04
So he was very angry and frustrated
    2:09
We’re excited to hear this piece
    4:01
What a (word that means playing/collaborating/working together, essentially she’s saying they’re playing well together)
    Oh lord my hat
    4:38
    This is completely amazing
    4:52
    Oh damn
    6:43
    Great!
    A thousand thanks!
    7:26
You can express so much anger and be so in tune with each other (not referring specifically to tuning)
    7:35
There’s only one thing to do and that is… (I think? She mumbles the first couple of words)
    7:47
    Congratulations, it was so good!
    Many congratulations

I just randomly go back to this video and realize Eddy has known the violin part since this early on. And I have been wanting to hear you perform this so much and dream do come true if you wait long enough lol. Thank you for the awesome performances and I hope twoset go long enough to hear the rest of your frequently play excerps but in full perfomance mode!

I really like Shostakovich's symphonies, but his composition with his string quartets is where his creativity and personality shines brightest (mostly because Stalin was basically watching him fiercely after I think his 4th symphony and after walking out on his play of Lady MacBeth)
