Kayaking the Black River: Black River Falls, WI-Melrose, WI

I spent two nights (22 miles) on the Black River in Wisconsin with two of my oldest friends. This river offers a lot of everything; large bluffs, little waterfalls, and some of the best sandbars I've ever seen.

It was a dry one, that’s for sure. I hope to get out a few times once the leaves start to change. You have any trips planned?

Way tooo short Black River Falls to Mississippi let's doitagain. Better yet I'm in Greenwood add another 40mi on I'll tag along. Maybe better when a bit less of da rock bed was showing. Not much precipitation this year here or anywhere. Did you do da breul yet?God bless keep da paddles paddling

Been talking about paddling another stretch on the Black for the past year! Grew up spending a lot of time in Lancaster, so maybe not too far from you? Have not tackled the Breul yet, but open to it! No water around me (Eastern Iowa) this season so my boat has barely been wet. God bless you too, my guy! Happy paddling!!

Is this easily for beginner kayakers?

Absolutely! Fairly wide in this section and no notable rapids. Other sections of the Black offer rapids but this is a nice calm stretch.
