Kayak Fishing Black River Wisconsin | Walleye and Smallies

- Loaded up the kayak and headed to fish the Black River in central Wisconsin. The main target was smallmouth bass and I had a blast catching quite a few on topwater and jigs. Finding boulders and a little current was key for the smallmouth bass. I ended up with quite a few bonus walleye too which I was not expecting! The walleye were in a little deeper(7-8 ft) hole and a caught some in a little higher current also. This will be a river I will definitely try fishing again sometime.

Nice vid. I've wanted to walk this river, but it looks like public tends to be dotted in between private. I guess I could stay wet, but a kayak looks like the way to go.
Awesome, give it a shot! Yes I think a kayak or canoe is the way to go. Best would be to have two vehicles so you could park down river and launch the kayak further up and float down. I'd imagine its pretty low right now though

I’ve started getting into musky fishing more this year and I am definitely thinking about trying for musky on the Black River some time!
Me and and buddy could guide you for a day in Clark Co. But we might have to blindfold you for the car ride. Lol.

I just found a spot that is killer for musky 3 weeks ago. Been waiting to get back there.
Check out Friends Of The Black River on Facebook. We do canoe and kayak floats on certain sections of the river. We also do a spring and fall cleanup.
